The Review Score of 8.1 out of 10 for Harmony House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Harmony House in Google's Search Results – more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4 for Harmony House is calculated as follows: ( (15 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 4.101 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harmony House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3.00 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75
Target of 11.4 positive Reviews (57 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 11.4 Target = 0.351

My mom stayed here only for a week before she sadly passed away, and I can't thank the staff enough especially one lady in particular who was there for me and supported me when mom passed away. I cant thank you all enough. Thank you.

As we now have a new management team things are really picking up and everyone seems happier. My husband went into H H in May 2016 for respite and other illnesses he had in hospital. After 3 weeks, he had his first of many pressure sores on his feet, he still cannot stand as they are not properly cleaned, but are very much better. We didn't realise at the time this was due to his bed being too short in length and it took until January 2017 to get a longer bed. We bought many things to try to alleviate the problem. His pain must have been terrible and his stay could have been shorter as we thought his respite would have been.

This care home is not having enough staff to give the care needed for the nursing floor. When it comes to personal care and pad changes it does not give the residents the support they need if suffering from dementia. We have numerous times spoken with the manager.

Ann Simmonds, Regional Manager at Harmony House responded to this review on 09 Aug 2016:
I am very sorry to read that you would be unlikely to recommend Harmony House to others and that you feel some areas are of a poor standard.
We take all concerns seriously and would like to invite you to raise any concerns that you may have with myself, the Regional Manager, so that they can be discussed in detail. I hope that we can make improvements and that you will be able to follow this review up again in the near future with more positive comments if you feel that things have improved.
