Since our Mother became a resident at Gleavewood we as a family have been extremely impressed with the level of care that she has received. The staff at the home quickly became familiar with her care needs and cognition, and have ensured that her personal care is of the highest level. Our mother's nutrition
and mobility have greatly improved since she joined the home, due in no small part to the efforts of the care staff and management. Communication with the family has been second to none, and when visiting our Mother or enquiring after her by telephone we have always been greeted with warmth and courtesy. The feeling of myself and my family is that she has been extremely lucky to have become a resident at Gleavewood, and we are extremely grateful for everything that the staff provide for her every day.

I have visited my father again today and as usual, found the home to be friendly and welcoming. The staff are lovely and genuinely interested in my father and his story. They are attentive and caring and constantly check on residents in their rooms or day room. I know my dad feels safe and cared for
at the home. He is offered plenty of warm or cold drinks throughout the day and the food is homecooked and varied. If he does not want his tea, he does not go hungry as supper is always offered and available.
If I need to speak to a member of staff, either caring or office staff, they are on hand and my questions answered and my dad's needs met. There are varied activities planned which residents are actively encouraged to join in with. A monthly newsletter is produced which is informative for both residents and visitors. The home is lovely and clean. It is not easy moving a family member into permanent residential care but Gleavewood makes the transition easier and smoother. Well done all.

Mam was taken ill very rapidly she was in a trance-like state from the Tuesday to Thursday night. The care and love they gave her were marvellous. They are brilliant. I can't put into words how grateful I was and am for what they did. The boss of your company should come down to and thank them. I will
pass on to others.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all of the staff who have cared and helped my mother. She is so happy and has made friends whilst in the home. I call the staff my little angels, as they sort out anything for you.
Although I have one fault, she has gone up a dress size, with all the good
meals, it's costing us a fortune in new clothes! (joke).
Overall, they have made an old lady very happy in her old age. Couldn't be better.

I can't just name one of the staff here at Gleavewood but all they are good kind and I would state dedicated to the very good job they do, to the activities they do their very best considering some of the problems that the residents have, plus a lot of them go out of their way to do things for them.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Gleavewood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Gleavewood is calculated as follows: ( (352 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 414 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gleavewood is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
