I cannot thank all the staff at Hillcrest enough for the care, kindness and compassion they showed my grandma during her final days.

After spending a long time in hospital, my grandma was transferred to Hillcrest for end-of-life care. It was an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our whole family, but knowing she was somewhere safe, comfortable and well cared for meant so much to us.

Having her at Hillcrest in looe, close to her home and family, was especially important to us. The staff helped make such a heartbreaking time a little easier, and we will always be grateful for the support and care she received.

The staff at Amberley House Nursing Home have been amazing. Our contact began in hospital when they visited my dad to understand his needs. They have been very supportive and nothing was too much trouble. They looked after my dad very well, friendly but always professional. The support and advice when dad passed away was very welcome and we didnt feel at all rushed to remove his personal possessions from his room. Big thanks to everyone involved in his care.

It was such a relief and I don't think I will ever be able to put into words the difference that the Home has made. The staff are unbelievable and not only are they brilliant with my mother but they are also unbelievably supportive and understanding to me. They have such care and compassion for not just the residents but for the families trying to cope with one of the hardest times of their lives and I will never be able to thank them enough.

My great-grandmother enjoyed her stay and spoke very highly of everyone who looked after her. We are incredibly grateful for the support and dedication shown by the entire team during her recovery. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming, and caring environment for their loved one.

I have found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, and looking after my husband in a professional manner. His room is comfortable and clean, and the carers have managed to get him out of bed (with a hoist) after more than 8 weeks.

Mum has settled in well and seems very happy. She enjoys all the afternoon activities and is treated extremely well by all staff and carers.

After searching for a couple of years to find 'respite care' with all the care needs my mum requires, I feel lucky that Amberley House had availability when it was needed. From our first calls and visits, then at every interaction from day one, all the team couldn't have been more helpful and caring. All the staff clearly enjoy their roles, making sure the residents are looked after and enjoy a positive daily routine.

I have found the staff and nurses very friendly and helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble for them when asked for help or advice.

The care that mum receives at Hillcrest is first class. The staff are friendly and caring and always willing to go above and beyond to help. Since mum has been at Hillcrest, her whole demeanour has changed. She is much happier and content than she has been for a considerable time. That speaks volumes!

Both my mother and myself are very happy with the care provided by the home. Carers/nurses have made my mother feel at home, and she has really enjoyed engaging with the staff. Could not be happier.

Sadly, it was end-of-life care for my dad for the last 2 weeks of his life, and he passed away at Hillcrest. Staff here are excellent in our experience - caring, kind, competent and calm. From the moment he arrived at Hillcrest, he was given attention to his health and wellbeing needs. We visited every day of his stay, and the staff were polite, friendly and informative of his health status. We quickly felt at ease that he was receiving the best care from any of the staff members. When he passed away, we were given time and compassion by the staff. The only issue was losing his clothes and blanket in the laundry room despite being labelled.

From chefs personal involvement over options for a meal, to nurses always showing a healing smile. They made an example of high standard.

We cannot thank the staff enough for the care they gave and shown towards our mother while she was in their care. Unfortunately, mum was terminally ill and has recently passed away. The compassion the home showed towards us as a family we cannot thank them enough for that.

After ten days in hospital, mum was discharged to Amberley House for end of life care. Mum was only there for 8 days before she passed away. During what was an horrendous time for our family, it was such a relief to see mum so well cared for. Amberley house was clean, friendly and the staff were wonderful. Each one showed my mum and us care and dignity. It was a great comfort to know that she'd been well looked after for this short and last part of her life. A big thank you to all who work so hard to look after our loved ones.

The food could be better.

My mum moved into Amberley House on 15th May 2025. Since moving here, mum has settled well. I am very impressed with the way the service is run. The care and support Mum has is first class. The home is spotless. There is a menu up on the wall, so I can see what she is having on that day. Staff are very accommodating and welcoming. They have many activities, which mum likes, especially shopping. I couldn't wish for anything more for her, and I am truly happy in the service she has.

Mum was moved from another care home in Liskeard at the request of ASC due to finance. The move has gone extremely well. Mum has settled very well, staff have been excellent with Mum. Lots of activities going on. Mum has been out of her room every day and mixing with other residents, which has helped her settle in well. I have found Mum more expressive and more able to hold a conversation, which was not so good before. We as a family are really pleased with Mum's care.

The palliative/end-of-life care was excellent, with appropriate medication. The freedom of visiting enabled friends and family to spend valuable time with him. His only criticisms were "thin toilet paper" and sometimes being missed by the tea/coffee trolley. There was great care and dignity when he died.
