Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Dad spent time at Brancepeth as a step down from hospital 2 years ago. Continued ill health has now led him to be a full-time nursing resident. He is 87 and extremely frail. He was recently in hospital again and, on returning to Brancepeth, said how lovely it was to be returning 'home'. The staff
are wonderful, caring and so friendly - both to me and to my Dad. He couldn't be in a better place.

My Mam has been in Lumley Court for over 3 years now. Prior to that she was cared for at home by my Dad who subsequently became ill and could no care for her. Since being at Lumley Court she is happier and healthier than she was before. She still has dementia of course but the staff are great with her
and the residents. You really won't find a nicer group of carers and nurses to look after your loved ones. There are lots of social activities and the Home is often decorated with the current theme - Halloween was spectacular. To see her so happy gives a lot of comfort to me. I live a long way away so being able to trust her with such a loving team is a great relief.

The home is a very caring place - from cleaners and laundry staff right up to the manager. Cleanliness is excellent and the place doesn't have that 'smell' you can often find in such establishments.

It was hard to find a suitable care home to meet my husband's complex care needs after he fell from a ladder incurring a head injury which led to him spending a year in hospital and NHS rehab. He has been a resident in The Hawthorns for over a year where I find the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming
and the manager and staff are very approachable and helpful. I have been impressed by the carers abilities in managing my husband's challenging behaviours. It is very reassuring to see him being so well cared for.
Reply from Mawuli Mensa, Home Manager at The Hawthorns Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience. We're so pleased to hear that you and your husband feel supported, and that our team's care and approach have been reassuring during such a difficult journey. It's our privilege to look after him, and we truly appreciate your kind words.

Brancepeth Court Care Home has been amazing. I honestly couldn't recommend them enough. Every single person there, the carers, nurses, entertainment team, management, maintenance, treated my grandad with so much kindness and respect.
You can really tell they care about the people they look after. They
made him feel comfortable, cared for and genuinely loved and that meant the world to us as a family.
We're so grateful for everything they did. They gave him the best care we could have wished for.

I think this is an excellent care home. The home is kept very clean. The food is excellent and the menu is varied. Most of the carers are veyr good but some could be more helpful and compassionate. Overall it is a very good home. The one big complaint I have is my brother-in-law's clothing goes missing,
including his soft top socks. Sometimes never to be found again, even though they are all clearly marked with his name and room number.
Reply from Mawuli Mensa, Home Manager at The Hawthorns Care HomeThank you very much for your kind words, i will certainly share this with the team, can i also reassure you your brother inlaw's wife states that there are no missing items.

The staff are welcoming and interact well with residents and visitors. The rooms would benefit from en-suite showers but these would be expensive and may present health and safety issues so this be unfair. Activities are regular and there are regular professional acts of a good standard. Access to a
kitchen area for visitors is a great bonus. I have experience of five local care homes and Lumley Court is the best.

My overall experience is that the staff show great respect, patience, care and professionalism to the residence. I trust the home with my lovely mam. Activities could be more bespoke to individuals needs + rooms. In the last 3 months, the food has improved significantly and is appropriate and nutrious.
Mam looks forward to it. Sometimes residents wait at the exit, which is uncomfortable when leaving or entering. The room is lovely but I think the bathroom is old and in need of updating. The garden space is good but could be more interesting and beautiful for the residence. Its an important space.

When my wife, Ellen, was discharged from hospital after a ten week stay we as a family were immediately impressed with Fountains first impression was of cleanliness, the whole home is spotless. The care staff on floor two are professional, well trained, very welcoming to my family and other visitors.
From the front office staff activity team to catering staff and cleaning staff they have been brilliant. Mustn't forget Claire and Vanessa. Five stars all round.
