My dad became a resident at Thorley in May 2025 until Oct 2025. He had Alzheimer's.
The staff could not have been kinder to my dad or indeed to us. They showed great care and really tried to individualise that care for my dad. They got to know his likes and dislikes and tailored activities accordingly.
They
were also quick to know when medical advice was needed.
We will always be grateful to the team at Thorley, led by Mel and Toni, who really helped our family at a very difficult time and treated our dad with great respect, love and professionalism

Mike was treated wonderfully by all the staff.
His mobility and mood improved markedly during his stay. His ability to undertake activities improved.
The staff all engaged him and interacted regularly.
I cannot praise them enough

My review is not just for April it is for the last 2 years my mum has been living at Thorley House.
She will be 90 in June and has vascular dementia and altzeimers. Mum came back to life in so many ways when she became a resident. There are not enough adjectives to describe this wonderful place and
its outstanding management and staff. All the staff fuss mum so much and adore her. There are activities at least 5 days a week which are so unique and centred around stimulation and fun. The grounds are beautiful. The communication from the team about mums welfare is fantastic. I was called to let me know mum had a cough and the doctor had been called but it was nothing to worry about. It is so valuable being kept informed by the team it just shows mum is important to them and so am I.
The staff are all so smiley and jolly and nothing is too much trouble. Its the team that make it a home and not just somewhere to live. Thank you all. Cathy

To everyone at Thorley House,

Thank you feels far too small for the kindness, patience, dignity and care that all the team at Thorley House have shown Mum over the past three years.

As Mum's Alzheimer's progressed, knowing she was surrounded by such compassionate and dedicated people brought enormous

comfort to our family. You treated her not simply as a resident, but as a person - with warmth, humour, respect and genuine affection - and we will always be grateful for that.

Although Mum has now moved to a nursing home, Thorley House will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for every cup of coffee, every reassuring word, every smile, every moment of patience, and for the care and support you gave Mum each and every day.

Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at Thorley HouseThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. Supporting residents and their families with compassion, dignity, warmth, and respect is at the heart of everything we do, and your message means more to our team.

My mum has been at Thorley house since September 2024, and although at times she can present as a little changeable due to her illness, the staff treat her with dignity and respect at all times, with an excellent awareness of her individual needs.
They are always proactive with any healthcare issues
and I trust them implicitly.

My Mum has recently celebrated her 100th birthday in Thorley House and the staff went above and beyond to make this a wonderful day for her. Mum has been in Thorley House for almost six years and I feel so confident that she is getting the best care possible. The home and rooms are always spotlessly
clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I can't ask for more for my amazing Mum.x

I visited my friend without an appointment, along with another friend. The staff were very pleasant with us. Although she was in the lounge with other residents we took her back to her bedroom for a personal conversation. The bedroom was very clean and tidy our friend was brought mid morning coffee
and biscuits. We were offered a drink when we were leaving an activities member of staff came to speak with our friend. Lovely experience.

My great auntie used to live 200 miles away and spent most of her days in bed in her own flat, we could only visit a few times a year due to distance so she had no one really only carers who went in for half hour 3 times a day, she had a fall a few months ago and we was told she hadn't long left and
needed round the clock care especially with being late 90s, we decided to move her to Thorley House which is local for family and wow what a difference, she is living again and is very happy, I can't recommend this care home enough and all the staff are doing a great job they have activities in the day and trips out and my great auntie is more mobile and happier than ever which is a massive relief to the small family she has, we are kept updated with photos and videos on social media which is great to see so thank you very much Thorley House and keep doing what you're doing

My mum has just returned home from enjoying a respite visit. It was wonderful in every way. The home is immaculate and every member of staff so friendly and caring. Noting was too much trouble. She ate well and enjoyed making friends. She even went out on a boat trip. Everyone made my mum feel so welcome.
Her room was beautifully prepared, and she just relaxed from the very start. Before booking respite, we had visited around a dozen local homes, and this was her standout favourite. It lived up to all our expectations and she is looking forward to staying again.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.885)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.885) out of 10 for Thorley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.885 for Thorley House is calculated as follows: ( (243 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 270 Ratings = 4.885
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thorley House is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
