I cannot put into words the compassion and care Julie & her team gave to our our terminally ill Mum in the last 5 weeks of her life. After a tough 12 months of intermittent visits to A & E and hospital beds she finally received the care & comfort she needed.

As a family we felt it was the first time we had been listened to. Staff would spend time offering advice to us to answer any difficult questions or concerns we had for Mum, we felt like they were caring for us all as a family, it was so humbling. It has made this whole journey easier to process. Also such a beautiful building for Mum to spend her final days. We will never forget your kindness xx

I have visited Mowbray regularly for many years to visit residents, chat with them and to take a monthly Christian service for anyone who wishes to join in. I am always welcomed warmly by staff and residents and they all seem happy and contented. The staff are friendly and good-natured, and they do their best for the residents, considering that they have so many to care for and that the house is not easy to work in, with rambling corridors and several sets of stairs. The residents are well-cared for and those like myself who visit for a specific purpose are welcomed as part of the residents' care, not as an 'added extra' or an inconvenience. Julie (the Manager) is lovely and often asks me to visit a specific person who may be settling in, or struggling with a change of circumstances.

I really enjoy visiting at Mowbray and have recommended it to people as a place to go for respite or for residential care.

Since the moment my mum came to you, you received her and the rest of us with open arms. My mum was greeted like a queen and Julie took my hand too, just knowing that this new beginning was hard. We are now 5 months in and you have transformed my mum - she is happy, safe and lovingly cared for. Getting older is tough for all but you treat our mum with such dignity and love, let alone the laughter and banter! We cannot thank you enough. You have been such a light when we were struggling. For whatever time she has left, we know she is in the right place. Thank you.

My mother recently spent some time there for respite, and it's a lovely home.

Very welcoming, the staff seemed to care. The deputy manager, Jenny, was excellent. She made my mother feel very special and actually spent time with her to welcome her to the home, an excellent home for a respite stay

Very pleased with care provided, attitude and friendly nature of carers and overall consideration given to the specific needs and requirements of my mother.
She eat & drank well, with continual encouragement, and the staff were sympathetic and empathetic of her abilities.

She was only on respite care for a week but seemed to enjoy the experience and would be very happy to return.

The only slight downside was the building and facilities - whilst being clean & hygienic it was all a bit 'tired' , but thats a small price to pay for the overall experience.

Thank you

My dad was very poorly when he arrived at The Mowbray in April 2025 and from the moment of his arrival the staff could not have been more attentive to his very complex needs. The kindness, compassion and sheer professionalism shown towards him by staff at all times was so appreciated by myself and my family. Dad was a very private man - he didn't want to socialise outside of his room but company was brought to him and he spoke highly of every one, including the lovely therapy dog, and he loved the food! Thanks so much to one special staff member (you know who you are!) who gave us regular updates as dad neared his end. He passed the early hours of the morning after his 89th and he couldn't have been given a better send off with the fuss they made of him the day before. A heartful thank you.

Also, a huge thank you for putting up with our daily visits, with food parcels, laughs and tears. We miss you.

Our dear Mum received palliative care at Mowbray Nursing Home for the last 10 weeks of her life after being transferred from St Richards Hospice. The staff at the home provided excellent care with dignity and compassion. Nursing staff always did their best to keep Mum as comfortable as possible with her progressing illness. Staff always kept our family fully informed of any changes in health or medication adjustments. Staff also gave emotional support with empathy to my Dad and ourselves too.

Mum had a pleasant room which looked out to the rear garden. The home is kept spotless at all times and the meals are all freshly cooked. The in-house laundry service was excellent and freshly laundered items were always delivered to Mum with a smile. Nothing seems too much trouble for staff who all work tirelessly to do their best to tend to residents needs. In Mum's last few days the excellent nursing care gave Mum a peaceful end for which as a family we shall always be grateful.

My late wife spent the final 2 months of her life in palliative care at Mowbray for terminal cancer. The care, compassion and understanding she and myself received was outstanding.
All staff showed a genuine commitment to giving the very best care and treatment for my wife.

In her final few challenging days, the support for both my wife and myself was all I could have hoped it would be.

A family atmosphere is apparent when visiting the home. Residents are cared for by friendly professional staff and treated with dignity. My Mum was well cared for and encouraged to join in a range of activities, available most days. She enjoyed the daily freshly cooked food and eating with some of the other residents in the dining room every day. I was kept up to date with information about my mum regularly and there was very much an open door policy to discuss any concerns with staff at any time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home.

My Aunt (I also hold Power of Attorney) has lived at Mowbray for several years, - she chose there after a short post-hospital respite as she liked the food. From the outset we found the staff kind, friendly, helpful, welcoming and informative. Over recent years her condition has deteriorated and is now completely reliant upon care. Several years later we continue to be highly satisfied with the care and attention she receives and the information provided to us as and when necessary.

Unfortunately Dad was nearing the end of his life and needed nursing care. We knew his stay in Mowbray Nursing Home would be relatively short; you do question the decision and there were moments of doubt. However, we need not have worried. From the moment of arrival were met with kindness, compassion and an understanding of our emotional needs. I simply cannot praise the staff highly enough. The environment was excellent and the room chosen for Dad was perfect. Being able to come and go as we pleased was such a positive, as well as knowing assistance was always close by. Nothing was too much trouble. I was very impressed by all the nursing staff. We continually had updates throughout Dad's time there. It's clear to me that a dedicated cohesive team exists at Mowbray. Special thanks to one staff member in particular, as she really put us all at ease and ensured Dad was well cared for. I will be eternally grateful for how she managed Dad's end of life and her compassion shown at the end. I will never forget her.

My father was at Mowbray for almost a year and no one could have wished for a better end to his life. Everyone treated him with unfailing kindness, compassion and good humour and he effectively found himself part of a new and welcoming family. The staff were always available to keep us up to date with his condition: this was always done with great professionalism and warmth; nothing was ever too much trouble.

My thanks go to every single one of the team for everything they did for my father. We were fortunate to find Mowbray and he was fortunate to spend his last year there.

We would like to thank everyone at Mowbray for the excellent care my father received during his last year. We could not have wished for a better, more caring environment than Mowbray. The staff made the effort to really get to know my father and would often call into his room just for a chat or to check on him. We know he really appreciated these visits as he would always talk about them and pass on all the latest news to us. During his final days, he was given the comfort and reassurance he needed and he died peacefully with a nurse at his side. We could not have asked for more. Thank you all.

Providing a review of my mother's stay at Mowbray Court is a pleasure. I always come away after visiting feeling all was well and even though she was bedridden she was getting the best of care in a very homely environment. The staff were exceptionally kind and cheerful and the leaders in charge were most supportive in realising the needs of individual patients and in keeping everything running smoothly. It was greatly reassuring that everything was immaculately clean and my mother was attended to promptly at all times. The home is located on a very quiet, safe and attractive road and fronted by a spectacular garden. Last but not least the food is cooked on-site and my mother found it most enjoyable. Mowbray is a very special place if you have a loved one in need of care.

My mother was at Mowbray for just over 2 years. She enjoyed her time there which was because all the staff were so friendly. They worked hard to satisfy Mum's regular calls for help even though she would often forget why she called for them. The room was kept very clean and tidy which enjoyed a nice view over the garden. I applaud the staff's professionalism.
