Alexander Court Care Centre

from J S (Niece of Resident) published on 3 December 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
We regularly visit my aunt following her decision to remain at Alexander Court after previously having spent some time in hospital after a fall.
She is comfortable and content with her new home, and when we visit, she is relaxed and is well fed, and treated respectfully by the staff. We see that she
is well-liked, and the staff always make us feel welcome. We are happy that she is well looked after. We would wish she had more interaction with other residents, but because she is bed-bound, this is not possible.

Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I was very apprehensive on my father having to go into a home, but he moved in to fern gardens last December 2024 and I can seriously say that my mind was at rest,
What ever time of day we turn up to visit my father the home is clean all staff are very friendl and will always speak to us if we have
any concerns or need any updates on his health or medication.
My father can be very challenging at times but know that he is always well looked after so feel happy to leave him with his carer who is looking after him.
He has been on a number of outings, which I'm sure he has enjoyed as the photos that are put on the website show how much fun they are having.
Reply from Harry Inglis, RM at Fern Gardens Care Home

Moorland Gardens Care Home

from Maggie B (Stepdaughter of Resident) published on 27 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
What can I say about Moorlands ? Just perfect. My stepfather went to Moorlands September 2023 transferred from another care home who no longer could meet his needs. I will never be able to praise the management and staff enough , for the exceptional care that he received until he passed last week just
before his 91st birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Entertainment was plenty for those that wanted to join which he did until finally he was unable to and became very frail and bedridden. The dedication never waivered but increased as his needs grew. One particular staff member would often sing to him. He had a lovely comfortable room that was always spotless whatever the time of day we visited, he was always washed shaved and in clean clothes also. It gave the family peace of mind that he was being well cared for, well fed and bedding and clothes always spotless. The family of Charles Sinclair cannot praise Moorlands enough and would certainly recommend.

Our mum went to live at Willow Park home in February 2024 due to a deterioration in her dementia, and the difficulties for us, as mum lived miles away. Now she is local to me. From entry on she settled in well. The care she continues to receive is 1st class from everything to her needs, personal care,
cleanliness of her room, laundry. Mum is still able to enjoy many of the activities provided. The home is warm and welcoming to us as a family and we know that mum is very much part of the Willow Park family. She always seems happy when we visit.

Excellent staff, truley care for the patients. The staff are very accomadating and flexible for visitors as we have our committments. They are polite and thankful for the visits making it a warm experience. They are attentive and really have a hospitality mindset. They work as a team and solve problems
really well..without a fuss.
Almost all staff are young and work with a mission in their hearts.

Elton Hall has a warm, friendly vibe, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Mum feels the food and laundry are excellent, having explored eleven similar care homes. I personally feel that I would enjoy living at Elton Hall should the need arise. Thank you!

Larchwood House

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My mum was moved to Larchwood from hospital for end of life care. The room she was put in was next to the stairs and everyone who came up let the door go and it banged shut everytime. Not the peaceful environment you need at the end of life. We were told that an airflow mattress would be available for
her. This was not put on her bed until we requested this but by then she had already been there a week. As she had oesophageal cancer, she was only eating soft foods. After a BBQ in the grounds she was offered a burger for lunch! If we were visiting at meal times, the staff would leave the food on the table for us to feed her (she'd had a stroke and was unable to feed herself) after we moved her out the staff 'lost' a lot of her clothes and personal items, which have never been returned despite several emails to the manager. I would not recommend this care home to anyone and wish we had moved her out sooner!

Accommodation/ rooms are first class, cleaned and maintained regularly. Upon arrival staff assessed my needs and were on hand for anything that arose - 24/7. Totally impressed with the whole experience - much needed at a point where I could not deal with day to day needs on my own.
Highly recommend
this facility. Staff - nurses + carers first rate - friendly and approachable - nothing is too much trouble. First rate!

This care home has improved considerably over the last 12 months. The facilities provided for the residents has improved and also the responsiveness to dealing with issues have greatly improved. The residents are encouraged to participate in activities by the activities manager and singalongs are great
to hear. The annual Barbecue was a great success with all the staff participated in. Keep Up the good work.

Moorland Gardens Care Home

From the outside Moorland Gardens Care Home may not be the most plush care home you have visited but inside the care in this home is simply outstanding.

Debbie, the manager and her wonderful staff have cared for our frail father with dedicated care and compassion. He was admitted with serious bed

sores and was underweight, but after 7 weeks - now that he is to be discharged to a permanent nursing home nearer his home town, his weight has increased and his bed sores have nearly healed and never got reinfected due to the expert nursing care he received at Moorland.

My family and I couldn't have asked for any better care than our father received at Moorland. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursing home which has given our family peace of mind that our father is getting the very best care possible. Thank you so much to the amazing staff at Moorland

My sister was really sad to leave her lovely home after 40 years of happy memories, but, now after 12 months of now living at Rose Lodge, this morning she said she is both happy and lucky to be there, she has never been a mixer, but the staff treat her nice, I visit her every week and we have a lovely
time talking of the happy times we had looking at old photos, we even have a sing song together, at 95 what more could you ask for.

My mother has been @ Birch Park for 6mths now. From the moment of walking through door we have felt wonderful warmth & friendliness from everyone. The home is clean. The food is excellent. Loads of activities every week. When it was mum's Birthday, they went above & beyond to make it special for her
& us! Mum is now settled & happy and very well cared for. We couldn't ask for a more wonderful place for her. Thank you Birch Park!
