My mother has been in the care home for nearly 3 years. Once you have signed in and go through the doors, you feel a warmth from the atmosphere and the staff. When leaving each time, I feel I leave my mother in a clean, happy and safe environment.

Mum originally went for respite and was so impressed with the staff that when permanent care was required, we had no hesitation in contacting Burleys Wood. The care manager instantly saw that we needed help, for mum to be a permanent resident. The care staff are helpful, friendly and welcoming, nothing
is too much for them and mum has settled very well. My father is able to have lunch with her and we are able to visit anytime. I would not hesitate in recommending Burley's Wood to anyone.

Although reluctant at first to be in a care home, during the six months she has been resident mum has grown to be happy at Burleys Wood. The staff are generally pleasant and where there have been issues these have been satisfactorily resolved.
The home is always clean when we visit and smells fresh
and airy. It is a modern purpose built unit with wide corridors and handrails.
The staff make the extra effort to ensure that there are available activities and they are always friendly. We can drop in and see mum any time during the day. There is an entry control system that gives peace of mind about security.
The nursing care is very good and there are always adequate staff and nurses on duty, there is a nearby doctors surgery and the doctor we have dealt with has been pleasant and efficient.
We would recommend Burleys Wood Care Home.

The home has always put my nan's care at the forefront. The manager runs a well-led team who provide care with a personal and caring approach. Nan has been a resident for over 2 years now and she has been provided with stimulating activities and nurturing care from the staff. Any issues raised have
been dealt with in a professional and caring way.

I have nothing but praise for the staff and services at Burleys Wood.
It was initially with a very heavy heart that my father had to go into permanent nursing care when my mother could no longer care for him herself at home.
However the friendly staff and level of care have meant my father's health
has improved and he is very happy.
My mother is welcomed regularly as part of the family and can take meals with my father when she wants to for a minimal sum.
When my parents recently celebrated a milestone anniversary the staff pulled out the stops to make a banner and start a sing-song for the residents to join in. They had a wonderful afternoon.
My father enjoys and joins in most of the activities but can choose not to if he wants to stay in his lounge. The food appears varied and satisfactory. My father had a large appetite and never appears hungry.
All in all, I have been very happy with Burleys Wood.

As my mother-in-law's condition deteriorates she requires more complicated care and assistance. The staff at Burleys show great patience and understanding of her needs and I feel very confident that she will always be safe and her wishes respected. The manager and staff are always available and willing
to discuss any worries or concerns to put our minds at rest.

My grandmother has been a resident at Burleys Wood since February 2017. It was a difficult decision moving her into a home, but was necessary due to her health/mind. She seems happy, safe and well looked after and the team do a good job with difficult care at times. Overall we, as a family, are happy
we chose this care home.

When looking for a care home for my 91-year-old Mum, I looked at many but as soon as I visited Burleys Wood I knew it was the one. It was the friendly and lively atmosphere. Burleys Wood is not just a care home for my Mum, it's a place the family can go and join in the activities and leave knowing that
she is safe and cared for and certainly not lonely. The staff and other residents have now become friends to us.

My mother has been in Burleys Wood for six months. The standard of care has been excellent. All the staff, without exception, have been caring, compassionate, patient, kind, gentle - everything you need when your parent is vulnerable due to dementia. The carers have a hard task, but Burleys Wood seem
to find the best of the best when it comes to staff. My mother is happy and content in the home and that makes me happy. A stressful situation has been made so much easier by all the wonderful people at Burleys Wood. I cannot thank them enough.

The staff are genuinely friendly and caring. They even say it is the best care home in Crawley. I can take my dog in anytime. They make her and me very welcome. Mum has settled in better than I even expected. She seems content.

Emma

Emma Peachey

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2008

Emma became part of team Burleys when the doors first opened in 2008. She began by working as a night support worker, this fitted well around family life, over the years progressing to Team Leader and then in 2019 Emma was promoted to her current role of Deputy Manager.


Emma has worked in the care sector since leaving College at 17, working for 2 years in a privately-run nursing home in Reigate. Emma then worked for the London Borough of Sutton for 11 years in a specialist dementia home, only leaving when relocating with her young family to Crawley. Originally working for a domiciliary care company, providing support to service users in their own homes.


Emma really enjoys being able to make a difference every single day, supporting residents and staff. It is lovely to see the care staff support the residents with their independence and encouragement, always promoting new skills. Emma loves coming to work, she feels privileged to work in a place that is happy to be in, where the residents receive a high standard of care from an amazing staff team.


In total, Emma has worked for 26 years in the care sector but, has never worked throughout a health Pandemic until 2020 Emma commented: “I am very proud of the team who work here at Burleys Wood. Throughout the Pandemic, we have continued to provide high-quality care to our residents.


During very anxious times, we have pulled together and made sure the residents were always well looked after. We found some new ways of working and new ways of supporting each other - residents, relatives, staff and health professionals.”

Corah

Corah Clarke

Job Title: Nurse Joined: 2019

Having trained as a nurse 15 years ago, Corah joined the team at Burleys Wood in July 2019. She remembered, I chose nursing as my career because I love to care for those who cannot care for themselves, that’s my passion. Corah’s passion for care, meaning she very quickly fitted into the team at Burleys Wood.


When on shift, Corah manages the nursing floor making sure residents are safe and well cared for. Corah leads a team well and she also spends time each week speaking with local health professionals. Corah speaks with families to show support on a regular basis keeping them in the loop on their loved ones needs. Seeing a smile on a residents face makes everything worthwhile that’s when you know you are doing your job right.


The recent pandemic has taught Corah how important family is. Family is not just your immediate family but, the people you spend time with every day and the people you care for. When the residents’ families were missing physically, there were always phone calls, video calls, post cards, letters etc.


These simple but, physical interactions on a daily basis really helped residents feel less stressful during that time, they enjoy that. This is a good coping management during the pandemic and I am glad that I was a part of that. That too is a part of fulfilling my role. Anxiety can rise, however we pull through as a team.
