I can't recommend The Hawthorns highly enough. From the moment my dad come in here, they have been caring, professional and certainly go above and beyond. They have put our families mind at rest during the most difficult time in our lives. I know my dad is in the best place. Thank you all!

My husband has early-onset dementia, so I was not expecting to use a care home for someone in his 50's. However, I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care given. I am always kept fully informed of how he is and the care he is receiving. I know that my husband has challenging behaviour,
but he is always treated with care and respect. I can only speak highly of The Hawthorns.

I can't rate Hawthorns Care home enough ... my mum, who has dementia, has been so well cared for by the most pleasant, well mannered, caring staff, who have made her feel safe, happy and well this last 11-months, and to all her family, this means the world.
Thank you.

Choosing a nursing home for a much-loved family member is one of the most difficult decisions to make. My husband was only in The Hawthornes for a short time before he died but, six months on, we remain certain that our decision was the best possible one. He was treated with loving care and total professionalism
by every member of staff who came into contact with him. We, his family, were equally supported and cared for - thank you all so much.

The Hawthorns is an amazing care home with highly professional dedicated staff that all go above and beyond their duties.
Staff make myself and family members visiting our loved one very welcome. The home itself is always very clean and tidy.
I truly would not want my loved one to be anywhere else.

My mum has been in The Hawthorns for a while now, and it really is a home from home. The staff are amazing, caring, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They make us feel so welcome when we visit, especially our elderly father when he came to visit his wife of 65-years. He recently became too ill
himself and sadly passed away, but as we spent more time with him as his health declined, we were confident that our mum was being well cared for.
With the current situation, they are kind enough to keep us updated with her health and well being.
I cannot praise this nursing home enough; it deserves the outstanding award it has achieved. Thank you!

Hawthorns have given my husband the best love and attention, both nursing and daily care, that one could wish for.
I cannot recommend it enough and am continually praising their service to all I meet. During this terrible crisis, when these most vulnerable people are so at risk, Hawthorns has kept
me up to date with my husband's condition and been most accommodating in what must be a very difficult situation. Thank you to all the staff, from the bottom of my heart.

Mum has now been a resident at The Hawthorns for just over two years now. She has Alzheimer's. I couldn't think of a better place for her to be cared for. The entire staff are so caring. Nothing is too much trouble. They always have time for you and have the patience of saints. They are also very professional.
When visiting, you are made to feel very welcome and are treated with kindness. There are also the special little touches on special occasions when the staff put themselves out, like Birthdays, Christmas and other special events. The last Royal Wedding was watched with residents having had bonnets made by the staff. Lovely. I am very thankful to all the staff.

I and my daughter were highly satisfied with the care my husband received in The Hawthorns. He was a difficult resident to deal with due to dementia he had, but I cannot fault the care he had. His carers trusted him with dignity, patience and kindness at all times. His room was kept very clean and there
was never any smell associated with some care homes. The activities are improving with a new leader. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Always staff are willing to assist you with any information and support. I phoned into the care home today to arrange an end of life pathway for my mother and they couldn't be more helpful with information on which staff would be able to arrange this. Thank you.

We have been extremely impressed with every aspect of The Hawthorns from the first contact to my wife's final passing. The philosophy of its management is apparent and consistent at every level and in every discipline. I could not have wished for my wife to be in a more loving environment. Every need
was taken care of in a gentle, sympathetic and loving way. Recognising that she was a younger person, every effort was made to identify and satisfy her feminine preferences. We were encouraged to make her room her personal space with pictures, flowers etc. Everybody that has visited has been of the same opinion - that you cannot imagine any better care anywhere.

My personal view after this difficult journey is that The Hawthorns is an industry benchmark for this type of specialist care.

After an unhappy experience at the last nursing home and coming to and bringing in my father-in-law to The Hawthorns was a marvellous revelation. The management and staff clearly care for the residents and it's obvious when we go that all the information about him is shared. This is in stark contrast
to the last home.
My father-in-law is treated with dignity and forbearance by all The Hawthorns. I can't praise it enough.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.309)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.309) out of 10 for The Hawthorns Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.534 for The Hawthorns Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.534
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Hawthorns Nursing Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
