Mom's room has been decorated well, and pink is her favourite colour. The staff asked how she wanted it to look. Activities are good here, moms are excited for the summer fayre. Staff are helpful, and managers are approachable. Nice smelling home upon entering, homely and family orientated.

My dad has spent quite a few years at Kingfisher Nursing Home. Currently, the care he is receiving is excellent. Caring, kind staff who ensure he is comfortable and treated as an individual with dignity. The management of the nursing home is in excellent hands, and their door is always open if we have
any concerns about my dad's health or care needs. The overall experience is excellent, and this gives us as a family peace of mind that my dad is well looked after. Thank you.

Looked after my poorly stepdad for end of life care, although his time here was very short, the team looked after him with respect and care I would want for myself. Nothing was too much from all staff. Met with smiles and compassion by everyone on every visit day and night staff. The end of life care
each and every member of staff gave my stepdad was exceptional thankyou so much from the bottom of our hearts for giving our loved one a dignified respectful ending and listening to all of our concerns
Reply from Hayley Kyte, Home Manager at Herondale/KingfisherThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a touching review and for sharing your family's experience with us.

Over the last few weeks, I have seen the staff work together very well as a team. They pull together to make each day count. Although they are under increasing pressure from daily tasks, they plough through. They try to support each resident's individual needs. They have been very supportive of us as
a family. When problems occur, they are dealt with promptly. A big thank you from myself and my mom to all the team, from the management to the nurses, carers, activity staff, kitchen staff, and maintenance staff. Keep up the good work.
Reply from HAYLEY KYTE, Home Manager at Herondale/KingfisherThank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt feedback.

It means a great deal to the entire team to know that our efforts are recognised and appreciated. Caring for our residents is at the heart of everything we do, and whilst there can be challenges and pressures throughout each day, our staff remain committed to working together to provide the highest standard of care, support, and companionship possible.

Your kind words about every department-from management, nurses and carers to activities, kitchen and maintenance staff-will be shared with the team.

We have seen positive improvement in Bernard, and we attribute this to his being involved in various activities, in part and a more inclusive environment. He can be independent and non-cooperative, but is treated with respect.

Your comments are greatly appreciated and will be shared with the team, who work hard every day to ensure residents feel respected, supported, and included. Thank you for placing your trust in us and for recognising the efforts made to support Bernard's journey.

My Dad was looked after by the wonderful staff, nurses and carers at Kingfisher. Everywhere was always clean, he was well kept and communication was strong at all times. They looked after him through his dementia and also to see out his last days. Special mention of two staff members who were always
supportive and kind through the hardest of times. Would highly recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.401)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.401) out of 10 for Herondale/Kingfisher is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.577 for Herondale/Kingfisher is calculated as follows: ( (107 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.577
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.824 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Herondale/Kingfisher is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 registered maximum number of service users is 15.8. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.8 = 0.949
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
