The staff at Burleys Wood are always so helpful, friendly and welcoming. We always enjoy visiting. They really get families involved with fairs and activities and my Nan has done very well in there.

The staff and management team are always very friendly and approachable. Mum has received excellent care from all the staff and they have always supported our family too.

My mother has been a resident for five months now at Burley's Wood and I have been most impressed with the care and attention she receives from the staff. The staff are always patient, kind and considerate to all residents and always have time to talk to me when I visit.

My father-in-law went to Burleys Wood December 2017 after having full time care at home, he could no longer be managed at home so the decision was made that for his safety and well-being a home would be the best option as he was not well at all. I live in Cornwall and when my wife and I visited 4
weeks after his admission we could not believe the difference in him. He is definitely in the right place with the right people looking after him.

Having become unable to provide the care my mum needed ourselves due to her dementia, we are very pleased we chose Burleys Wood for her care. She is very well looked after and we know from her own demeanour and limited conversation, she feels safe. (For those not familiar with dementia, to see your
loved one worried, unsure and very frightened of things which they can't explain to us but are very real to them, is the worst part of this disease and was the most difficult thing for us all to cope with prior to my mum going to Burleys Wood).
I witness many examples of the staff having a good sense of humour, helping to make the residents feel happy and often raising a smile from them as the staff go about their duties, nothing seems too much trouble. I have many thanks to all the staff and management at this lovely care home and the way they carry out their roles and say the things they do which give the much needed reassurance and kindness that the residents so much require.

It was a hard decision for my wife to put her Mother into a care home, but it was the best decision to choose Burley Wood. Carers and other residents have become our friends and support, but most importantly my mother-in-law is happy and enjoys all the activities/entertainment that is organised by the

As Care Homes go, Burleys Wood appears to be very good. It has a comfortable atmosphere and is kept clean and tidy throughout
There are various activities for the residents to join in, should they wish and special efforts are made to celebrate birthdays or other occasions such as Easter and Christmas.
Having
been very worried about moving my mother into residential care, Burleys Wood gives me peace of mind that she is well cared for and getting the support she needs.

I was transferred to Burleys Wood Nursing Home after 5 weeks in hospital. I was not weight-bearing on my right leg after a pelvic fracture. I was made welcome by the staff who were kind and friendly. The food was tasty. There were regular activities, probably aimed at the long-term residents but I enjoyed
joining in. The 3 week stay prepared me for managing at home.

My sister was sent to Burleys Wood when she was discharged from hospital. We were all a little apprehensive, but the facilities, staff and her general well-being were of the highest care I have ever seen. She is very happy there and enjoys her food and the excellent health care she receives.

The home smells fresh and is very smart and clean. All the staff are caring and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and senior management is well organised. They let us know if there is any change in Mums condition. If I had to go into care I would like it to be as good as Burleys Wood.

My mum has been a resident at Burleys Wood since May 2016 following a stroke that has left her bed bound and with communication problems. We are very happy with the care given so far. The staff, although busy at times, are always approachable and happy to answer any questions or concerns we may have.
They have always treated mum with dignity and respect. Taking in her wishes at all times.


The home has a light and airy feel and always smells clean when you walk in. The rooms are a decent size. Mum's room has been painted and the floor replaced since she arrived. We were able to bring in her furniture from home and put pictures on the wall to make it feel more like home, which helped her to settle in the first few weeks.


Burleys Wood was highly recommended to us. So far we have not been disappointed.

Emma

Emma Peachey

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Emma became part of team Burleys when the doors first opened in 2008. She began by working as a night support worker, this fitted well around family life, over the years progressing to Team Leader and then in 2019 Emma was promoted to her current role of Deputy Manager.


Emma has worked in the care sector since leaving College at 17, working for 2 years in a privately-run nursing home in Reigate. Emma then worked for the London Borough of Sutton for 11 years in a specialist dementia home, only leaving when relocating with her young family to Crawley. Originally working for a domiciliary care company, providing support to service users in their own homes.


Emma really enjoys being able to make a difference every single day, supporting residents and staff. It is lovely to see the care staff support the residents with their independence and encouragement, always promoting new skills. Emma loves coming to work, she feels privileged to work in a place that is happy to be in, where the residents receive a high standard of care from an amazing staff team.


In total, Emma has worked for 26 years in the care sector but, has never worked throughout a health Pandemic until 2020 Emma commented: “I am very proud of the team who work here at Burleys Wood. Throughout the Pandemic, we have continued to provide high-quality care to our residents.


During very anxious times, we have pulled together and made sure the residents were always well looked after. We found some new ways of working and new ways of supporting each other - residents, relatives, staff and health professionals.”

Corah

Corah Clarke

Job Title: Nurse Joined: 2019

Having trained as a nurse 15 years ago, Corah joined the team at Burleys Wood in July 2019. She remembered, I chose nursing as my career because I love to care for those who cannot care for themselves, that’s my passion. Corah’s passion for care, meaning she very quickly fitted into the team at Burleys Wood.


When on shift, Corah manages the nursing floor making sure residents are safe and well cared for. Corah leads a team well and she also spends time each week speaking with local health professionals. Corah speaks with families to show support on a regular basis keeping them in the loop on their loved ones needs. Seeing a smile on a residents face makes everything worthwhile that’s when you know you are doing your job right.


The recent pandemic has taught Corah how important family is. Family is not just your immediate family but, the people you spend time with every day and the people you care for. When the residents’ families were missing physically, there were always phone calls, video calls, post cards, letters etc.


These simple but, physical interactions on a daily basis really helped residents feel less stressful during that time, they enjoy that. This is a good coping management during the pandemic and I am glad that I was a part of that. That too is a part of fulfilling my role. Anxiety can rise, however we pull through as a team.
