Oak Park Care Home

from L W (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the care my father is receiving at Oak park care home/bond care. Specifically, there was an incident involving a cut on my father's elbow. Unfortunately, the regional manager did not follow up with me as promised. Despite assurances that I would
be contacted by email, I received no communication, nor was an incident report created. This lack of follow-through is deeply concerning, as it directly impacts both my father's safety and my trust in the care provided. I request that this matter be escalated to the Care Commissioning Group so that it can be properly investigated and addressed. I expect a prompt response outlining the steps that will be taken.
Reply from Sam Chontow, Regional Manager at Oak Park Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We are sorry to hear you feel let down and understand how important it is for families to feel confident in their loved one's care. We would like to reassure you that we have been in regular contact with the relevant agencies involved in your father's care, including the Care Quality Commission and Social Care Team, and will continue working closely with them to support his wellbeing.

Our team has maintained communication with your family through telephone calls and a scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting, where updates and actions were discussed openly.

We apologise if any part of our follow up did not meet your expectations. It is never our intention for anyone to feel unheard. We remain committed to addressing your concerns and keeping all parties informed.

As we cannot discuss individual details publicly, we will continue to speak with you directly to review this matter fully and ensure you feel supported.

Reply from Sam Chontow, Regional Manager at Oak Park Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience when trying to make contact, and we understand how important it is to stay connected with loved ones.
At Oak Park Care Home, we are committed to supporting meaningful contact between residents and their families wherever possible. However, there are occasions where we must follow specific guidance and arrangements in place for individual residents, and our team are required to always adhere to these.

We are sorry if the way this was communicated to you caused any upset or distress. This is certainly not the experience we would want for you or your family, and we will take this opportunity to remind our team of the importance of responding with empathy and sensitivity in all interactions.

If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the management team, who will be happy to discuss further.

Southwell Court

from Gerald C (Husband of Resident) published on 28 April 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife was a resident at Southwell Court for a short time in an end of life situation. Although my wife was only in the home for 12 days before she died she was treated with care and compassion. The attention to detail of my wife's needs was outstanding. The professionalism of the staff at all levels
was first class. The management responded instantly to all my requests and in my opinion this care home is of an exceptionally high standard- I cannot praise them highly enough. The manager led by example, was available out of normal hours, and was worshipped by his staff- a born leader.
Reply from Charles G Sadler, General Manager at Southwell CourtWhat a wonderful review, you and your family have been so kind to us all. It was a genuine privilege to have your beautiful wife live with us.
She and you all will be fondly remembered.
We sincerely wish you and your utterly lovely family all the very best for your future.
I do hope our paths cross again.
With warmest sympathies

Overall, this care home is really good with just a few things to improve. Caring and sympathetic staff. Access to management could improve. Probably the best care home in the area (through experience).
Reply from Karen Faith de Pablo, Registered Manager at Springfield Care CentreThank you for your feedback.
We're pleased to hear you find the home caring and our staff supportive.
We're sorry to hear that accessing management has felt difficult. There is a relatives' surgery every Thursday from 3-5pm (walk-in or by appointment), and management can also be accessed daily on a walk-in basis. We also hold quarterly relatives' meetings. Management is available out of hours if needed, and you're always welcome to email us for any non-urgent queries.
We appreciate your comments and will continue to look at ways to improve accessibility. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Walking through the doors lovely environment, warm and inviting, fragrant no bad odours. Managers door always open and happy to talk to you. Staff friendly, helpful and supportive. We can leave Mam/Wife feeling she is safe and well cared for. Staff work very hard. Could do with an extra staff member
due to the support and care needed. Toilet requests have to wait quite a while due to supporting others.

Ashwood Care Centre

This place saved my mother's life. No doubt. She lived at home with visiting careers for a while. But she was not doing well. Not well at all! From moving into Ashwood a few years ago she has literally blossomed! She is thriving! She is doing her hair and nails again. Choosing the clothes she would
like to wear that day etc.
She is so happy there, and feels so safe that she won't leave! You will not get her further than the beautiful gardens. And if she has time for a call in the evening, after a cooked breakfast and cereal, a cooked lunch, a morning full of practical activities and an afternoon chatting in the living room before dinner then you are privileged!
I have just got home after a wonderful afternoon at an Easter tea party. Where she won a beautiful and large make up pallet at the raffel and I am so stuffed I am going to take a nap now.
Thankyou so much to all the staff working so hard at Ashwood Care Center. You are all family.

Alexander Court Care Centre

from Daniel C (Son of Resident) published on 20 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My mum's final months at Alexandra Court were heartbreaking, and I deeply regret she spent her last days here. The care was unacceptable. As a vegetarian, her meals were a joke-usually just food covered in cheese sauce. They once even served her a microwaved beetroot and cheese sandwich.
Basic hygiene
was neglected; we often found her in filthy bedding and unchanged clothes. Call bells were ignored for ages by indifferent staff. Most devastating was the lack of empathy when she passed away. One staff member actually told us, "we all have to go sometime," while management demanded we clear her room within 48 hours. Only one person showed any real compassion.
This home lacks basic dignity and professional standards. If you want your loved one to be treated with respect and stay clean and fed, do not send them here. The "care" provided was cold, lazy, and deeply disrespectful to a vulnerable woman and her grieving family.
Reply from Abi SANUSI, Home Manager at Alexander Court Care CentreI want to personally thank you for your honest review. We take all feedback seriously, especially when it highlights areas where we've fallen short of expectations.
I've thoroughly reviewed your comments with our team, and we're implementing changes to address the issues you've raised. Specifically, we're reviewing our approach the resident on last phase of life alongside support given to the family.
once again, we are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations. please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss and our apologies once again for any distress you may have suffered.

I'm beyond grateful for all the care and support my Mum received during her stay at Henwick Grange. From the minute she arrived to her passing the staff have been so kind and caring towards Mum and me.
They made a real effort to get to know her, made her feel welcomed and helped her adjust and settle
in.
They made her feel safe and secure. I always knew when I wasn't with Mum she was being well looked after. This in turn was a great comfort to me.
We were very lucky to have found such a wonderful place that Mum called home.

I have found most of the team at Donwell House to be caring, professional and friendly. I would add that a few people there go above and beyond. The building and some of the rooms look a little tired but I do see regular improvements being made. I'd like to see easier access to a safe outdoor area during
the Spring/Summer months.
Reply from Bianca Pavel, Care Home Manager at Donwell House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We are very pleased to hear that you have found our team to be caring, professional and friendly. Your kind words mean a great deal, and we will be sure to pass on your appreciation to the staff, especially those who have gone above and beyond to make a positive difference.
We also appreciate your honest comments regarding the environment. As you've noted, we are currently undertaking an ongoing programme of redecoration and improvement throughout the home, and it is encouraging to hear that these efforts are being recognised.
In relation to outdoor access, we completely agree on the importance of having a safe and welcoming outdoor space, particularly during the Spring and Summer months. Plans to enhance and improve our outdoor areas are already in development, and this is something we are actively working towards.
Thank you once again for your constructive feedback and support.

and keep us well informed of any issues
i have observed there is always plenty of food and drink on offer and residents are encourage to eat and drink regularly.
initially a few clothes went missing ,down to poor planning on my part as they were not marked well enough since this has been rectified no futher issues

Richden Park

Luke was incredibly helpful getting my grandad a room here at short notice due to being let down by the care home he was put in by the local authority.

Within 24 hours of enquiring, my grandad was given a lovely clean room and all our worries were immediately put to bed.

I am always updated by

the staff if grandad has an appointment, needs anything or even just to let me know he is doing well.

Richden always appears clean and every staff member I have encountered has been friendly and helpful, and like in lots of other homes, they don't appear stressed and over-worked.

The home has a lovely vibe and I am 100% reassured that grandad is safe.

I have visited many care homes and Richden is a very special place. I wouldn't (and dont) hesitate to recommend Richden Park.

Luke and his team do an incredible job and Bond care should be proud to have them!

Southwell Court

Mum needed more care than one live in carer could provide. It was heart-wrenching to place mum in Southwell Court. It has been a very good experience. Mum has become strong physically, her mental decline is not better, however, stimulation daily by the home entertainment team has helped her. She seems
very happy and maybe has gained a little weight too! A very positive experience, even though it's hard to do for us.
Reply from Charles G Sadler, General Manager at Southwell CourtWhat a lovely review, your wonderful mother is one of the first people I went out to meet when starting here so is very special to me. I have just seen her walking with staff not 5 minutes ago and am so impressed at her determination to keep up her mobility. I really appreciate you taking time out to fill this out for us. Thank you
