Cheswardine Hall Nursing & Residential Home

I visited Chewardine during the week of 10thAug 2026 where my brother in law is a resident. I was very impressed with the friendliness & cheerful manner of every member of staff I encountered. The room he is in is of a good size & feels airy & bright. The carpet was well maintained & clean. I have visited other care homes & unfortunately one of the first things to greet me have been bad smells which is very off putting - this was not the case in Cheswardine I'm delighted to say! No bad odours throughout the areas I visited. It is a very impressive building set in green grassed grounds with geese & squirrels as you drive up to the building. Once you arrive at the main building there is a lovely pond with Koi Carp & a small fountain - great feature. He appears to be very settled & comfortable with his surroundings which is a great relief for my sister. Each member of staff that came in to see/check on him would always speak to him so he knew they were there - very friendly once again.

My husband has been going to Cheswardine for respite for 3 years and he became a full time resident 16 months ago. I could not ask for a better place for my husband to be cared for. He is now very settled and I recently asked him how he felt about being at Cheswardine and he said "What's not to like, my room is bright and airy and everyone is very kind to me". It has been a very difficult time for us both being separated from one another and his comments gave me so much peace of mind. Every single member of staff - the groundsmen, maintenance team, housekeeping team, catering team, carers team, nursing team and the management team are so kind to us both. Whenever I visit I am always greeted with a cheery welcome and hello! The staff interactions with both my husband and me are kind, caring and compassionate. They have also helped me enormously and have supported me through this difficult time. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and support.

What can I say!, a stay in Cheswardine Hall is like being at home. The staff are all very friendly and the level of care they provide is second to none. There are numerous varied activities arranged throughout the week to stimulate and entertain such as arts and crafts, visiting speakers and musicians. Visitors to other residents engage with other residents when they visit. The food is excellent with some choice at Lunch and Dinner. Hot food is served hot. Management of Cheswardine is certainly conducted in a business like fashion but all members of the management team are friendly with residents, their families and the staff which helps make Cheswardine Hall the wonderful experience it is.

I have been in Cheswardine Hall for 4 years now and I am very settled, happy and contented. The care is exceptional, the staff are very caring, friendly and always willing to listen to me needs. I enjoy my food and there is always a good choice. I would not consider moving to another Home as I am very contented at Cheswardine Hall.

I stay every few weeks or so for respite care as my husband is a resident at Cheswardine Hall. It is always a pleasure to stay there with my husband. The staff are so friendly and caring and the care is excellent. I always feel at home and comfortable with everyone it feels like family when I stay...the Management are always ready to listen to any problems and discuss with you anything that might be concerning you. The food is good with a choice of meals. I have no hesitation in recommending Cheswardine Hall as Respite package.

Both my mum and dad have been in Cheswardine Hall for eleven months now. They receive excellent care from all the staff and managers who are very approachable and friendly. They are able to share a room too which is a real bonus. They provide a very good activity programme and regularly have entertainers in. The grounds of Cheswardine Hall are like a nature reserve, absolutely beautiful, with spectacular views over open countryside. The best care and nursing home in the area.

I chose Cheswardine Hall for a period of rehabilitation and received the warmest welcome and was made to feel instantly at home. My room became my haven with days passing quickly with no pressure to do anything I didn't want to do. Staff carried out their tasks with good humour, grace, and kindness; traits that remained consistent throughout my stay. The Hall has access to an excellent private physiotherapist whose skills I cannot speak too highly of. The peace of my surroundings was incredibly restorative; I saw spectacular sunrises, daily wildlife sightings and I'll not forget the hoot of the night owl. The location, the views and memories of my Mum previously staying at the Hall were powerful contributors to the success of my recovery and I could not have been better placed. My fellow residents were welcoming, friendly and genuinely interested in my recovery. I made immense progress at the Hall and whilst delighted to be home I shall not forget the quality service I received - TVM

Nothing seems too much trouble, I drop in regularly and the atmosphere is always happy and calm. There are always qualified nurses on duty 7 days per week and all throughout the night too and a high ratio of carers to residents. Cheswardine Hall is a beautiful place, with beautiful well kept grounds. There is so much space and visiting even with very young children is a pleasure. Overall we have been very, very pleased to date.

On the day my Mum moved in the staff who greeted us, they where clearly up to speed on the details I had provided them about what's important to and for my Mum, before she knew it she was enjoying lunch and meeting her new fellow residents. It has only been a week but each time I visit I consistently see excellent standards being maintained not just on show for the visit. Massive thank you to all the team for doing a great job.

The basics, this is a lovely old manor house in the depths of Shropshire countryside. The place is clean and tidy and the residents all seem to be very happy ... no buzzers or bells going off. It is the best place for Mum!.

I am eternally grateful to the care team for the care post discharge from hospital to Cheswardine Hall, I could see how dedicated the care staff are. Nothing was a problem. The food looked really tasty and accommodated my nan's diet. Thoughtful & caring to the end. Kept all family updated, dynamic & proactive. Expert in palliative care. Thank you.

My mum needed care after a fall at home and a week in hospital, to get her back on her feet. Cheswardine has done just that and after 5 weeks she is back in her own home. The staff were wonderful, always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food is an excellent standard. Visitors were welcomed and made to feel at home, which sums up the feel of Cheswardine, a home from home, just what you need when finding somewhere for your loved ones to stay. I would highly recommend them.

I recommended to a very dear friend that a short respite stay at the Hall would help him recover from a very difficult round of chemotherapy. The outcome was extremely positive in that the break helped him become physically stronger. It also gave him time to come to terms with his prognosis.

My mum was admitted for palliative care, and we could not have asked for a more peaceful and tranquil place for her to spend her last few days. She was treated with care, kindness and respect by the amazing staff, who looked after her so wonderfully. My mother was treated with dignity, and I and the rest of my family were given tremendous support, as well as many bolstering cups of tea which were much appreciated.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care my mother received. My mum was in Cheswardine Hall as a palliative care resident. She had a beautiful big airy room, with armchairs, a TV, a big table and chairs, which was very good for when Mum had visitors. The staff became like family always greeting, smiling, and hugs for us all. We also stayed overnight with Mum and again the staff couldn't do enough for us. It is an amazing place, thank you to all of them for the loving care they have for us all.

My sister was seriously ill with heart failure and required a great deal of care. They provided both physical care and a great deal of emotional support.

I can not speak highly enough of our experience at Cheswardine Hall.

A lovely happy homely place. All the staff are friendly and helpful and always had time for a chat about Mum. We always visited Mum without prior warning but always found Mum to be clean and comfortable. Mum had dementia so difficult to have a conversation but we always felt she was very well cared for. Despite having many demands on their time the staff was always professional and helpful. Two weeks before she died Mum caught a chest infection - even though she was confined to bed she was lovingly cared for and died peacefully in a warm bed.

Most of the residents were aged, infirm and possibly had dementia but I was always able to find a spot in the communal area away from the other residents.

Another friend of mine has a parent in another care home and is dissatisfied, I have strongly recommended Cheswardine. Fabulous.
