The staff at Westy Hall are amazing. They work so hard and make sure the residents are safe, happy and comfortable. They always make me feel welcome when visiting and I trust them completely to look after my mum and do what is best for her. It isn't one of the brand new homes that look like 5 star hotels
but it is definitely a very caring home to consider for your loved one.
Highly recommended

I couldn't praise the staff enough. They all do their jobs with respect and real care. Could anyone explain where the fees go? I wash his clothes, shower and shave him. Management doesn't appreciate, value or support the staff, why? The entertainment manager is the kind of manager we all need at Parklands.
Any chance of getting a more empathetic and supportive management?

Westy Hall

from Susan B (Niece of Resident) published on 8 September 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The team are fantastic. The level of care is excellent, and the staff go above and beyond. My relative moved into Westy Hall in April 2025 and I cannot believe how well he has settled and how at home he feels. He is thriving and that is because of the environment that the care team create.
I think
the home would benefit from some investment in the outdoor spaces/garden and front entrance. Also, a more efficient signing in system would help both those visiting residents and the staff. It feels like visitors are taking staff away from their work by asking them to open doors and sometimes they cannot always be there to let people in and out.
These recommendations/suggestions should not detract away from the main point, which is that the care is second to none at Westy and the atmosphere created is that everyone is welcome and loved. In just a few short months, there have been celebrations, days out, llama visits, games nights and pamper days, not to mention lots of birthday cakes. Wonderful care team making tough days much better, Westy Hall is really a special place.
Reply from Katya Lyon, Home manager at Westy Hall

Thank you so much for your review, it means a lot when we get feedback (even if not good as we want to always improve) each residents family become part of the Westy hall expanded family, I take on board your comments around booking in and out of the home, unfortunately visitors have to be reliant on staff as we have to ensure our vulnerable residents are kept safe and not let out accidently by anyone visiting the home. Remember we operate an open door policy at Westy and any comments are greatly appreciated and ideas and concerns received positively and we will endeavour to act on them. Its nice to know your relative has really settled, to be honest it feels like he has been here forever with us :-) .

Level of care and kindness at The Laurels is excellent.
Could not ask anything more of all staff. They are brilliant. Kind, caring and fun as well as professional.
Everything has been considered for the level of support, happiness and wellbeing of my dad.
Managers and staff have welcomed my dad and
visiting family on every occasion. Supportive and helpful in all situations.
Following a recent admission to Hospital, the manager and one staff member in particular and all staff have been caring, supportive and very proactive on ensuring my dad's health and wellbeing were a priority and supported us a family to make a prompt return home possible.
Would not hesitate to recommend The Laurels to others in need of care.

My Dad, stayed in Astbury Lodge .
The staff were friendly, local people who had been there a long time. They were all genuinely caring , open, professional and honest people.
There were no agency staff .
It felt like a real, warm community.
My family visited Dad daily, at all times of the day
and there were never any problems.
The food was always homemade, traditional tasty, nutritious food.
There was lots of entertainment and a lovely easily accessible garden.
The rooms were warm, bright and comfortable.
It's a difficult and stressful when you have put your parents in a care home. Dad living here made us feel like we had made the right decision.

Mum came into Holcroft Grange for respite in mid June and is still there now. This is her first time in respite and it's fair to say that the staff have been caring, supportive, professional and friendly to mum and indeed our extended family during this time. We have found them responsive to queries,
patient and informative. The home is clean, calm and has a variety of facilities to cater for different needs. Mum settled in well and is enjoying the activities and is joining in but there is always a place you can find if you prefer a quieter environment.

Resident for 2 weeks post operative care. Nursing care was exemplary. All staff were kind and considerate and always made any visitors feel very welcome. Management are efficient and this is evident within the home. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Would like to say how grateful we all are as
a family to the Cedars staff team.

Where do I start , from beginning to end to moving my aunt it's was 110% care and so considerate.. A member of staff even went above and beyond to meet us on her day off when assessing her for a move to Westys. We left the meeting feeling so blessed we had finally found a carehome who 'care' and treat
the elderly with the respect they deserve and love and compassion.. my aunt has changed in one week to feeling content which has massively had a knock on effect of all the family and this is down to that member of staff and the team who are so dedicated and hard working and do everything with love , care and nothing is too much trouble. Thankyou from our hearts that you have allowed us to get a little back to normality and can go home after each visit feeling blessed, my aunt has been there a week and it's her birthday today and they have even had a cake baked for her which tells you how considerate they are..
so blessed there was a room for her

Thank you for the review, its lovely to get feedback to know what we are doing is appreciated and that we do it because we care, we operate an open door policy at Westy Hall and if something isn't right then we encourage that feedback to so it can be put right. I really am proud to be part of a team that strive to go above and beyond daily in their roles. I'm also proud to say our staff believe that this isn't just our workplace its peoples home who deserve to be treated with the upmost respect and care. We hope the cake and celebrations Aunty had is the first of many to come with us.Best wishes Home Manager
