Southwell Court Care Home - the United Nations of Kindness. In July 2025 my father moved into Southwell Court on a respite care basis to give my wife and I the opportunity to get away for a holiday. And, soon after we returned, Dad told us that he had decided that he liked it so much he wanted to stay on a permanent basis. Having lived alone for over two years after Mum died, he enjoyed the company, the activities, the food, and most of all the way he was looked after by the ever-kind staff members whatever their main job happened to be. Needless to say the care home team come from all over the world, but all share the same guiding belief in looking after the residents in the most helpful, friendly and compassionate way possible with everyone pulling in the same direction. Finally, we are very grateful that Dad was able to spend his last days in such a friendly and caring environment and we can't praise Southwell Court highly enough.

I can't express enough how brilliant Southwell Court Care home has been with John and the family - from the beginning of his stay almost a year ago to his passing last weekend.
He enjoyed home cooked meals (sometimes with a glass of wine) and many of the activities which involved music such as the services, the Caterpillar group ( with pre school children) and Karaoke.
The staff showed kindness, compassion and importantly listened and respected his decisions.

I can't recommend enough !

My mother was admitted to Southwell Court earlier this year with dementia. The management and staff have been amazing. Mum is on the minster floor (nursing), and I am delighted with the care she is being given. After looking after mum myself over the years, I was really worried about the situation (mum going into a home), but very quickly this changed, and now I feel very relaxed and also reassured.

Your Mother is very dear to us and an extraordinary woman, you have been so kind to our staff, even presenting one with flowers which meant the world to her. Thank you for being so good to us all. Thank you also for this lovely review and if you need anything at all please let us know

We have been impressed by this care home- my wife had a difficult start when moving there in January, but the manager and staff have worked hard, and with sensitivity to help her settle. Any care home has to accommodate residents with a wide range of preferences and requirements. Southwell Court manages this balance very well. The staff are great, the home is well managed and the food and activities are excellent.

My wife was a resident at Southwell Court for a short time in an end of life situation. Although my wife was only in the home for 12 days before she died she was treated with care and compassion. The attention to detail of my wife's needs was outstanding. The professionalism of the staff at all levels was first class. The management responded instantly to all my requests and in my opinion this care home is of an exceptionally high standard- I cannot praise them highly enough. The manager led by example, was available out of normal hours, and was worshipped by his staff- a born leader.

Mum needed more care than one live in carer could provide. It was heart-wrenching to place mum in Southwell Court. It has been a very good experience. Mum has become strong physically, her mental decline is not better, however, stimulation daily by the home entertainment team has helped her. She seems very happy and maybe has gained a little weight too! A very positive experience, even though it's hard to do for us.

What a lovely review, your wonderful mother is one of the first people I went out to meet when starting here so is very special to me. I have just seen her walking with staff not 5 minutes ago and am so impressed at her determination to keep up her mobility. I really appreciate you taking time out to fill this out for us. Thank you

The chef made an amazing birthday cake for our mum (as she does for every resident) On the big day mum was absolutely thrilled with the cake which was decorated to reflect her love of gardening. Mum really enjoyed tea and cake with family and friends in the afternoon. We are very grateful for everyone's hard work to make this a special day for mum.

We are very happy that we chose Southwell Court for mum. The carers go above and beyond when looking after her with so much kindness and great attention paid to her individual needs. We have got to know many of the staff well during this time, it feels like one big family. We have been shown love and compassion, along with friendship and humour. We have felt blessed on several occasions when special dates have received a surprise celebration. We appreciate Soutwell Court very much and are hugely grateful for all the care they bestow on mum.

What makes Southwell Court is the staff. Mum has been in the home 6 weeks now and has settled better than we could have imagined. This is entirely down to the time staff take to listen to residents and family in order to get the best for the residents. Mum says that everyone is kind and l have felt supported and reassured when trying to get the best for Mum whilst living abroad. Staff team - you really are doing a great job and making a positive difference to lots of people's lives. Thank you.

I was very reluctant to put my mum in a home as anybody would be, she has been in this home for a year now and settled straight away, it's home from home for my mum and I could not be happier. The staff are very caring and the activities here are brilliant. I myself feel very relaxed and happy when I visit my mum, it's like one big family.

Can't thank the wonderful staff of Southwell Court enough. Kind, compassionate, respectful of dignity, fun, caring, upbeat but sympathetic when needed - 10/10. Care home is clean to a high standard, food lovely, regular tea, coffee and cake! I know my mum is well looked after, can't ask for more. Lots of lovely activities but also no pressure, nice spaces to watch the world go by and lovely garden. Highly recommend. Top floor being refurbished so can see investment!

A pleasant and friendly atmosphere exists, smiling and helpful staff. The rooms are tidy, clean and homely. Residents seem happy, relaxed and some are pleased to engage in banter with the staff. A tidy yet interesting garden enables all to access it. The interaction with herbs is good and needs to be encouraged. It feels safe and secure as one enters the building.
