The Rivers is a newly-refurbished, purpose-built care home located in The Croft, Knottingley, close to the River Aire and local amenities. With 50 spacious en-suite bedrooms, this home offers comfortable residential, dementia, respite and palliative care, with the flexibility to support changing care needs.

The kindness & compassion shown to Mum & us as her family is evident & is much appreciated, the team are excellent from this perspective.
It is very difficult to leave Mum at the home after we have taken her out, it is distressing for her & us. The team members totally understand this & distract
Mum with offers of tea, a biscuit & a chat as appropriate.
Attention to detail could be improved, as I am sure it can in many residential homes. Personal examples are: no toilet roll in the residents private toilet, missing top sheet at 8.45pm at night with only a fluffy blanket to cover Mum up & jugs of juice being given to Mum despite her notes stating water only.
I hope that these small, yet important occurrences will not happen again now that the new Manager is onboard. All new, current & agency staff need to regularly read the residents notes, it is imperative.
Good & prompt communication with two members of staff on email.
Good link to local medical support.

Staff always on the move but always find time to answer questions when needed. Never have I been in The Rivers without seeing cleaning taking place. The staff treat all the residents with care and as individuals. The food always looks and smells great and have a great choice. I am always informed if
there is a problem with my aunty and I'm happy to know she is getting well looked after.

After a hip replacement in June 2023, my mum started with vascular dementia. It was full on (and not slow). In October 2024 we decided to have full time care and placed her in The Rivers, The Croft, Knottingley. My mum passed away on 06.02.2025. All the seniors and carers were absolutely amazing. The
care and attention and love, may I add, that they showed my mum was phenomenal. This pace really is home from home. We got close to the people who looked after Mum. Truly like family at the end of Mum's journey. Thank you all so very much.

I have found nothing but respect, professionalism, friendliness, humour and support from all the staff (without exception) to my sister and myself as a visitor. It's lovely to see her happy and well and engaging with so many, although she does like chatting to the staff. The activities, especially pet
therapy, are great. It's also nice to have a chat with the resident dogs who we are slowly making friends with. Facilities are kept wonderfully clean and nothing appears to be too much trouble whilst carrying out an exceptionally demanding job.

Collected my dad Christmas Day, notice provided he was going out Christmas Day. One shoe on wrong foot other shoe missing. Pooh in his sock and T-shirt.
Nappy full wee. Not shaved or teeth brushed. Pooh crusted on his fingernails.
This is not the first time he has been found in this mess.

Hi, we value all feedback good and negative in order to improve our service. The safety and care for our residents are paramount and I am so very sorry that this has happened. I have completed a full investigation into your concerns and upon reviewing the care notes for Dad he was supported with a shower that morning along with oral care. It is stated in his care plan the amount of support he needs with personal and continence cares due to high levels of incontinence on a regular basis. I am sorry that at the time you came to collect Dad, he had become incontinent. I have taken swift action with the staff team. I have also referred this to CQC and local Safeguarding. It would be beneficial if concerns are also reported to me in the first instance so I am able to support you with any concerns. I have not been made aware of any concerns previous to this. Please refer to our complaints procedure visible in the home. I have an open door policy and I am always happy to assist. Kind regards

The room was personalised by us as a family before Dad moved in and we were supported to bring in furniture and pictures which would replicate the home he was having to leave.
We were welcomed and involved in his care plans and the move from home to care home went so much better than expected.
Everyone
was welcoming, friendly and did all they could to make Dad feel safe and welcome. The move was a pleasure and relief to us all as a family, staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Mum recently spent two weeks in respite care at The Rivers following a hospital stay. The staff were excellent, all extremely friendly and patient with Mum. During her stay her appetite improved and we saw her gain confidence when using a walker to help her get around.

My dad recently spent 5 weeks at The Rivers and I cannot fault this place at all. Each time I visited I always found it to be spotlessly clean. The staff are all lovely and have always been so kind to my Dad. Would highly recommend this care home

Elderly mother in full-time care. The home was better than expected. She received excellent care, and at all times was treated with respect and courtesy. I was very impressed by the way my father was welcomed into The Rivers recently. All the staff on duty came and welcomed him by name.
My early impressions of the home are that it is very clean, and the staff are very friendly. Any request for help has been met quickly and willingly, and my father
is being helped to meet and mix with other residents.

A friend of mine lives at The Rivers, I can honestly say the staff are amazing, the home is clean and everyone seems well looked after. The environment seems really homely and everyone is always so happy when I visit, I always get a warm welcome when I arrive, the only shame is I have been looking for
a placement for my mother-in-law and there is a waiting list hopefully this isn’t too long!

My beautiful mam went into The Rivers in October last year, honestly it was the last thing we wanted, but wow, they have been amazing. The staff go above and beyond with not just her care, but also in making her happy. We honestly feel so much calmer knowing she is so looked after and cared for.
