I honestly can not find fault with County Homes, the manager and the staff without their love, support and care for my dad, I don't know what I would do, every single member of staff I can see genuinely do care and love dad like their own. Nothing is ever too much trouble, Dad can be a handful, but
I have never heard any of them raise their voice or anything, they are all so lovely with him & are always there to support me also, which means the world to me! The only thing I would say would be to have more activities for the patients.

The staff that I have met are caring concerned patient and attentive. They listen to relatives when discussing the needs of their loved ones. I feel confident that my brother is in safe hands and am happy knowing that the staff will notify us of anything that requires attention regarding his care if
we need to be informed.

My husband's transfer from hospital was delayed because of ill health. When he finally made it, the staff were superb and he settled in really well. I received daily updates until I could visit. He had stopped eating in hospital but was happy to eat at County Homes, with assistance.
I visited him
2 days after he moved in, he was deep in conversation with another resident and seemed very happy and settled.
Sadly, he didn't get to enjoy his new home for long. Ten days after arriving he developed another chest infection (he suffered from chronic fibrosis) and the staff kept me informed every step of the way. It had been agreed that he wasn't to be re-admitted to hospital so the staff administered medication to him. They kept him warm and comfortable and he received excellent medical care. I was so sad when he died suddenly but he could not have been with kinder or more caring people.
What an amazing home - all care homes should aspire to this standard. Superb!

My husband has Alzheimer's. It was very hard for me to admit that I could no longer cope with him at home. Placing him in care was really upsetting. He moved into York at County Homes in January. A staff member handled his arrival with great care and sensitivity, making him welcome and settling him
in comfortably. She kept me informed how he was doing while he settled in. When I visited him for the first time, he appeared so relaxed and happy it was like a miracle. All my fears and the terrible stories you hear about care homes were forgotten. The agitation he showed constantly at home seemed almost gone. All the staff I have met so far seem friendly and caring and happy to see me and to help in any way. The different security codes for 3 doors to get out convinced me that he was secure and safe. The most important thing of all, thanks to the great efforts of the team is that he looks happy again. Thank you all.

I have visited my great uncle on multiple occasions and the staff have always been extremely accommodating for us as we usually visit with 3-5 of us with one being in a wheelchair. My great uncle has never looked as healthy as he does now, we are extremely happy with the service that has been provided
for him. I work in nursing myself and know signs to look for of poor care and I have absolutely no concerns for here! My great uncle has made requests that only certain people can visit and the home always check who we are on arrival ensuring the safety of my uncle, it did take two or three requests from the family to put this in place but since we submitted in writing it’s been done! Which I am extremely pleased with. The staff are extremely friendly and he seems happy with all of them. The place is always clean and tidy when we go and smells fresh. I’ve not seen my uncle look this happy, settled and healthy in many years! So a huge thanks to the home as I know my uncle is a cheeky chappy but you have been amazing with him!

It has been a pleasure to see the improvements in my brother-in-law since his residency in County Homes. The residential nursing home is the finest I have ever visited and the staff have given a great deal of help in getting my brother-in-law settled and looking much better than when he was accepted.
Well done!

Pleased with the care given to my brother after he returned to the care home after his operation. He had stopped eating and they encouraged him to eat and drink, giving him the time and care needed. They allowed us to visit over mealtimes, most days, so we could assist too. It took weeks to get him
to eat, drink and take his meds properly but the staff seemed very patient and they are polite and friendly.

The staff are always very friendly and look after Mum very well. The home is clean and Mum's room is nice. You seem to have a lot of changes to staff, this is something that I have noticed recently. A regular update from the nurse would be nice, maybe monthly just to keep the family updated.

My sister-in-law was admitted to the care home about four years ago with vascular dementia. The family had looked at several other facilities and County Homes Care Home suited both the family and my sister in laws needs. During her stay, she has been treated very well and the staff have been most helpful.
We cannot thank you enough for the support you have given and we would recommend the home to anyone requiring similar treatment.

My mum is very well cared for at the care home. The staff are very attentive to her needs. They laugh and joke with her and encourage her to talk and sing. She says she is very fortunate to live there and I wholeheartedly agree. A big thank you to all the staff.

My husband has been at this home for two and three-quarter years and has been well looked after in this time. The staff have always been very friendly and supportive of his needs. I felt that Covid deprived us of continuing contact during this period but the staff have tried to keep him safe and well,
especially recently. His end-of-life care was exceptional and I can't praise the staff for the effort they put into his care and support for me personally.

My husband has been in the home since September 2020. Very pleased with care - staff really considerate and friendly. Wonderful with my husband. Unfortunately, he isn't able to leave room now, so it's hard for me to judge level of activities. Communication with management slightly difficult over visits
during Covid. My family comment that they would prefer more online communication.

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your lovely, positive comments on our staff team; we know they work really hard to deliver kind, quality care during these ongoing difficult times. We are sorry to hear however that communication with the home has fallen short of our expected standards and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will request the Home Manager contact you as a matter of priority on her return from leave so that she can address these concerns and communicate with your family and you in a manner of your choosing.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.010)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.010) out of 10 for County Homes Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.610 for County Homes Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.61
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for County Homes Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
