Due to the current COVID situation, I cannot express how helpful I found the team at Harmony House with regards to visits and video contact. They truly have been a godsend to us. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for all your hard work and dedication.

What can one say? Moving Mum into a care home is amongst the hardest things I've had to do. Especially as a week of respite care provided by a different home had disastrous consequences. The first few weeks were so difficult for me as I had to learn to trust. The staff as a whole are friendly and welcoming. Since Mum has been there, needing total care, she is always clean, looks well cared for and appears happy and comfortable. The staff are a happy team and in my opinion often go above and beyond.

My dad has been at Harmony since December 2015 after taking ill suddenly a few months earlier. It came as a real shock to myself and my brother that Dad had gone from being perfectly fit and healthy, to then realise he wouldn’t recover from his illness enough to ever return home. The prospect of having to find someone else to permanently care for him was worrying but we made a choice, we chose Harmony House. It turned out to be a great decision and one we’re pleased to have made for him. Dad quickly settled into his new home, is very content and well looked after. As his family we are thankful to the wonderful staff who have made an upsetting situation much easier for us all. We know Dad is comfortable and cared for. It gives us enormous peace of mind to know he is safe and happy.

My wife moved into Harmony House just over 12-months ago on end of life care from the hospital. Now three stone heavier, eating anything given to her thanks to the dedicated staff of the home, she is happy and contented. Due to pandemic, I have not seen her for 11-weeks, but due to assistants from her carer, I can speak to her via Facebook each week. Thank you to all the staff for there work.

My dad's not been there too long and already it's by far fantastic. The staff are brilliant, helpful, kind, respectful, funny, they're always willing to help no matter what, even if they're busy. The manageress is good at her job, helpful, gets things done when needed. We would recommend this home to anyway who is looking for a nursing home.

I'd like to thank all the staff and management. They all looked after my mum who was having palliative care in Harmony House. They looked after her with dignity and care.

I'll be ever grateful to you all. You made my mum's last weeks comfortable as she could be. Brilliant care.

This care home had helped my great-grandma so much. I asked her if she was okay and she said as long as your with me. She has had 2 strokes and the staff her has helped her learn to speak again. Just want to say thanks for everything and I would recommend this to other people in a difficult position with family members.

Last week my husband celebrated his 80th birthday at Harmony House and we celebrated with a party attended by approximately 24 people. The work the staff did to make it a special day was excellent. The activities lady was excellent, and when we arrived thinking we would need to do a lot of work everything was prepared, the room looked lovely. Kitchen staff had put a great buffet and sweets plus a birthday cake on, so he had 2 cakes as we didn't expect this. We had a slide show of our photo's also. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The next morning my daughter and I went approximately 11.00 am expecting to tidy the room, but everywhere was cleaned and spotless. Very well done to all the staff.

Harmony House has become part of our family, we are welcomed with a smile and made to feel very much at home. Recently we celebrated my Dad's 80th birthday and nothing was too much trouble for his special day with a party arranged. Personal and healthcare needs are well met and there are lots of activities on for residents to be involved in.

My mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital on 18th April. I received a phone call from a nurse at the hospital on the 20th saying that Social Care has been informed should they be needed and that she would not be admitted back into Harmony House. Also, the manager would assess her on the 23rd. I spoke to the staff who repeatedly informed me of the assessment. I asked if they could get the manager to call me on the 23rd with information. At this stage, my wife and I had no idea just what was and would be happening. My wife received a call from Social Care on the 26th confirming no return to Harmony House. Apart from me making the trip to Harmony House to speak to staff which was ineffectual, we have heard nothing whatsoever regarding the future of our mother since we were told she had been taken to hospital on the 18th. This is not acceptable.

I have always found the staff to be friendly, polite and helpful. One thing that is very noticeable - the residents are always in bed.

Could some activities be organised to get them out of bed for a while?

This care home is not having enough staff to give the care needed for the nursing floor. When it comes to personal care and pad changes it does not give the residents the support they need if suffering from dementia. We have numerous times spoken with the manager.
