It certainly would not be my first choice of nursing home in Shrewsbury.

My brother was very happy at The Uplands Care Home albeit for a short stay. In my opinion The Uplands is a very well-run care home, the staff are all first-class which made my brother's last days very peaceful.

Mum would want us to sincerely thank everyone at The Uplands for the kind and attentive care she received during her all too short stay. We wouldn't fault anything. Rooms were always clean, laundry was excellent (smelling fresh and ironed). Food was homecooked and lovely. Every member of staff we met (at all levels ranging from the front desk, the amazing cleaning staff, the warm hearted caregivers and the compassionate nursing) was absolutely amazing.

People were knowledgeable and thoughtful, respectful and helpful both to mum and us as a family. We appreciated being made aware of the options and being involved in the decisions. We were kept informed at all stages and supported as a 'whole' right through to the peaceful end.

The care, compassion and kindness shown and given to my mum was amazing. Mum needed respite care and I have no doubt that the speed of her recovery was mainly due to her stay at the Uplands. Every single person who came into contact with mum were first class.

The care my mum received at The Uplands was excellent. The staff who looked after Mum were always considerate, respectful, patient and so kind. In the last few days of Mum's life, they supported all the family with sensitivity and compassion. The Uplands is outstanding.

Mum spent her last 5 months at The Uplands happy with her robotic cat Tiddles, it was a hard decision but she actually flourished within the care of "her Nurses" and we were able to visit most days despite covid and we are very grateful for all the staff's most capable professional care it made the journey so much easier for us all. Thank you.

My mother had an amazing stay at The Uplands. I went in three or four times a week and noticed all the staff spoke to residents in a jolly and friendly way and couldn't do enough for them, including cleaners. Front desk - always helpful. Food - what can I say, from a qualified chef, it was brilliant - she loved the fruit crumbles. Well done The Uplands.

My husband has been a resident for over five years. He has been cared for in every possible way I would want. I am very grateful for this. I visit every day and see how well everyone of the residents are cared for on Dorrington Unit. I am a retired nurse, so feel I can give an honest opinion.

The care my husband receives is excellent. The home recently changed hands so things could change. It does need more permanent staff as it relies a lot on agency staff. I believe this is the case in all nursing homes. Regular, permanent staff are really important in dementia units. The regular staff are all brilliant.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of our home. Social care has struggled during the pandemic to recruit staff, but thankfully things are starting to pick up. Whilst we would choose not to use agency staff in the home over our own staff, we always ensure our staffing numbers are...

Following my concern for my Great Nan, all my worries were put at ease after speaking with the home's manager.
She called me back very quickly and reassured me that my Nan is in capable hands. It's not easy leaving a loved one in the hands of a stranger and this is her first time so we want it to be comfortable for her.

The manager assured me that my Nan is okay and is well looked after!

Reply from Carey Bloomer, Managing Director at The Uplands
Thank you for taking the time to respond. We understand how difficult it is when leaving a family member in the care of complete strangers. Our staff are always there to answer any questions you may have about your Great Nan's care. We are always looking to improve our care for all our residents and welcome any feedback from residents or family.

Many thanks from all the team.
