Maes-y-Wennol Care Home

I would say that the majority of staff are excellent and provide great care for my Nan. They are attentive and talk to her in a lovely way. She is very happy there, which is the most important thing. Her main carers are outstanding. The home is always clean and tidy. My Nan has been there 3 years and
I have noticed a change in the last 6 months. More temporary staff coming in- some speak very little or poor English. Pills have been left for her to take by herself and family have noticed when visiting. There appears to be discontent among staff, which means it is not as happy as it use to be. Communication can be unclear, with mixed messages being relayed sometimes. I feel like staff work hard within a not so great system.

My mum has now been at cartref for 3 years . I cannot express how amazing the care has been over this time . Alongside this the staff are so supportive to me as her daughter. I go several times a week and am always met with a welcome . Mum has been quite challenging to care for in the last year . However
with a personalised approach and individualised care she is still there which is important to her and us as a local home.
I would totally recommend Cartref !!! The home is spotlessly clean and is a homely environment. Maybe could do with some refurbishment here and there but then wouldnt anyone's home ! !
Birthdays and special occasions are always celebrated and everyone gets a birthday cake !
There is a lovely garden to sit in and usually a good range of activities. I like that you can turn up to visit anytime and you are welcomed . Can't thank Leanne and her team enough for all they do. If I needed a residential home in the future I really hope it would be like this one !!

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible care and compassion we have received over the years at Cartref.
From the very beginning, the love, dignity, and attentiveness my mum received at Cartref brought comfort not only to her, but to all of us who loved her. Knowing

When I have needed to ask the management for help or assistance I find them extremely obliging and very supportive to deal with.
I
find my friend, for the most part very content and accepting of what for her is a difficult situation
