I cannot thank everyone at Elmhurst for all they have done for my lovely husband and for the wonderful care, love and kindness of each and every member of the staff. We, as a family, are so glad we made the decision to move my husband to your lovely home two years ago. Even through the pandemic, you tried so hard to allow us to see him. He was truly loved there. Thank you.

I have been coming to see my brother since he came into the home. Every visit I made to see him from the main reception to where he was I was welcomed with kind words and a smile. The rooms were clean and well-furnished. My brother is being looked after extremely well which the family do appreciate. For any person who needs to go in a home, I would definitely recommend Elmhurst Care Home who have first-class staff working there.

My previous experience with any care home was nil, until 2019 when I suddenly realised that I needed one to care for my wife. After visiting others within my area, it became apparent as to which was the most suitable. When we were accepted at Elmhurst Care Home it turned out to be the best possible answer to our prayers. The 200 words permitted fall far short of those necessary for me to show my gratitude.

My father-in-law became a resident of Elmhurst in August 2022 after a long period of time in hospital due to his dementia. Since his move to Elmhurst and under the care of the Elmhurst team his physical health has improved dramatically. He is far more able. He is happy. He is eating and gaining weight again. We are confident he is being looked after exceptionally well. From the moment you are greeted at the reception all the way to speaking with the nursing staff you can feel the care and nurturing nature of the whole team. Everything is geared up to giving their residents the best standard of welfare possible, in a warm, friendly atmosphere. All the team can describe how my father-in-law is doing, what he's been up as well as what his likes and dislikes are. Placing anyone into a nursing home is a daunting task but the management team there are always willing to spend time talking to and supporting you so you can be confident of the care your relative is receiving.

Mum has recently passed away, and my memories of Elmhurst, the management and the staff will always be of excellence, professionalism, kindness, caring and fun. I had the highest confidence that Mum would be well cared for; which was particularly important as we live away.
From the very start, she was made very welcome and quickly settled in, enjoying her interactions with the staff and making friends with other residents. Mum often commented how kind everyone was and how she was enjoying her lady’s life.
The home is well presented and maintained. The staff are bright, cheerful, very helpful and accommodating to visitors. They are knowledgeable, and I am grateful for their excellent advice.
The entertainments team are very ably led, enthusiastic, innovative and, perhaps, more importantly, full of fun. We always enjoyed reading about the monthly activities and future plans. We shall miss the newsletter and its quirky anecdotes.

I have no hesitation in recommending Elmhurst to others.

Mum spent the last 18 months of her life at Elmhurst and she loved it. Though initially reluctant to leave her home she settled quickly. The management, staff and carers at Elmhurst really do care and it shows. Mum was treated with respect and dignity and above all great kindness. She enjoyed the food, much of it home-grown and benefited greatly from the opportunities to socialise. Though naturally shy, with gentle encouragement she began to enjoy the small group activities, crafts and quizzes and she made friends. After only a few weeks there we noticed an improvement in her general health and well-being. We were always impressed by the cleanliness and general decoration of Elmhurst, Mum appreciated it too and loved her generously proportioned room. Her possessions were respected and her clothes were nicely laundered. Mum was cared for with love and kindness right to the end. We knew that and so did she. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Elmhurst.

My father, who suffered from Alzheimer's, was in Elmhurst for the final year of his life, and apart from wishing he could have stayed at home, which had sadly become impossible, I could not have wished for him to have been in a better place. In stark contrast to two other homes he spent time in, Elmhurst is super clean and doesn't smell (pretty amazing in a dementia wing). The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, and the whole place is newly refurbished and has a light and airy feel. The staff are all lovely and treated him with kindness, good humour and respect. He wasn't an easy patient, but they worked out ways of coping with him, and when I visited, I found him comfortable and content. In previous homes, he had been climbing the walls desperate to get out but he never once asked to go home from Elmhurst. He was clearly happy and settled there. Having had an experience of three care homes, I can thoroughly recommend this one. It is in a league of its own.

On behalf of my family we can’t thank everyone at Elmhurst enough for everything they do for my Nan. After initially worrying about the change of moving into a care home, my Nan is the happiest we’ve seen her in a long time. All the staff are amazing and would do anything for my Nan and us as a family. In the situation we’re left in, Elmhurst has gone above and beyond for the residents and families. They have set up a way to communicate to our loved ones. Speaking to my Nan over video chat meant the world with out being able to see her in person.

Elmhurst is an amazing care home. Since my Mother in Law moved in, almost a year ago, she has received the very best of care and always treated with compassion and respect. All staff are wonderful - cheerful, highly professional and committed to ensuring that residents reach their potential. It is not easy putting a relative with dementia into a care home but our family "rest easy" knowing that Mum feels loved and safe. The physical environment is lovely - light and airy, yet homely, with wonderful views from lounges. Always spotlessly clean. Cannot recommend Elmhurst highly enough.

A beautiful place to be inside and out.
Staff are so friendly and caring. Mum has settled in really well. It's like a family to the residents and their family.

No quick turnover of staff so residents see the same people regularly.

My father was admitted in July 2019, after a bed becoming available via social services and top up by family. I cannot thank the management and staff enough for their support, kindness and excellent care.
It has been excellent and trustworthy.
As you can imagine, the transition for my mum and dad has been hard but if it wasn't for this care home giving 100% care and support, they would have found it hard, but didn't.

Thank you.

Having been forced to find a care home for my father, I had to look at a few and select the one I felt to be suitable for him. Following a visit to Elmhurst at Prees, I felt this was the one where I could cope with visiting Dad. No smell that I experienced in all the other homes, relaxed people, lovely staff, I too was made to feel at home. The following months have proved this to be an outstanding home, fantastic care, first-class staff, and great management. Dad is now walking with a frame and has improved dramatically after leaving hospital and having Elmhurst care. Elmhurst is approx 50 mile round trip for me and I try to visit daily, but this is about Dads care not the distance it is from me.

On behalf of our family we cannot recommend Elmhurst Care Home more highly. They cared for Mum for a relatively short time however the patience, kindness and thoughtfulness of their care was very much appreciated, making the end of her life peaceful. The environment is calm, immaculately clean and filled with smiling faces. We visited frequently over the last month at different times of the day and night and always saw residents treated with dignity and respect.

The nursing staff are skilled and responsive. There are regular care staff who are friendly, approachable and obviously very well trained, there was always someone available to talk to who were up to date with Mum's needs. The equipment, bathrooms, beds, furniture, wheelchairs and hoists were all of excellent quality and available to meet residents' needs. They got the big things right but also the little things too like tone of voice and talking to Mum directly even when she was unable to understand or express her opinions.

I am writing to say what an excellent nursing home Elmshurst at Prees, Shropshire is. My Father was staying there from 27th February 2019 until he passed away on the 16th March.
The care and attention he received was above and beyond expected, the staff are so caring and treat the residents with much respect and dignity. The whole place is like a 5 star hotel.

I will certainly recommend Elmshurst to everyone.

I have visited my sister twice, December 2018 and February 2019. I visited her at another Care Home in August 2018. The improvement in care provided is striking. Now her hair is cared for, at the previous home it had been lank and untended. Her clothes are her own, at the other home she often was wearing someone else's clothes.

Staff at Elmhurst were friendly and attentive creating an atmosphere of calm gentleness enhanced by fresh decor.

My sister's room had family photographs that I recognised from her own home. It seemed to be truly her room.

I felt that the staff treated my sister with dignity and respect, exemplified by the staff facilities, rather than taking the easy option of suggesting I used the en suite. My sister would not have been able to give consent for me to use her toilet.

Equally impressive was the pet friendliness. My rescue dog is responsive to the atmosphere and responds well to calm; she was happy even in this new place.

Mum was admitted to Elmhurst for palliative care in September 2018. As a family, we have been thrilled with the personal care and attention afforded to Mum throughout her stay. The management team and staff at all levels have been magnificent, demonstrating great kindness to Mum and at all times welcoming to the family. We have been delighted with the progress made by Mum and feel that this is testimony, both to the professionalism and personal qualities of the staff. Mum certainly enjoys a good deal of banter with her carers! Elmhurst offers a wide range of activities and Mum is unable to join in at present. However, the staff ensure that she does not feel isolated. All in all, it's been a heartwarming experience to date.

I had been looking for respite care for my mum-in-law and had visited 9 care homes. Many of the staff were lovely and the rooms great but there was always something that made me keep looking. Within minutes of seeing Elmhurst and meeting the manager, it was obvious this was somewhere special.
Mum-in-law stayed for 3 weeks and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she received. The staff and management really care and provide as near a ‘home from home’ atmosphere as possible. Mum was treated with dignity and kindness and said the staff were lovely and that she felt she was being ‘looked after”.
The refurbishment has been done to a high standard and whilst still practical it is stylish and comfortable for the residents. Both rooms and clothing are kept immaculately.

For me, Elmhurst is head and shoulders above other care homes I visited and I would not hesitate to recommend.
