The nurses working closely with the local GP's look after her medication needs to good effect and with regular activities she is occupied with a variety of things to do.
Thank you for your kind feedback. We're pleased to hear your wife has settled well at Burleys Wood and is happy in a clean, friendly environment. It's wonderful to know she is well supported by our care team, nurses and activities programme. We really appreciate your review.
I am so pleased we chose Burleys Wood for my mother-in-law - it wasn't an easy decision to make but after seeing the care home for ourselves and going on recommendations from friends with relatives living at Burleys Wood we felt confident in our decision. The staff were very sympathetic and understanding as it was hard for my mother-in-law when she first moved in understandably but she has been looked after very well and we are always kept in touch of anything that has affected her. When we visit her we can see how happy she is and which is a great comfort to us especially now that my husband (her son) is not in the best of health so I am reassured that she is being looked after very well.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased your mother-in-law has settled well at Burleys Wood and that our team have been able to support and reassure you. It means a great deal to know she is happy and well cared for.
The staff are all very kind and caring. They take the time to understand those they care for and we have been pleased with the care mum has received. The home itself is a lovely environment. It feels spacious, bright and is always clean and tidy.
Mum is so much happier and calmer now and she seems well cared for. We have peace of mind that she is being looked after by great people, which is a weight off of our minds! They are also very happy to welcome my Dad when he visits regularly.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled so well at Burleys Wood and that the transition has been made easier for your family. It is wonderful to know she is happier and calmer, and that our team and environment have given you peace of mind. We also appreciate your kind comments about visits from your dad.
Excellent staff, always very friendly and well informed. My mother is extremely well cared for and very happy at Burleys Wood. It has given us the peace of mind that we have found a wonderful place where she is content and safe.
Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted to hear that your mother is happy at Burleys Wood and that our team has given you peace of mind. Your lovely comments mean a great deal to us.
The family would like to be kept informed of his doctor/hospital visits
It is disappointing to see animals used for some of the entertainment though
We will also ensure the request regarding updates about GP and hospital visits is passed on to the team.
Your comments are greatly appreciated.
In all honesty, my mum is not overly flattering about the food - but a very minor issue considering how well she is doing.
The staff are friendly, respectful, professional, very courteous and always content to chat. I am very grateful for all they do. The Manager is always willing to chat and is honest and sympathetic when asked for updates, which is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt feedback. We're truly delighted to hear how positively your mother's wellbeing has improved since joining us at Burley's Wood. It means a great deal to know that our team's care, professionalism, and support have made such a difference for both her and your family.
Burleys Wood Care Home in Furness Green, Crawley is everything we could wish for our Mum. The staff really care and they look after Mum so well. Initially Mum did not settle well into the Home, she was confused and disoriented due to her increasing dementia, but they have been so patient and caring with her. The Home layout is excellent with lots of space for residents to move around if they wish and a beautiful garden for when the weather permits outdoor activities. There are several communal lounges where residents can relax, watch tv or take part in the varied and well thought out daily morning and afternoon activities. The residents rooms all have en-suite facilities which include toilet, wash basin and shower and the bedrooms are light and pleasantly decorated and they get cleaned every day. There is a daily laundry service and a weekly hairdresser visits. Meals are cooked on site and they are wholesome and delicious. We thoroughly recommend Burleys Wood Care Home.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted that your mum is happy and well cared for, and that you feel confident in everything we do at Burleys Wood Care Home.

The wonderful team leaders and their amazing team of carers were caring and loving to Mum, this was particularly apparent in the last few days of her life when she was so lovingly looked after.
Thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt memories of your mother-in-law's time at Burleys Wood. We are touched to hear how much she enjoyed being part of our community and how our team made her feel cared for, from the everyday chats to the activities and outings. It is especially meaningful to...
Our baby puppy cockapoo came with us & he visited most of the residents, which really cheered them up & made their day apparantly!
Dad & I sat in the lounge having a good old sing-song, which Dad really enjoyed.
All the staff were fabulous & really good with Dad.
We left feeling very happy & pleased that Dad seems to be settling in quite well now & having wonderful care!
Thank you x

It's heartwarming to know he's settling in well and feeling cared for - that means the world to us. Thank you for your kind words.
We attended the Burleys Root Carnival with our friend today, who is a resident of the home. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. The staff went round to check on the residents, making sure that they were sitting in the shade and had food and drinks. The staff danced to the music and encouraged people to join in, to the best of each individuals abilities. It looked like everyone had a good afternoon and enjoyed themselves. Well done.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear that you all enjoyed the Burleys Root Carnival and felt so welcome. It was wonderful to see residents having fun, joining in with the music, and enjoying the afternoon together. We will pass on your kind words to the staff, who will be thrilled to hear them.
Very friendly and carable staff. Nothing too much trouble. Appeared to be enough staff no rushing or long waits if needing their attention.
Thank you kindly for leaving us a review, it really means a lot to the whole team.
During his short stay he had 3 falls, 2 of which resulted in paramedic call out.
We were then informed that Burleys wood no longer wanted my father as a resident because he was requiring too much attention and help. (he is 90 years old with acute dementia) We were then informed that if he were to stay longer that we would be charged £5000 per month for the extra care and assistance with walking, toilet visits, and extra night time assistance.
They can do this as it is in the small print on the contract you have to sign.(Check it) We were offered no assistance in finding alternative arrangements for my father at such short notice. We removed him from Burleys wood 2 days later. Our whole experience was appalling and extremely stressful for my father and our family. I cannot recommend this place at all.
We are so sorry that you feel that you were not supported during your Fathers stay at Burleys Wood. We consider the safety of our residents our priority and on occasions we have to make a difficult decisions on whether we are able to continue to maintain the safety needs of individual...
The home has a lovely atmosphere with a staff of really caring people.
The activities that are arranged are stimulating and enjoyable with great participation of the residents.
The care is second to none, I was so lucky to find a home of this caliber. A huge THANK YOU.

Going into a care home can be a difficult decision for all concerned, it's a new phase that can be very emotive but my experience with Burleys Wood has been so positive and has offered my family peace of mind.
What a lovely review to read! We're so pleased that your mum feels safe and comfortable with us and that she's enjoying her room and the food. I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to the rest of the team.
My brother is very happy at Burleys Wood therefore my siblings and I have peace of mind knowing that he is being looked after extremely well by trained staff who are professional, friendly and helpful. There is a caring, empathetic, personal feel to the place - I feel that everyone knows him as an individual, not just as a 'client'. Thank you.
Thank you for leaving us this really kind review about the care of your brother. It really means a lot to us and the team will be thrilled to read it.
I enjoyed her stay Burleys Wood, I settled in really well there and all staff were brilliant! So caring and understanding of all my needs.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review, we really appreciate it.
I can only describe our experience with Burleys Wood as exemplary. Every member of staff we dealt with, from initial contact, moving in and ultimately, Dad's end-of-life care, was nothing short of outstanding. They took care of everything, including his special dietary needs, liaising with doctors and managing his medication. In spite of his dementia and being doubly incontinent, Dad was always clean and well-shaven, no matter what time of day we visited him. They also kept the family regularly informed which lifted such a lot of stress from us all.
Thank you for leaving us these kind words about the care of your dad, we really appreciate it.
I can not speak highly enough of the care and compassion shown to my aunt whilst in Burleys Wood. They could not do enough to look after my aunt and made her last few weeks as calm and peaceful as they possibly could. Special thanks to the manager who went above and beyond to help us with any problems or queries. Thank you again.
Thank you for leaving us such kind words, the team will be touched to read it.
I can’t say enough good things about the team that work there. From the moment we arrived, very stressed due to my mum having multiple falls at home, they made us all feel welcome and especially Mum. It was upsetting for my mum to one day be at home and then into new unfamiliar surroundings. However, the team have made the transition easy and the level of care is outstanding. The attention to detail when there has been an issue with Mum has been exceptional.
Myself and my sisters visit regularly and on every occasion we are made to feel at home. There is an atmosphere of calm and also fun as they have a varied entertainment programme from singing, gardening and trips out.
We know as a family that Mum is safe and we no longer have to worry about her being alone.
Thank you to all the team that help every day with not only my mum’s care but everyone else’s.
Thank you for leaving us such kind words about the care of your mum, our team will be touched to read this.

Meet the Team (2)

Emma became part of team Burleys when the doors first opened in 2008. She began by working as a night support worker, this fitted well around family life, over the years progressing to Team Leader and then in 2019 Emma was promoted to her current role of Deputy Manager.
Emma has worked in the care sector since leaving College at 17, working for 2 years in a privately-run nursing home in Reigate. Emma then worked for the London Borough of Sutton for 11 years in a specialist dementia home, only leaving when relocating with her young family to Crawley. Originally working for a domiciliary care company, providing support to service users in their own homes.
Emma really enjoys being able to make a difference every single day, supporting residents and staff. It is lovely to see the care staff support the residents with their independence and encouragement, always promoting new skills. Emma loves coming to work, she feels privileged to work in a place that is happy to be in, where the residents receive a high standard of care from an amazing staff team.
In total, Emma has worked for 26 years in the care sector but, has never worked throughout a health Pandemic until 2020 Emma commented: “I am very proud of the team who work here at Burleys Wood. Throughout the Pandemic, we have continued to provide high-quality care to our residents.
During very anxious times, we have pulled together and made sure the residents were always well looked after. We found some new ways of working and new ways of supporting each other - residents, relatives, staff and health professionals.”

Having trained as a nurse 15 years ago, Corah joined the team at Burleys Wood in July 2019. She remembered, I chose nursing as my career because I love to care for those who cannot care for themselves, that’s my passion. Corah’s passion for care, meaning she very quickly fitted into the team at Burleys Wood.
When on shift, Corah manages the nursing floor making sure residents are safe and well cared for. Corah leads a team well and she also spends time each week speaking with local health professionals. Corah speaks with families to show support on a regular basis keeping them in the loop on their loved ones needs. Seeing a smile on a residents face makes everything worthwhile that’s when you know you are doing your job right.
The recent pandemic has taught Corah how important family is. Family is not just your immediate family but, the people you spend time with every day and the people you care for. When the residents’ families were missing physically, there were always phone calls, video calls, post cards, letters etc.
These simple but, physical interactions on a daily basis really helped residents feel less stressful during that time, they enjoy that. This is a good coping management during the pandemic and I am glad that I was a part of that. That too is a part of fulfilling my role. Anxiety can rise, however we pull through as a team.
