Oak Park Care Home

from Claire B (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 5 May 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Since we moved my father-in-Law to Oak park Care Home, in his best interests, as he had been found outside wandering at all hours where he lived alone before, and was not safe, he has been treated with dignity and respect, and the care has been fantastic. Myself and his son had been his primary Carers,
seeing him sometimes 3-4 times day and night, for months due to his deterioration in his health previously at his old address, but we feel so reassured knowing he is being looked after so well there, and they are doing everything they can to help him settle in well. He is eating and drinking well, and sleeping so much better, and in a better routine, and is socialising, and seeing more people than he has done in months. We love that he is so close to us so we can continue to see him every day, and our 5yr old loves to go to the Care home and see his Grandad and all the other residents there too. It really is a lovely place, we have no concerns, and appreciate everything the staff do.

Oak park have been welcoming and caring towards my Dad, and have acted as an advocate for him from the start. We live close but can always ring, and they will put him on loudspeaker for us to talk to him. Unfortunately they have had to deal with my 'Absent' Sibling who lives 200 miles away from my Dad,
and who doesn't help with his daily cares, but criticises me (his primary carer/ NOK) and my decision to move him into respite, in his best interests, and for his safety.
Oak park have always followed policy and procedure and taken advice from the police and social services when needed. They continue to give professional and fantastic care to my Dad despite all the added issues that have been caused. Dad has eaten/ drank better, his sleep has improved, he is joining in with activities, and is getting much more social interaction too. Can't thank them enough and would recommend them if you're thinking of making the difficult decision like we did but most importantly he is safe now there

Oak Park Care Home

I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the care my father is receiving at Oak park care home/bond care. Specifically, there was an incident involving a cut on my father's elbow. Unfortunately, the regional manager did not follow up with me as promised. Despite assurances that I would
be contacted by email, I received no communication, nor was an incident report created. This lack of follow-through is deeply concerning, as it directly impacts both my father's safety and my trust in the care provided. I request that this matter be escalated to the Care Commissioning Group so that it can be properly investigated and addressed. I expect a prompt response outlining the steps that will be taken.
Reply from Sam Chontow, Regional Manager at Oak Park Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We are sorry to hear you feel let down and understand how important it is for families to feel confident in their loved one's care. We would like to reassure you that we have been in regular contact with the relevant agencies involved in your father's care, including the Care Quality Commission and Social Care Team, and will continue working closely with them to support his wellbeing.

Our team has maintained communication with your family through telephone calls and a scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting, where updates and actions were discussed openly.

We apologise if any part of our follow up did not meet your expectations. It is never our intention for anyone to feel unheard. We remain committed to addressing your concerns and keeping all parties informed.

As we cannot discuss individual details publicly, we will continue to speak with you directly to review this matter fully and ensure you feel supported.

As soon as I visited Sycamore Park I knew straight away that it was the care home that I wanted my wife to stay, and every day since then has left me in no doubt that it was the right decision. The home is clean and tidy, the chef does a brilliant job with the food and they provide activities both morning
and afternoons everyday, but their biggest asset is their staff, they are absolutely fantastic, you can tell that by the way they treat residents, and relations more like friends. They go the extra mile for special occasions like birthdays, valentines day etc. Cannot praise them high enough, they give me peace of mind in their care for my wife.

My mum has been at Sycamore Care Home for nearly 5 years, during this time her health had gradually worsened due to her medical condition but throughout this period Sycamore Care Home managed the situation with care, compassion and ensuring mum had dignity at all times.
Mum always had a smile on her
face and never stayed in her room during the day as there was constant companionship from fellow residents and carers. Lots of activities too.
During the time at Sycamore we have created many lovely memories.
I genuinely don't think mum would have lasted as long as she did, without the care package put in place which Sycamore were a key part of.
When every I mentioned Sycamore Park to external medical staff, such as SALT, Dementia Nurse etc. They always had a glowing view of the care home, which as health professionals was very satisfying to hear and simply re enforced my own view of them.
In the final weeks of mums life, not enough words of appreciate can be given, they were Fantastic.
Reply from Coral Abrahams, Home Manager at Sycamore Park Care HomeThank you for such a lovely review - this means a lot to me and the team here. Mum was such a huge part of our Sycamore Park family, a big character with an even bigger heart! We will never forget her, her cheeky grin or her outrageous challenges she set me and the team - it really was a true privilege to care for her.

Myself and my family feel that my brother is now in a place where he is safe, feels secure and receives the best physical and mental care that can be provided, by staff who take the time to encourage and know my brothers needs. Mum was a resident in Willow Park for a little over 3 years. Every time we visited, she was comfortable, clean and tidy. The personal care was performed with kindness and dignity. As time went on, we noticed mum became happier through the care, companionship and friendliness of the staff. She had complex

The warmest of welcomes is always on offer at this remarkable care home. Prior to arrival Dad had gone through a difficult time. So it was of paramount importance that he felt loved, valued and cared for. Sycamore Park staff were understanding, discerning and supportive especially throughout those

I've visited my father numerous times during the day and evening. The staff have all been friendly and chatty. Whenever we've needed support for Dad they've been there for him. He has regular checks, his room is cleaned regularly. Staff engage with him and treat him with respect. Management are friendly
and willing to listen and act upon any given feedback. My only negative is his food can be cold when delivered, unsure how this can be changed as the kitchen is downstairs. I can see improvements in the home everytime I visit. I'm happy Dad is in the right home, it gives me peace of mind. Food is plenty and choice good, just needs to be hotter if hot food. I've marked satisfactory for food and drink - this is due to hot food getting delivered cold. I think Dad has plenty of choice everyday and snacks plus his favourite biscuits.
I think its excellent how the wing Dad is on is taking into account his needs like the busy boards and re-decorating. Its a work in progress and a step in the right direction.
Staff and management really listen to feedback and act upon it so thank you from me.

I can only thank the team at Sycamore Park for the excellent care given to my late father David. David had been living with Altzimers in the final years of his life. They provided amazing care and made the final period of his life so much better for him. I would like to give a very special thank you
to Corel, Lisa, Katie, Sarah, Alex and the rest of the team in the Buckingham Suite for exemplifying the very best care which can be offered. There was a good atmosphere from the moment we walked in the building, this gave the family the confidence for David to stay, it started with a two week period at the beginning and David soon settled in. He would always look forward to his meals. David's friends and family were always made to feel welcome. We were often offered a cup of tea while we were there which was always welcome.
Sycamore Park Care Home is a credit to Corel, Lisa and all the team. Once again thank you guys, it's the people who make the difference not a building.
Kindest Mike

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We moved dad to Birch Park from another care home, so we can compare the standard of care that he got from Birch Park. From the minute we went to look round until his final days we cannot emphasise how well looked after he was, and how well looked after we were as a family. The staff, at all levels,
were exemplary in their care, and knew us all, not just as dad's family but as individuals. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and they treated him, and us, with compassion and respect throughout his stay and especially in his final days. Dad spent his last hours at Birch Park and they treated him and us with dignity and kindness that was second to none. As a family we can 100% recommend Birch Park. It really was home from home and he was very settled and happy there. Heartfelt thanks to every member of staff, you all made a difficult time so much easier.
