The Foresters is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide care for 30 individuals with nursing needs.

It is part of the Clarendon Care Group which consists of 6 uniquely different care homes within the Midlands.

The charm of the home is that although each of the rooms is a little different from its neighbour, all have a beautiful view over the gardens and surrounding countryside which offers a feeling of peace and tranquillity unlikely to be found in a city setting.

The home is small, it has a homely feel and the home builds on this by encouraging residents to personalise their rooms with pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture that are important to them.

The home has a team of highly trained, dedicated staff who will do everything possible to make the residents stay as pleasant as it can be and hope that with time this will become the residents home too.

I cannot express my gratitude to all the staff for the care and attention that my father was given. Nothing was too much trouble. Kind words were offered from the beginning of the day to the end. Words, compassion, care, dignity and love are words I use when prescribing the Foresters staff.

It is a pleasure to write this review on behalf of our family for the excellent care shown to my very special uncle; we are extremely grateful for all the empathy, compassion, kindness and care beyond the norm shown to him in his last days.

During the two years that my mother was a resident, she was shown nothing but love and kindness. All the staff were very caring and they looked after her really well. Whenever me and my daughter visited her we were given a warm welcome by all the staff, as were all her other relatives who visited her.

The Foresters looked after my father for 2.5 years after he suffered a major stroke.
The staff were excellent with caring for his needs and always tried to encourage him in getting better.
All of his needs were met and they would go the extra mile to make him comfortable and calm him when he got agitated.
I
was always kept informed of his condition and any changes and when he had any mishap.
He could be a challenging resident at times but the staff were always kind and understanding.
The staff have done a fantastic job in keeping all residents safe during this covid crisis and at no point did I feel my Father was at any risk.
In the end, all staff were understanding, sympathetic and moved heaven and earth to make this time easier to deal with and ensure as a family we knew his last days were comfortable and he was not alone.

From the moment I saw Foresters nursing home I just knew it would be the perfect place for dad. It's extremely hard making the decision but my instincts proved right.
Dad was very poorly and needed care 24/7. They showed him the love and attention he so deserved and I felt peace of mind knowing he
was in caring hands.
They work so very hard, with long hours and minimal pay. They deserve so much praise.
I can only say thank you with all my heart. Anyone who has the tough decision to make of finding a caring home for a loved one will find the Foresters the right choice.

They care for our mother. We have been extremely happy with all the care she needs. She has been in the home now for almost a year, and we have never had any problems or issues with anything.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Mum is happy and content, and we
have peace of mind that she is being well looked after.
The activities are well organised and varied.
The food is very nutritious and is served with a smile. If Mum doesn’t want a large meal; she is always offered an alternative.
As visitors, we are always welcome, and they have nothing to hide.
The whole building is old but sparkling clean, light and airy. No smell at all; as in the case of some.
To sum up, we would highly recommend anyone using their facilities if they need care for a loved one.

My mother was admitted to Foresters from hospital. We expected her to be there for four weeks. In the end, it turned into 10 weeks while Social Services were sorting out what sort of care Mom needed. While we were waiting for provision to be sorted out, Mom was treated with loving care and attention
to detail with regard to the medication and the personal care she needed. Mom was towards the end of her dementia journey and she deteriorated quickly over her time in Foresters. The care staff were aware of her needs and her mood changes and tried very hard to make Mom as comfortable as possible in spite of mood changes and aggression. The staff consulted with the family at all stages of Mom's deterioration and we were able to express our wishes and know that they would be acted upon. Mom had excellent care and, as a family, we were enabled to be with Mom quietly as she passed away. Staff enabled Mom to die well and we would recommend the high standard of the care they offer.

On return from holiday, I was distressed to find that my Mum had deteriorated to such an extent that she was now doubly incontinent, very confused and in physical pain. Within 5 hours of calling Foresters Mum was in, safe and being cared for. It wasn't easy but two weeks later she felt fit and well.
She will never be who she was but at least she is now stabilised.

My father was at Foresters after leaving hospital for approximately 7 weeks.

The care he received was very good. Some of the carers were excellent with my father.

Thank you for caring for my father. He was treated with dignity, patience and understanding.

I had never heard of the care home before, so visited it unannounced just before my husband went in. We were made very welcome and shown round including seeing the room my husband would have. All staff were friendly and lovely.
My husband was there for 2 weeks while I was away on holiday. On my return,
I could see he had been very well looked after and had been encouraged to keep mobile - so necessary for him. He was clean, clothes were too. Thank you to all staff for looking after him so well. While away, I sent photos of grandchildren to the manager and she kindly showed them to my husband. So kind.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.271)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.271) out of 10 for Foresters Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.671 for Foresters Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.671
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Foresters Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
