I cannot speak highly enough of the care that my aunt received during her time at Florence Grogan. The manageress runs this home with impeccable professionalism which ensures that all residents are looked after in the most safe and compassionate way. It is a very homely environment which made it so
much easier for my aunt to leave her own home. The manageress ensured that her family were included in every process and were always treated with such friendliness. I will always be grateful for my aunt receiving the very best of care which made me feel totally content that she was totally safe and happy.
A very big thank you to the excellent manageress and all her hard working and caring staff. You all do such a wonderful job.

The care home staff are very welcome. The care given is very good. Nice no strict rules like going to bed. Very clean freshly cooked food. Just seemed short staffed a lot if pressure on staff. We did not know what activities offered shame something not in the rooms to tell you. My mum did not like calling
staff as knew busy so did not go in lounge stayed in her room after meals. Everyone very kind and helpful.

Mowbray Nursing Home

from Laura J (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our dear Mum received palliative care at Mowbray Nursing Home for the last 10 weeks of her life after being transferred from St Richards Hospice. The staff at the home provided excellent care with dignity and compassion. Nursing staff always did their best to keep Mum as comfortable as possible with
her progressing illness. Staff always kept our family fully informed of any changes in health or medication adjustments. Staff also gave emotional support with empathy to my Dad and ourselves too.
Mum had a pleasant room which looked out to the rear garden. The home is kept spotless at all times and the meals are all freshly cooked. The in-house laundry service was excellent and freshly laundered items were always delivered to Mum with a smile. Nothing seems too much trouble for staff who all work tirelessly to do their best to tend to residents needs. In Mum's last few days the excellent nursing care gave Mum a peaceful end for which as a family we shall always be grateful.

The staff at Hillcrest were extremely helpful and thoughtful throughout. My step-dad's brief visit. They healed him extremely well in quite difficult circumstances.
In particular, Dom's - dealt with his passing in a kind and thoughtful manner and made the experience more manageable.
Thanks all!

Staff are generally very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Mum doesn't participate in all the activities provided, but does enjoy the social element of being able to watch some of them.

The guest rooms are ok, not overly warm. The bathroom door needs replacing, a bit tired and worn. Also should be more than 1 shower rooms - times limited for guests to be showered. My mum only given 1 shower in 13 days, having requested more.
Food never very hot.
More activities to include going
off site occasionally.
High standard of cleanliness.
Staff are considerate of all residents and show real care.

My mother was a resident at Sovereign House following discharge from hospital by the NHS. She was mostly bedridden and needed a lot of care and nursing support. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. They went the extra mile to make my mother's stay comfortable.

Holcroft Grange were very welcoming from the first phone call. Dad initially started as a 4 week respite stay, which has converted to permanent. The most important thing for me is Dad says 'he feels safe' and cared for, and he had stopped feeling safe at home on his own. Holcroft Grange is spotless
and the staff are warm and caring. There is a good range of activities available, and the position of the home means we can take Dad out into the village. I'm not sure we could have found anywhere better.

My dad has been a resident at Ancliffe for over 2 years, and is extremely happy and settled. Dad has Parkinson's, but is mentally in excellent condition. The staff are amazing, caring and lovely people. They spend time chatting with dad and are also welcoming on our frequent visits. Dad has been very
ill this summer, after a fall and fractured femur. The staff have gone out of their way to care for him and support him. He calls it home. Ancliffe might not have the best kerb appeal, and the rooms may be small, but it is a home filled with love and care - it is brilliant, and we as a family love it and the staff.

My late wife spent the final 2 months of her life in palliative care at Mowbray for terminal cancer. The care, compassion and understanding she and myself received was outstanding.
All staff showed a genuine commitment to giving the very best care and treatment for my wife.
In her final few challenging
days, the support for both my wife and myself was all I could have hoped it would be.

Wordsley Hall is a very good home, and all the staff are very kind and caring. I have had two members of my family at the home. Mother and aunty and they were looked after and cared for till the end. My mother passed away 3 years ago, and when my aunty had to go into a home, we had no hesitation to
get her into Wordsley Hall. We knew she would be well looked after. She sadly passed away on 9th October 2025.

My aunt was welcomed into Wordsley Hall in February 2025 and was always cared for and provided for by a very caring team. I noticed that all of the residents were treated with respect, compassion and a sense of humour. It struck me as a happy place, and we would like to thank the management and staff
for all the love and care they gave my aunt and sympathies on her sudden death. Thank you all.

I am happy that my wife has lived in Hillcrest House for over 4 years, as she is well looked after. Care is given consistently and with genuine affection. There appears to be little turnover of staff, and the carers know the residents well, although sometimes information is not passed over from shift
to shift. I am always amazed at how the carers cope in the advanced dementia unit, displaying seemingly endless reserves of patience. The physical fabric of the home is slowly improving, but Trevena upstairs needs new windows. More staff dedicated to activities would help.
