My father was a resident at Springfield Care Centre from November 18 - January 19 for end of life care. Whilst his stay was relatively brief the treatment, respect and overall care provided could not be faulted. It is also my belief that care and respect works both ways by working closely with the staff
providing the service. I cannot thank enough all of the staff who cared for my father around the clock keeping him comfortable and pain-free.

I would highly recommend this care centre to anyone who has to place a loved one into care. I am glad that I made the correct choice in Springfield.

My mother became unwell in November 2017 and was relocated to Springfield Care Centre, she was very unwell at the time of admission. The staff were absolutely fantastic with her, nothing was to much trouble and they slowly coaxed my mum back and got her eating and drinking which in turn had a really
positive effect on not only my mum but other family members also. My mum gained weight and slowly her memory got better to the point where I was able to take her out on visits to shops cafes etc. I would often get a call from a staff member if there were any concerns and or upcoming appointments, which was very reassuring for me as I felt Mum was being properly cared for.

It is due to the kindness and compassion of ALL the staff at Springfield that I was was able to spend an extra year with my mother and without them, I am sure I would never have had this time and for that I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you for everything you have done for my wife over the years. She was looked after with great respect and dignity at all times. I could not have asked for a better care from anyone else. The staff have been friendly and welcoming over the years. Highly recommended.

Being the start of dad's care home life, I was concerned with regard how he would be treated. Had no need for concern, everyone from the management to the nurses, carers, cleaners and even maintenance men have been friendly and courteous to both dad and me. And if we've needed anything to be dealt with
there has been no delay. Lovely people doing a hard job, well done.

I recently gave Springfield Care home a very negative review concerning my aunt. Having visited today, I am really pleased to give a much more positive view. Today the home smelt clean and fresh. Staff on the wards were very nice with a "good morning" which never happened before. My aunt was up and
dressed which was never the case. There seems to be many more staff, all busy seeing to residents. She had a meal while we were there and very different from the poor quality that used to be served up, this was greatly improved food, looked very appetising and a good amount. So I would like to say thank you to all the staff and management. Such a real improvement. Please keep up the high standard you've achieved.
Reply from philip Klor, RM at Springfield Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to write the review. The whole team at Springfield really appreciate this positive feedback, as we continue working together to provide a high standard of care to all of our residents.

Overall good experience but not enough staff or carers. Most of the time found a shortage of staff. Overworking carers but whoever was on duty were very polite and courteous, helping and caring. Management seems to be working hard to provide good care. Management and assistant managers were very cooperative
and positive.

The service supplied by this care home was extremely poor. Safety is totally unacceptable, not very clean, people left in wheelchairs all day long. Carers take a lot to be desired, always absent from lounge where residents were left in wheelchairs. The staff have totally no compassion to family. I could
go on forever.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.298)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.298) out of 10 for Springfield Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.485 for Springfield Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (143 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 198 Ratings = 4.485
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.813 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield Care Centre is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
