Where to start the home have helped me and my dad during mental health crisis. Abhin was a true angel sent down. He has gone above and beyond for my mum and she has settled so well since being put there after a hospital stay. She is clean washed well cared for. The food is amazing the staff are amazing.
The chickens and ducks are amazing. The lounge is lovely. The activities are lovely the doors are always open and the staff are so well trained I cannot fault them they are a 5 star and I would give them 500. My mum has dementia and the pain and guilt we had putting her in a home was awful. But I don't feel that anymore Springfield have offered us peace and calm in knowing she is loved and respected by all. Thank you thank you abhin and all the other staff for allowing our minds to rest knowing mum is safe happy and living the best way she can with this horrible condition. We can't change it but we can make the best of it and your home and care and now mums home has allowed this x

This is a very clean and well kept care home. It always smells pleasant and has been recently decorated including some beautiful new artwork.
The carers are wonderful. I visit my father at all different times and I always see the carers being kind, caring and patient to the adults in their care.
The
nurses have been very supportive and always respond to emails. They too are very kind, gentle and patient. They understand my father's needs.
The wellbeing team are fantastic! Darren's enthusiasm is evident.
Recently my father who is mainly bed bound has had three outings out. He has enjoyed them all. In particular the trip to the river boat.
Lots of activities are planned to keep the residents interested and active and when Dad chooses to join in he has a great time.
The rooms are large plenty of room for Dad's paintings. He is cosy in the Winter and not too hot in the Summer

Ashwood Care Centre

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been at Ashwood Care Home for 4 years.
She sadly passed away on 20th October 2025.
During her stay at Ashwood Care, my mum always thought it was her home. She would say things like "go to the kitchen and make me a cup of tea". Or I cooked some food for you, it's in the oven"!
My mum was
well and truly cared for my all the staff. She was happy and always looked so well. She eat well and was always clean and in different clothing each day. The stress of looking after mum at home was so hard. Once she arrived at the home, things changed and we got to spend quality time with mum. Chatting and playing music to her etc.
She was happy, happy happy and we would like to "thank" Roxana and her brilliant team for all the love and kindness that mum had over the years, without them, mum would have gone down hill and passed away sooner, if she was living at home. She went to the best care home and was cared for dearly. A HUGE THANK you to all the DAY & NIGHT staff for everything!!!
Reply from Harry Inglis, RM at Ashwood Care CentreAngela - I think its hard to believe that it has been 4 years since admission.

My overall rating is excellent because whenever I visited my Aunt at Fern Garden Care Home, I noticed the cleanliness of the facility, the Staff were easily available for the Resident as well as to the Visitors, and timely scheduling for the Resident meals and taking medication.

I also received regular

communication through email regarding her health and residency condition. They also informed me whenever there is medical procedure she requires.

They sent me Resident/Relatives Meeting Invitations and Meeting Notes, which is important for me to know what is going on at Care Home.

Despite recurrent shortages the staff do an excellent job often working well beyond their basic hours and duties. Eating requirements have become more complex and demanding than in the old days so the catering staff do their best to meet these challenges but naturally it is impossible to achieve 100%.
There is generally a happy atmosphere in the home and the staff are very caring.

We regularly visit my aunt following her decision to remain at Alexander Court after previously having spent some time in hospital after a fall.
She is comfortable and content with her new home, and when we visit, she is relaxed and is well fed, and treated respectfully by the staff. We see that she
is well-liked, and the staff always make us feel welcome. We are happy that she is well looked after. We would wish she had more interaction with other residents, but because she is bed-bound, this is not possible.

I was very apprehensive on my father having to go into a home, but he moved in to fern gardens last December 2024 and I can seriously say that my mind was at rest,
What ever time of day we turn up to visit my father the home is clean all staff are very friendl and will always speak to us if we have
any concerns or need any updates on his health or medication.
My father can be very challenging at times but know that he is always well looked after so feel happy to leave him with his carer who is looking after him.
He has been on a number of outings, which I'm sure he has enjoyed as the photos that are put on the website show how much fun they are having.

This care home has improved considerably over the last 12 months. The facilities provided for the residents has improved and also the responsiveness to dealing with issues have greatly improved. The residents are encouraged to participate in activities by the activities manager and singalongs are great
to hear. The annual Barbecue was a great success with all the staff participated in. Keep Up the good work.

Communication between the care home and myself is really good, I am always kept upto date with any changes that may have been made regarding my relative or the home.
ALL staff are very friendly and welcoming.
I was very impressed when the building work was going on, there was minimum mess and minimum
disruption. It feel like a home from home, I can go in and make myself a drink if it was wanted.
The level of care is good and although some care may be refused from my relative, he is always asked and encouraged which is appreciated.

My Mother (Stephanie) was a resident at Derwent Lodge care home from 2019. She passed away in September 2025.
My Mother had Dementia, heart failure arthritis. She was taken good care by the family at home, then she got very sick was hospitalize. The doctors said her kidneys were very bad (13%) told
us she will live 3 days then 3 weeks then they told us she need nursing care 24/7 and we need to move her to a care home. she was on palliative care may live for 3 months but my mum lived nearly 7 years without any regular medication with the help of family, Nurses, care givers and the management of the Derwent lodge.
When mum came first there were laps in care overall but with the new management team it started picking up to be the best care home. Care home manager gave a beautiful new look to the care home now it looks like a 5 star hotel.
I would like to Thank kitchen, cleaning , Laundry , care & Nursing team. "Derwent" best I have seen for along time in the care industry.

My mum was only at Fountains 10 days where she died. She slept most of the time and was too frail to leave her room. But I heard activities, etc, and other residents were enjoying themselves. All staff were lovely and caring, and even those you passed in the corridor acknowledged you. When Mum was actively
dying, we were all made comfortable at her bedside with tea/coffee and things were explained before and after she died. Well done Fountains!!
Reply from Claire May, Home Manager at The Fountains Care CentreThank you for your positive comment. When you are able, could you advise the low-scoring areas, as it is not the standard we aim for. We are glad that we were also able to support her husband and the family on the day of the funeral. As she was only with us for a short time it was lovely to her about her full and wonderful life.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum became part of your wonderful care home family in March 2025. She is very happy and loving life. I am so happy to see mum doing well and enjoy her life with you. Mum turned 90 in May and was spoilt by the home. The staff are outstanding and they all work over and beyond for all the residents.
Every visit is a pleasure and every one says hello. Nothing is to much trouble and the home is so encouraging. Plenty of daily activities, trips and functions, which mum loves. Thank you Ashwood for everything.
