Our mum is 96 years old. The family home was sold some years ago and she has since lived in another home, her wish was always to come to Gleavewood. Early days but all is good, the staff go above and beyond so so friendly and welcoming which makes us as a family very grateful. Mum has a lovely room,
food and all the ongoing care is amazing what a great team at Gleavewood. Thank you all so much.
Reply from Julie Wansbrough, Home Manager at GleavewoodThank you so much for feedback, we are absolutely thrilled to hear that you think so highly of our team. After visiting several of the larger care homes, my sister and I were convinced that we would never place our mum in one. However, when her dementia began to worsen, we decided to look at some smaller homes instead.

Gleavewood was recommended to us by a friend who is a local GP. As soon as we visited,

we knew immediately that it was the right place for Mum. Because it is much smaller, each resident is treated as an individual rather than just another number.

Our mum is thriving there, and that is entirely thanks to the wonderful staff. Their care, compassion, and dedication are evident every day, and the fact that many of them have been there for years speaks volumes about the home. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

Reply from Julie Wansbrough, Home Manager at GleavewoodThank you so much for your lovely words. We love having your mum here and are so pleased to see her thriving. It is a privilege to care for her, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.

I have been a resident at Gleavewood since January 2025 and during that time all of the staff have looked after me with respect and care. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My room is cleaned daily and my washing is done as required. The choice of food is good and my teacup is regularly filled!!
All
my personal health issues are looked after by all of the staff without any complaints. I am thoroughly enjoying my time at Gleavewood and I feel completely relaxed and at home.
A big thank you to all.

As always when entering the building I am always met by helpful and pleasant staff. I have never had any negative feelings about anyone. The atmosphere is also so pleasesnt around all staff and patients. My friend wants for nothing from facilities to the food available in the restaurant to room service.
The carers are excellent with everyone. This is the carehome that I would love to be able to go to when my position changes. I cannot prase Gleavewood care home enough. My friend is totally comfortable and more importantly feels very safe within the home. It makes me very happy that he feels secure and settled.

My sister and I have recently moved by mum into Gleavewood, due to her worsening Dementia.

All staff are amazing with her, they are so kind and nothing is too much trouble. Little things like playing her favourite music for her make so much difference and are really appreciated.

They have made

the whole transition so easy for us and have been very supportive and reassuring.

As is the case for all families, placing your beloved Mum into the care of strangers is an extremely worrying experience. However, we quickly knew that Gleavewood is absolutely the right place for Mum; she has been shown such kindness and care since moving here in April 2025, and she can't speak highly
enough of the staff and what they do for her.
Mum enjoys the activities that are available to her during the week, and the food is really good with lots of variety. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure she is happy and comfortable, and for that we are so grateful.
As Mum isn't very mobile at the moment, it has been lovely to be able to sit outside in the garden with her on sunny days.
From entering the building, you know immediately that this is a warm and happy place, and the staff really do care about the residents.
We can't recommend Gleavewood and the team here highly enough.

My mum moved into Gleavewood in March, which was an anxious time/change for us all, as mum is 98 years old and very independent. The management and staff have made mum's transition seamless, showing her care, compassion and understanding. Nothing is too much at Gleavewood who I can't thank enough as
the previous 4 months have been extremely stressful. I can finally sleep at night and rest knowing mum is being looked after with compassion and respect. Thank you so much for everything you have done and do for mum.

Following a fall that hospitalised my Dad, he was eventually moved to Gleavewood for respite care. He has been in Gleavewood for almost 6 weeks and the standard of care has been excellent which is helping Dad so much to get back to normal. It has taken a weight of our families mind knowing that he is
being cared for by pleasant, professional and helpful care staff. Thank you all very much.

I have always found the staff really helpful and always ready to find time to explain about any situations that may arise. All the staff are very professional in everything they do, and this give you reassurance that the residents are being well looked after. Gleavewood Care home itself always seems

I chose Gleavewood for my sister because it is small, friendly and calm. 3 staff members in particular were down to earth and helpful. Move from CareHome on South Coast was a worry. We needed staff who understood and would cater to my Sister's particular needs. So far I am pleased. One member of staff
is very involved and deals with any problems. One thing, perhaps big TV could be tuned to suitable i.e Nature/Sport programmes.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.889)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.889) out of 10 for Gleavewood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for Gleavewood is calculated as follows: ( (331 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 371 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gleavewood is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
