I have found Yew Tree nursing home just right for my Mother who has mobility problems and needs nursing care. Although she stays in her room with en-suite most of the time she is very happy there, has TV, radio and her own furniture. She enjoys her food and banter with the nurses and helpers. We can
visit anytime. The home takes her on hospital visits, restaurants and trips. She is coming up to 96. On hot days she may go out into the gardens to see the donkey and lovely flowers. We've found all the staff very helpful, especially when Mom first moved in w12 months ago. They have a lovely restroom and care on site where we can go with Mom if a lot of us call at the same time. Also birthday parties.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.548) out of 10 for Yew Tree Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.772 for Yew Tree Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.772
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.776 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Yew Tree Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.976
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

As Home Manager at Yew Tree Nursing Home, I have gained valuable experience leading and managing a busy nursing home environment. I am passionate about delivering high standards of care and ensuring the well-being, safety, and dignity of all residents. My role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home, managing staff, maintaining compliance with CQC regulations, and ensuring that residents receive person-centred care tailored to their individual needs.

Having worked in both nursing homes and hospital settings since 2014, I have developed a strong understanding of clinical care, risk management, and operational challenges. I am committed to continuous improvement and fostering a supportive, safe, and welcoming environment.

I take pride in building strong relationships with residents, their families, and the wider community, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone involved. I have a strong focus on quality assurance, regularly auditing systems and practices within the home to maintain high standards and drive continuous improvement. Budget management, care planning, safeguarding, and health & safety are all key aspects of my role.

Beyond my professional life, I’m a proud family man. I’m married and blessed with a beautiful daughter, who I absolutely love to bits. Family means everything to me, and I enjoy spending quality time with them and close friends whenever I can. I love travelling, exploring new places, and when the weekend comes around — you’ll most likely find me by the BBQ, enjoying good food and great company (because, honestly, who doesn’t love a BBQ?).

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2023

Hello, I’m the Deputy Manager of Yew Tree and a registered Nurse. My role within the home is to ensure that the residents of Yew Tree receive a high standard of care from the staff employed by the home. I’m Level 3 trained for medications and train the trainer for Manual handling. It is my reasonability to ensure that staff are competent to conduct their role. I have a clear passion for End-of-Life care and I am the champion within the home ensuring that the needs of the residents and the family are respected during this difficult time.
I have worked within the care sector for over a decade now, with my previous experience of working as a nurse in various nursing homes.
I have been engaged for over 9 years to my partner and we have two beautiful children together, my youngest is four and my eldest child is seven so they both keep me young and on my toes. Outside of work, I love to travel visiting new places, but I especially love to visit back home in Romania where the children can see their grandparents and extended family. During the weekends I enjoy day trips and spending quality time with my family sightseeing around the UK.

Job Title: Business Manager Joined: 2010

Hello, I’m Vicky and I have been the Business Manager at Yew Tree since 2010. My role within the home is to oversee the finances, administration and HR functions within the business. Previously I worked as a Company Secretary for a company in the construction industry for ten years so I have many years of experience within Management. Prior to working at Yew Tree I had no Healthcare experience however I found a role that is very rewarding and I have found a passion for providing excellent care for the residents. I have also completed my Level 5 in Care Home Management. I assist the Home Manager and Deputy in striving for a home from home experience for the residents within our home.
In my personal life I am married and have a grown son who both also work in care so you could say it’s a family passion. I’m very much an animal lover and at home I have three cats and two dogs, 1 Doberman and one Yorkshire Terrier cross so the house is never quiet. My escape is my caravan in North Wales by the coast where I go to unwind and just take in the sea air as relaxation time is important for everyone.
