Mum has been at Grenville over a year and I am eternally grateful for all they do and have done for her. Her move there saw a lot of problems for mum but with the help and support of some amazing staff (Penny) amongst others) she has settled better than I thought she would. She is safe and well cared
for and, any questions I've needed to know have been answered. No one and nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement but, that stands for all of us in life. All of the staff play a vital role in caring for the residents and if it wasn't for all of them (in doing a job that we unfortunately can't do ourselves) it would slowly fall apart. I applaud you all for the job you do and thank you from the bottom of my heart

Heartfelt thanks regarding the care of our mum, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible care our mum has received since joining you for initially respite care. what began as a short-term stay has transitioned into mum becoming a permanent resident, and we couldn't be happier with
this decision. This was our first experience with a care home, and we were naturally anxious. However, the transition has been amazing, I cannot praise your facility and staff enough. Every member of the team is absolutely wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble, and I am always touched by the fact that the staff members know me by name when I visit. Most importantly, our mums quality of life has improved significantly since she arrived. I truly don't know where she would be without this caring Care home and level of care she receives Granville Court provides many activities during the week and Mum often engages in these. Thank you all, we have our mum back.

Grenville Court looked after my Mum from March 2025 until January 2026. The whole team gave my Mum incredible support and kept me well informed of her health and wellbeing. Mum was very comfortable and settled within the care home and they helped us all along through her end of life journey with care,
respect and dignity. Thank you so much to the Grenville Court family.

The team at Grenville have always been brilliant with my Dad, but particularly recently.
He's had a run of health issues and has received nothing but support and patience from the team.
We are so glad that he's in Grenville in the hands of their great team. Couldn't recommend them enough!
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you for your kind words - we appreciate it so much. Caring for your dad is such a true privilege and we are so pleased that you can see that in the way we care.

My following comments can only relate to care received on the first floor at Grenville Court as I had no experience of care on the ground floor.
Unfortunately my 90 year-old cousin's experience at Grenville Court from October 2025 was not a good one and after three months, at my request, her social
worker facilitated arrangements for her to move to an alternative county council funded place in a nearby care home where she is now settled and happy.
During her short stay I raised issues concerning unpleasant odour, health & safety, hygiene, dignity, medication protocol and nutrition and took the necessary steps for my relative to move in January when I sadly lost faith in the management's accountability.
The first floor corridors are very shabby and would greatly benefit from a refresh.
On a positive note, I can say that three female members of the caring staff stood out from the rest and provided an excellent standard of care, for which I have thanked them.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you for sharing your feedback regarding your cousin's stay at Grenville Court.

The concerns raised in October were carefully reviewed and concluded by management in November, in collaboration with Adult Social Care. Measures were put in place to address health, safety, and nutritional needs, and no safeguarding or care-quality issues were identified.

When it became clear that you felt Grenville Court was not the right long-term fit for your cousin, we supported her transition to an alternative placement in January and provided her new home with full care plans, including a record of actions taken to promote person-centred care. As her stay there has just begun, we are unable to comment on her experience at the new home.

We are pleased to note your acknowledgement of members of our care team who provided a high standard of care, as compassionate, person-centred support remains central to our service.

I cannot speak highly enough of the outstanding care provided at Grenville Court , From the moment i walked through the doors, there's a sense of warmth, compassion, and genuine dedication. The staff go above and beyond every single day to ensure residents not only feel safe, but also valued, respected,
and truly at home.
What sets this home apart from the other Care homes in the area is the personal attention and patience shown to every individual. My Mother and Father are always treated with dignity, kindness, and understanding, and it's clear the team really know each resident's personality, preferences, and needs. The atmosphere is always calm, friendly, and uplifting, and the activities are thoughtfully designed to keep residents engaged, stimulated, and happy.
The home itself is welcoming, clean, and beautifully maintained, with a real sense of community. Communication with families is excellent-we are always kept informed and reassured, which gives us so much peace . Thank you

Our mum has only recently moved into the home, but already we've seen how caring, attentive, and helpful the staff are with all the residents. Everyone has made her feel so welcome.
She's genuinely happy there-she loves taking part in the activities, and as a family, we really enjoy getting involved
too. She's made some lovely friends and we've noticed she's eating better as well.
We honestly can't praise the staff enough-they do a fantastic job and clearly care deeply about the residents.

Grenville Court provides fantastic care in a loving and supportive environment for my father in law. We chose it because they also provided outstanding care for my mother in law 2 years ago. The manager and the team have the very best interests of all the care users, the range of activities is fabulous,
the recent 'virtual' trips abroad is creative and inspiring. The restaurant is great. Most of all the staff make this home exceptional ..you couldn't ask for more caring, nurturing and supportive staff.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtSarah, these words are so beautiful. We absolutely adore both your father in law and still think about your mother in law always. Thank you, I will share this with the team as they will be chuffed to read this!

We found that all the staff at Grenville Court Care Home were supportive, caring and loving towards my mother in her time of need.
We could not have wished for a better care team that also befriended the family and kept us informed and supported.
The events coordinators always provided a wide variety
of activities including animal visits, which my mother really enjoyed. It also included exercise afternoons which was great for mobility. She was always treated with dignity and respect.

Overall good, but never give it five stars as there is always room for improvement in some areas. Staff are excellent and do a great job for the pay that any care worker receives.
Have seen residents have treatment (changing dressings) in the dining room in front of visitors and other residents and
even though most of these people have dementia and do not understand, I do not think this is very dignified for them or anyone else, also not hygienic when you see the community nurse sitting on the floor carrying out this treatment.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you for your kind words, I have passed this over to the team. I always appreciate input on where the service can be improved and I have also passed feedback onto our community team that visits. This practice is not encouraged and has been addressed.

I was very worried about having to put my husband into a home especially as you hear all funny things but not here, all the staff are marvellous. His care is a no 1 priority, he's lovely and clean and tidy, his needs are looked after and the home is spotless. Just walked into his room and there were
notices on his door telling me who his key worker was and an emergency plan for fire. I am happy and confident that if I don't come in every day he is being looked after. I can't ask for more. Congratulations on getting it right.

Clean, caring and compassionate. It's always a hugely emotional and difficult decision to decide who to place your trust in when looking for care for a loved one but all of the staff here have reassured our family at every turn. From the professional and communicative administration team to the loving
and hard-working care providers, I know they are all hugely passionate about providing the best levels of comfort, entertainment and safety for the residents.
My dad needs specialist care for his Alzheimer's, and the team are hugely experienced in delivering this and do so with amazing levels of respect and kindness. I live away from the area so often rely on the team's communication and updates which they always deliver promptly over the phone and on email. When I visit I'm always greeted with a friendly face and can see the genuine connection that Dad has with the staff.
It's never an easy situation but I genuinely think this home makes it as good as it can be. Thank you.

My partner has been at Grenville Court for over a year and has advanced dementia. We are so lucky to have found somewhere that offers such high standards of care for him. The staff are fantastic and he feels safe and cared for which is, for us, the most important thing.
When I first came to Grenville
on a cold call, I was treated with courtesy and respect by all those with whom I came in contact and, as I was waiting to be taken around, I watched a member of staff talking to one of the residents who was upset. She knelt down beside her and gave her a hug and I knew that this was the place we wanted for my partner. The standards which all adhere to are, I am sure, what each of them wishes to bring to their profession and you know that those are promoted and endorsed by the very strong and talented management team. We can never speak highly enough of those who look after him, their kindness and respect never falter and they extend that to us too. Thanks for going that extra mile for him.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtRachael, your kind words are such a wonderful thing to read. I have shared this with the care team, in which it has visibly made their smiles even brighter today. We are all very fond of your partner here at Grenville Court. Thank you.

My mother was a resident in this heart-warming beautiful home. My mother died this year and she moved back to this home not that long ago. My mother was here before she moved to another care home because of her needs in dementia care but recently returned back to her home which she had her last year
in. I am grateful to this home they are not staff but they were my mother's family and our family. The support and love and care is beyond their job they give. Amazing home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.743)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.743) out of 10 for Grenville Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for Grenville Court is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grenville Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
