Derwent Lodge Care Centre

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Communication between the care home and myself is really good, I am always kept upto date with any changes that may have been made regarding my relative or the home.
ALL staff are very friendly and welcoming.
I was very impressed when the building work was going on, there was minimum mess and minimum
disruption. It feel like a home from home, I can go in and make myself a drink if it was wanted.
The level of care is good and although some care may be refused from my relative, he is always asked and encouraged which is appreciated.

My Mother (Stephanie) was a resident at Derwent Lodge care home from 2019. She passed away in September 2025.
My Mother had Dementia, heart failure arthritis. She was taken good care by the family at home, then she got very sick was hospitalize. The doctors said her kidneys were very bad (13%) told
us she will live 3 days then 3 weeks then they told us she need nursing care 24/7 and we need to move her to a care home. she was on palliative care may live for 3 months but my mum lived nearly 7 years without any regular medication with the help of family, Nurses, care givers and the management of the Derwent lodge.
When mum came first there were laps in care overall but with the new management team it started picking up to be the best care home. Care home manager gave a beautiful new look to the care home now it looks like a 5 star hotel.
I would like to Thank kitchen, cleaning , Laundry , care & Nursing team. "Derwent" best I have seen for along time in the care industry.

My mum was only at Fountains 10 days where she died. She slept most of the time and was too frail to leave her room. But I heard activities, etc, and other residents were enjoying themselves. All staff were lovely and caring, and even those you passed in the corridor acknowledged you. When Mum was actively
dying, we were all made comfortable at her bedside with tea/coffee and things were explained before and after she died. Well done Fountains!!

My mum became part of your wonderful care home family in March 2025. She is very happy and loving life. I am so happy to see mum doing well and enjoy her life with you. Mum turned 90 in May and was spoilt by the home. The staff are outstanding and they all work over and beyond for all the residents.
Every visit is a pleasure and every one says hello. Nothing is to much trouble and the home is so encouraging. Plenty of daily activities, trips and functions, which mum loves. Thank you Ashwood for everything.

Ashwood Care Centre

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My brother has been a resident at Ashwood for 18 mths. He has a degenerative condition which means he is bed-bound in the main. Staff are usually on hand to support my brother and keep him clean and fed/hydrated - as he is unable to do this for himself. They are all friendly and dutiful and talk
to my brother when they are attending to him although he cannot respond to them. He is treated with respect. I get updates from Gladness (onsite nurse) when there are any health issues or concerns. Home management provide updates/notifications frequently and seek feedback to check that what they are doing as regards care, support and activities is appropriate. Whilst my brother cannot take part in activities I often see these taking place - including a singer singing songs from the war/post war era which was very good and the residents seemed to really enjoy this! It's clear that a lot of thought goes into this. Rooms/facilities are generally clean. I would recommend the home to families

My Dad spent the last 3 and a half years at Alexander Court up until he passed away at the end of September. We could not thank the staff enough for the excellent treatment and care he received during the time he spent there. In his final days the staff were very supportive and caring and helped us
in every way they could, this is something that we will always remember and are so grateful for this.
From the moment you step in the door all staff are so welcoming, the reception staff, cleaners, cooks etc all take the time to say 'hello' and to make conversation. The nursing staff and support staff are so kind and caring and take the time to get to know relatives. There is an open door policy which really says it all, they have nothing to hide.
Its the hardest thing to have to place a loved one in a care home but I would recommend this one to anybody.

Springfield is a totally amazing care home. Truly the best in the Borough. The dedication and care was second to none for my cousin George who was with them until February. So now it's was the natural choice for my father in law who became a new resident on Friday. We are confident that we have made
the right decision and apart from the love and care they show every resident , Our family are relieved and can sleep at night knowing my father in law is in safe hands. The home is spotlessly clean , the staff are so caring and attentive , there are lots of activities for the residents to get involved with ensuring they have a good quality of life. The management are so professional and caring they are a real credit to Bond Care. A big shout out to Karen for her friendship not only with my cousin but with me. An amazing woman. She is constantly ensuring all residents are happy. A shout out to for KP. A lovely responsible man who portrays outstanding care. Springfield - best care home ever.

My mother in law, Joan, has been a resident at Derwent Lodge for the past seven years, and I can honestly say it has been a wonderful experience for her and great peace of mind for our family. From the very beginning, the staff have shown nothing but kindness, compassion, and genuine care. They always
go above and beyond to make sure she feels comfortable, respected, and part of a community.

Joan has been very happy living here. She enjoys the friendly atmosphere, the social activities, and the warm, homely environment. It is clear that the team really take the time to get to know each resident personally, which makes such a differenc

Over the years, we have always found the management and staff approachable, professional, and supportive. The care provided is consistent and of a very high standard, and it is wonderful to see Joan so content and well looked after. We are truly grateful to everyone at Derwent Lodge for creating such a safe, caring, and happy home.

Thank you so much for looking after Rita for these last 6.5yrs. It's been heart breaking for our family watching Rita decline over these last few years. Not living locally, we weren't able to visit as regularly as we would have liked but it was comforting to know that Rita was always well looked after
by the Ashwood team. I have to say a special thank you to Gladness , she has been lovely , always making sure we were updated accordingly and always treated Rita with dignity and respect (as did the rest of the team). Her care throughout her stay has been consistent and any isssues that have cropped up have been dealt with quickly and efficiently.

I've been a Resident at Rosewood House Care home in the neurology unit, for almost 2 years now. I honestly, don't know where would I be if it wasn't for this outstandingly caring home. Living in such a facility can be quite challenging for most of us . But, the truth is, from the manager and the wellbeing
team and with the caregivers, nurses and everyone caring for us. The home goes beyond expectations to offer the best care with attentiveness and ease. I came a long way and, I really appreciate everything the home did to help me through out my journey of healing! Thank you all, from all my heart

My mum was admitted from hospital as she needed more care than she was getting at home. The staff were extremely tolerant and understanding of her occasional outbursts and the activities varied and appropriate for residents varying conditions.
