New Milton House

from C W (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Mum only joined you recently, but settled quite quickly due mainly to the staff. She missed walking every day. She has been out on walks with carers. She loved her Monday soup and sing at church. She was thrilled to go last week. She loves watching through her window, joining in activities and, very
important to mum, good food!

When I mentioned her feeling uncomfortable about the noise from rooms between hers and the toilet, this was dealt with quickly. Thank you.

New Milton House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum was at New Milton Care Home for 7 months in total, initially as respite, then it became more permanent after a month. The staff at New Milton House Care Home helped mum to settle in, and ensured she was safe and happy at all times. All of the staff are excellent, including the administration,
management, cooks, cleaners, carers, and maintenance staff - who all had a huge smile and spoke kindly to the residents and families. Mum was taken out on regular trips and took part in numerous activities arranged by the fabulous activity team. Mum always had good and positive words to say about the food, and they are offered hot and cold drinks regularly. The onsite hairdresser was amazing, and made mum look better than she had in years. The end of life care given to mum, ensured her final days were as comfortable as possible. I would not hesitate to recommend New Milton House Care Home.

Red Hill

from Carole F (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum suffered with Dementia and was on Redhill's Topaz wing until her recent death.
The staff were so caring, compassionate and competent. It felt like a home from home in the way they cared for our whole family.
The enrichment activities really give mum something to enjoy, when she could. The
nursing care at the end was seamless.
There are, undoubtedly, newer, smarter looking care homes in the area. However, for quality of care ( including a lack of use of agency care) I would highly recommend Redhill.

The Hawthorns

from K W (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 November 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum, who suffers from Dementia, has been staying at the Hawthorns since leaving hospital in August. During her stay the Staff have been quite magnificent from the top management team down through to the all the lovely staff. Her room is large and kept extremely clean and she has a choice of different
lounges to go to and meet with other residents, all of which have a TV or radio. Meal times are frequent and varied with cups of tea (a must!) available at all times of the day! The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for her to keep her happy and occupied. Friday hair salon days are a special treat! I can visit her every day and I am kept up to date with any issues, however minor, and the management and staff couldn't be more helpful. Themed days (Halloween etc) are enthusiastically delivered and we can't wait to see the visiting reindeer at Christmas! I am so pleased that my Mum is being looked after so well and that she is so happy with her new friends and "permanent home".

Staff are kind and caring, links with GP are good. I have no concerns about my mum's wellbeing or care. The location is good, situated in a housing estate away from noise and it has a big garden for residents. The building itself could do with a little TLC but it becomes less important given all
the former pluses.

My mum moved into Amberley House on 15th May 2025. Since moving here, mum has settled well. I am very impressed with the way the service is run. The care and support Mum has is first class. The home is spotless. There is a menu up on the wall, so I can see what she is having on that day. Staff are very
accommodating and welcoming. They have many activities, which mum likes, especially shopping. I couldn't wish for anything more for her, and I am truly happy in the service she has.

Mum was moved from another care home in Liskeard at the request of ASC due to finance. The move has gone extremely well. Mum has settled very well, staff have been excellent with Mum. Lots of activities going on. Mum has been out of her room every day and mixing with other residents, which has helped
her settle in well. I have found Mum more expressive and more able to hold a conversation, which was not so good before. We as a family are really pleased with Mum's care.

After being slightly unsettled for the first couple of weeks my Mum began to love being there.. All the staff from domestics, carers, kitchen staff, maintenance men and the managers, and activities ladies were absolutely fabulous and so caring.
She had her own little room with everything she needed,
the bathroom was just across the corridor from her room.
There was activities most weeks which she enjoyed joining in, something she has never bothered with before. The food is fabulous and Mum has never eaten so well. You can visit any time that you want to and always made to feel welcome.
If she wanted a chat there was always someone there for her.
Mum was in there for approximately 19 months, she had her 94th birthday in there 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately Mum passed away last week unexpectedly, she wasn't poorly it was just old age. We were treated with compassion by all the staff.
I wouldn't hesitate to put any relative in Lakeland care home, they are so caring.

My husband had booked 2 weeks of respite care, but on his discharge from hospital on 8th September, he was terminally ill, we were reassured that the room was his as long as we needed - it was almost 7 weeks. The managers and all staff were professional, attentive, good company, with the skills necessary
for his care.
The palliative/end-of-life care was excellent, with appropriate medication. The freedom of visiting enabled friends and family to spend valuable time with him. His only criticisms were "thin toilet paper" and sometimes being missed by the tea/coffee trolley. There was great care and dignity when he died.

Look past the chipped paintwork. What makes a good home is the people. I cannot fault the care here. The staff are unfailingly caring, cheerful and react to any request straight away. You are always important to them. The food is good, old fashioned British. The staff engage the residents in activities
as much as they are able to. Non of our children have any reservations about Redhill.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care that my aunt received during her time at Florence Grogan. The manageress runs this home with impeccable professionalism which ensures that all residents are looked after in the most safe and compassionate way. It is a very homely environment which made it so
much easier for my aunt to leave her own home. The manageress ensured that her family were included in every process and were always treated with such friendliness. I will always be grateful for my aunt receiving the very best of care which made me feel totally content that she was totally safe and happy.
A very big thank you to the excellent manageress and all her hard working and caring staff. You all do such a wonderful job.

Our dear Mum received palliative care at Mowbray Nursing Home for the last 10 weeks of her life after being transferred from St Richards Hospice. The staff at the home provided excellent care with dignity and compassion. Nursing staff always did their best to keep Mum as comfortable as possible with
her progressing illness. Staff always kept our family fully informed of any changes in health or medication adjustments. Staff also gave emotional support with empathy to my Dad and ourselves too.
Mum had a pleasant room which looked out to the rear garden. The home is kept spotless at all times and the meals are all freshly cooked. The in-house laundry service was excellent and freshly laundered items were always delivered to Mum with a smile. Nothing seems too much trouble for staff who all work tirelessly to do their best to tend to residents needs. In Mum's last few days the excellent nursing care gave Mum a peaceful end for which as a family we shall always be grateful.
