Review submitted from a Website Submission by Brian S (Nephew of Resident) on Tuesday 10 April 2018. Relates to April 2018.
This is in light of my aunt moving from a well run caring home that closed. My first impression is a lack of staff. My aunt is dressed but then left in bed until the afternoon with absolutely no stimulation. When we ask to get her up the answer is always "later, we are too busy. " We're told she moans about pain, not surprising all those hours in bed. They say she is turned 1/2 hourly but this has never happened when we have visited. Staff sit in the day room and chat to each other, completely ignoring the residents. Home says cafe and shop, these do not exist. We have never seen any activities happening. Both our family and my aunt's friend and have tried calling the unit many times but no answer most of the time (we are told this is due to telephone system problem being rectified soon). My aunt always seems to have her meals in bed, this has always been the case when we have turned up while some others eat together. She needs 2 staff to get her up, is this the problem? Would there be enough staff in event of a fire?

The service supplied by this care home was extremely poor. Safety is totally unacceptable, not very clean, people left in wheelchairs all day long. Carers take a lot to be desired, always absent from lounge where residents were left in wheelchairs. The staff have totally no compassion to family. I could go on forever.
How likely would you be to recommend Springfield Care Centre? Extremely Unlikely
