My Mother, who had dementia, came to live here in 2009 aged 90 after one night's trial stay (having already rejected two other residential homes after one visit). She settled in quickly and told me she felt safe and had no worries living here (she had previously lived in her own home and become nervous and isolated). I found the staff to be very good, most of them caring and attentive to her needs , quickly achieving a rapport with her. She died in April 2015 and for the last 6 weeks was bedfast, not eating and barely drinking. We were very impressed with the care she received; although it was impossible for staff to be with her all the time, when they came to wash,change,turn her etc they were always kind, gentle and loving and we felt the care was as good as we could have given. My sister commented that the staff really did give her TLC (tender, loving care). Obviously a residential home has its drawbacks and especially if you are deaf and have dementia so cannot easily interact with other residents but as far as staff were concerned we felt our Mother was cared for very well.
