Overall good, but never give it five stars as there is always room for improvement in some areas. Staff are excellent and do a great job for the pay that any care worker receives.
Have seen residents have treatment (changing dressings) in the dining room in front of visitors and other residents and
even though most of these people have dementia and do not understand, I do not think this is very dignified for them or anyone else, also not hygienic when you see the community nurse sitting on the floor carrying out this treatment.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you for your kind words, I have passed this over to the team. I always appreciate input on where the service can be improved and I have also passed feedback onto our community team that visits. This practice is not encouraged and has been addressed.

I was very worried about having to put my husband into a home especially as you hear all funny things but not here, all the staff are marvellous. His care is a no 1 priority, he's lovely and clean and tidy, his needs are looked after and the home is spotless. Just walked into his room and there were
notices on his door telling me who his key worker was and an emergency plan for fire. I am happy and confident that if I don't come in every day he is being looked after. I can't ask for more. Congratulations on getting it right.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtDear Val, thank you so much for your kind words. I will show all the staff and it will give them a fantastic boost for all their efforts and hard work. Take care, I am always here if you need anything.

Impressed with the genuine care and attention Mum receives. Always clean. Looked at lots of homes before choosing this one. Nowhere can ever be perfect but I feel the staff here do genuinely care about the residents, Mum at least. That obviously translates into the care she receives.

Clean, caring and compassionate. It's always a hugely emotional and difficult decision to decide who to place your trust in when looking for care for a loved one but all of the staff here have reassured our family at every turn. From the professional and communicative administration team to the loving
and hard-working care providers, I know they are all hugely passionate about providing the best levels of comfort, entertainment and safety for the residents.
My dad needs specialist care for his Alzheimer's, and the team are hugely experienced in delivering this and do so with amazing levels of respect and kindness. I live away from the area so often rely on the team's communication and updates which they always deliver promptly over the phone and on email. When I visit I'm always greeted with a friendly face and can see the genuine connection that Dad has with the staff.
It's never an easy situation but I genuinely think this home makes it as good as it can be. Thank you.

My partner has been at Grenville Court for over a year and has advanced dementia. We are so lucky to have found somewhere that offers such high standards of care for him. The staff are fantastic and he feels safe and cared for which is, for us, the most important thing.
When I first came to Grenville
on a cold call, I was treated with courtesy and respect by all those with whom I came in contact and, as I was waiting to be taken around, I watched a member of staff talking to one of the residents who was upset. She knelt down beside her and gave her a hug and I knew that this was the place we wanted for my partner. The standards which all adhere to are, I am sure, what each of them wishes to bring to their profession and you know that those are promoted and endorsed by the very strong and talented management team. We can never speak highly enough of those who look after him, their kindness and respect never falter and they extend that to us too. Thanks for going that extra mile for him.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtRachael, your kind words are such a wonderful thing to read. I have shared this with the care team, in which it has visibly made their smiles even brighter today. We are all very fond of your partner here at Grenville Court. Thank you.

My mother was a resident in this heart-warming beautiful home. My mother died this year and she moved back to this home not that long ago. My mother was here before she moved to another care home because of her needs in dementia care but recently returned back to her home which she had her last year
in. I am grateful to this home they are not staff but they were my mother's family and our family. The support and love and care is beyond their job they give. Amazing home.

My ex-husband is a resident at Grenville Court. I have not seen him this happy in years. He partakes in most activities, which I am able to follow on social media. He is constantly smiling and enjoying life to its fullest. The staff are amazing and nothing appears to be too much trouble for them. They
have brought out the very best in him, for which I will always be grateful. What could potentially have been a traumatic time for my daughter, has been eased by the love and care of the staff at Grenville Court. Thank you.

When visiting Grenville Court for the first time, I was welcomed by the manager and another staff member, which was very professional. I was shown around the whole areas and had a tour by a staff member of even the garden areas too. All the staff were very polite and helpful with any questions I asked
too! The thing that stood out was the friendliness, cleanliness and caring aspect of everyone. All the rooms have their own en suites and alarms too. So very safe. When I noticed that everybody had their own front door and number, I knew my mum would like that! So it would feel like her own space if she wanted privacy, but could have the door open for guests if she wanted friends in! Mum loves the food that is all prepared for her, either to dine in the main, big room or to eat in her room if she wants too! Mum has definitely flourished here as she is taking part in loads of activities that she otherwise wouldn’t have done in her own home. Mum's key worker is brilliant with all the activities.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you so much for these kind words, we are so fond of your mum! Your support is very much appreciated and means a lot to me and of course the lovely team at Grenville.

I’m writing to say that the care my Nan received from everyone at Greenville Court Care Home was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, the care, kindness, respect and dignity they showed and gave my Nan was outstanding. They were also extremely supportive and caring to us as a family throughout
nans life with them. The respect and dignity they gave us and Nan as she passed away went above and beyond. We’ve decided that we are not buying gifts this Christmas, instead, we are making a large donation to Greenville Court for them to use for activities with the residents.
Reply from Abby Thornhill, Home Manager at Grenville CourtThank you very much for your kind words. We all loved the time we had with your nan. You are all wonderful people. The donation is very much appreciated and will provide more activities for our residents.
Thank you.

Everyone at Grenville Court has been caring and respectful from the start. All the staff welcomed my dad when he came, listened to his needs and communicated with him well. They help him do the things he likes and respond to him excellently despite his challenging behaviour. Dad is treated as an individual
and I believe the Grenville staff have helped him keep his dignity in the face of many physical health and mental health issues. Grenville is always clean and, whilst peaceful, there is a friendly buzz. I'm allowed to bring in my puppy to cheer Dad up and take him out on small trips. The food seems hot, fresh and suits my dad's tastes. It's such a relief to not have to worry about him and the places he could be. I'd recommend Grenville for its level of care and the communication skills of its people. I've always felt he's in safe hands.

My dad moved into Grenville Court in May 2022. I was worried about the thought of Dad being in care. But from that first phone call I made to the home to my first visit to look around, I felt a sense of relief.
At first, Dad was confused about why he was there and wanted to go home but the staff knew
how to deal with this situation with as little stress for Dad as possible.
Dad didn't go out of his room too much at first but through the patience and encouragement of the staff, he is having his meals out of his room and joining in many of the activities.
Dad is treated with the utmost respect, care and dignity and there are so many activities for the residents to join, there is something going on every day.
Staff are amazing every one of them, even on those tough days, as I'm sure there are plenty, nothing is much trouble for them.
They always have time to ask how I'm doing, which is lovely.
Thanks to all staff my dad is now safe and well looked after, giving me peace of mind.

My mother is settled and content to be in Grenville Care Home. All the staff are genuinely kind to my mother. I am pleased that her fluid intake is being monitored. My only concern is I wish there was a more suitable hoist for my mothers needs as my mother is uncomfortable and nervous in the one being
used.

The team provided numerous social events for residents to enjoy, including outdoor parties with live music. Mum enjoyed spending time in the spacious dining room looking out onto the garden. The team were always on hand to support Mum when she was poorly and to answer any queries I had. A friendly,

My mother has gone from a quiet, polite and sweet-natured lady to someone I now don't recognise. Her Alzheimer's issues have gradually, and now totally, changed her personality. I cannot express my sincere thanks enough to all staff at Grenville Court for the understanding and compassionate care not
only to my mother but to myself as well. They always have just that little extra time to ask how I am! Their standard of care is remarkable and I have nothing but praise for them all. They are dealing with a person who is no longer able to make any sense of the world, yet Grenville staff still treat her with dignity and respect. I have no idea how they can do it, I certainly couldn't. Grenville's management also keeps me in the loop of all things concerning my mother, both good and bad. I cannot speak highly enough of Grenville's services. Well done to all. I don't know what I would do without you.

In my opinion, Grenville Court proved to be an excellent choice for my mother. I viewed it prior to her admission and immediately felt a sense of kindness and compassion towards the residents, all of whom appeared to have complex needs. The home is secure, clean and well maintained and there are regular
activities provided which residents are encouraged to get involved in. My mother said the food was plentiful and of an excellent standard. I was made aware if Mum needed anything and if any medical issues arose that needed attention the Doctor or District Nurse was contacted and I was kept informed. In fact, my mum made such good progress in every respect that she was later discharged back into the community. Thank you to everyone at Grenville Court!

My father entered the home and was made very welcome from the start. He was treated with dignity, compassion and even though he had Alzheimer's was always given explanations of what was happening when the staff were helping with his personal care. I received updates from the staff both over the telephone
and when I visited him, and I found everybody open and honest. My father sadly passed away and we were very grateful when we went to see him he looked so peaceful. Words cannot say how much we miss him but the care he received could not have been better.

I have nothing but praise, admiration and thanks for the way in which my father was looked after.
All the carers and management I found to be first rate with nothing being too much trouble. During his stay we were kept fully informed with compassion and thoughtfulness. His care was always personalised,
to illustrate this fact during his final day the chef made pineapple sorbet (as they got to know Dad loved ice cream), I could see in his eyes how much he enjoyed it. When the time came to say our goodbyes all the carers and management took the time to pass on their condolences with dignity and feeling – even in the short time he was with them they got to know him so well. I rarely write reviews however feel compelled to post this one. I do not think we could have asked for any more from the new team and based on my experience would not have wanted Dad to pass away in any other place – he was amongst people that cared.
Reply from Benjamin M Rogers, Registered Manager at Grenville CourtIt was a privilege and an honour to have this gentleman with us at Grenville Court. Thank you so much for your kind words and praise of the team at Grenville. As the manager, I can not be more proud.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.763)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.763) out of 10 for Grenville Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.763 for Grenville Court is calculated as follows: ( (266 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 321 Ratings = 4.763
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grenville Court is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
