Due to the significant neglect he experienced in the past at the hands of other services, rebuilding trust was a challenge for all of us. However, the manager, his colleagues, and the wider staff at Needwood House approached this with unwavering transparency, integrity, respect, and honesty. Their consistent and compassionate care has not only brought peace and stability to his life, but has also made a world of difference to our family as a whole.
We are incredibly grateful for everything the team has done-and continues to do-to ensure he is safe, respected, and thriving.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the care being provided to your uncle at Needwood House and that you feel he has improved since being here. I will be sure to pass your kind words onto the team.
My husband has been a resident at this wonderful care home for 15 months. After a terrible previous experience with a care home we were very dubious but we couldn't highly recommend Needwood care home more. The care they give my husband is beyond amazing. Every visit he is always in clean clothes, hair cut, nails trimmed, the list is endless on how well he is looked after. All the staff are fantastic and go above and beyond even on his bad days! They have thrown him a 90th birthday party for family and we have celebrated our 70th wedding anniversary too, nothing is ever too much trouble.Thank you for all you do for myself, my husband and the family.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we really appreciate it. I will pass your kind words onto the team. I am pleased to hear you are happy with the care your husband is receiving and also with the support you receive yourself from our staff. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the celebration parties too!
My father has been a resident here for over 3 years and he couldn't receive better care anywhere else. The entire team at Needwood clearly genuinely make every effort to ensure his needs are met. He's always well turned out and beautifully dressed. Detailed thought goes into his care to ensure he's comfortable, well looked after and happy. As a relative I'm always made to feel welcome and very much part of the team. Thank you everyone at Needwood for everything you do and all the extra miles you go for your residents.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the care your Father is receiving. We appreciate your kind words and I will be sure to pass this onto the team.
All the staff are very attentive and caring. Their connection with my wife is as my wife is a relative, very close and caring. The home itself communicates regarding any movement in my wife's condition and or medication. I am very relaxed that my wife is receiving the care she deserves.
We appreciate you taking the time to complete a review for us. the staff will be very happy to know that you feel relaxed and are happy with the care that your wife receives at Needwood.I will pass this onto the staff.
My father in law was admitted into Needwood last year. He went into restpite and it came apparent, they could not cope with his challenging behavious. He was moved to Needwood, where straight away we could see a difference. His behaviours stayed challenging but they got to know him and us as a family. We visit regularly and speak regularly with the home. They keep us upto date with everything that is going on. We also recently had to go through a challengin process to secure my father in laws funding and they were very supportive and helpful. They explained processes to us etc which was helpful as it was a very stressful process. My father in law is very settled here and as a family we would not wnat him anywhere else. The support and 121 care he gets is excellent and lovely to see how friendly the team are with him and he smiles with them and seems happy. this gives us some peace of mind. We are extremely grateful to the team.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this very positive review, we are glad that you all as a family are happy with your dads care and support, and that you have peace of mind, I will pass this on to the whole team.
My Dad was admitted to Needwood House when it became clear that his previous home could not manage his challenging behaviour. Right from the start we as a family felt reassured that he was cared for as an individual and that he was safe. He's been completely reassessed and is much more engaged and involved in day to day life. The carers are fantastic and we feel that they're genuinely interested in Dad's life and really want to know how to make him happy. His care is tailored to him, he just looks more like my Dad than he has done for ages, I can't thank everyone enough for what they're doing. It means so much, particularly when I live so far away. I feel that this is the high level of care and kindness that everyone deserves. This is not an easy job for anyone to do, and I'm very grateful that you all turn up with humour, kindness and respect. Thank you also for the lovely photos of Dad's trips to the park and activities, it's wonderful to know that he's enjoying these

My brother was a service user and I also work in mental health, so I know this can be very challenging. When visiting my brother I personally have had no issues and they cared for my brother with dignity and respect. The manager was always on hand if I was concerned about anything and addressed it immediately. The staff are caring. The nurses kept me informed of any health problems my brother was facing between visits. My brother was comfortable there and seam settled in himself. Thank you to all the team keep up the good work. X

Month. The staff made him feel loved, he was taken out on trips as well as the organised events at the home.sadly he died in February 2025 and will be missed.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your relative. We appreciate all feedback and we are so pleased to hear your experience of Needwood House was so positive. Delighted to hear after a few weeks, with the love and support of our dedicated team your relative was once again enjoying life and feeling at home.
Near the end they made sure Dad was comfortable and there was always someone with him, even when he passed there was always someone with him. I thought that was very respectful.
Thank you for all you have done, your brought the man i knew as my Dad back. Albeit for a short time.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt review. The team at Needwood are delighted to receive such positive feedback and to understand the impact their care and support had for your dad and the family. It was such an honour to be part of dad's life and to make a difference.
Our relative came to the home as an emergency admission several miles away from his usual residency and as a result of hospital discharge and the need to find a suitably resourced and compatible environment as our relative had unfortunately developed several complexities resulting in a need for accommodation with a lift and additional resource to manage 1:1 needs. During the short time that our relative lived in the home we saw a glimmer of the old person we knew prior to him becoming unwell. The attentiveness of staff at Needwood and the pro-activeness across the frontline and management made it so easy to communicate and feel still part of our relative's life and progress. You all worked hard to build his strength back up, he began to eat and drink regularly and he remained calm as well as engaging around the home with the kindness and support of the whole team. Personalised care and support is evident and the knowledge of needs is very clear. On behalf of us all, we sincerely thank you all for your compassion.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is so appreciated and we are all delighted that the commitment and care shown by our dedicated team had such a positive impact on your uncle's wellbeing.
My dad was transferred to Needwood House in February 2018 from hospital due to having a brain haemorrhage. At the start of our journey here, it was clear that the staff genuinely cared for each resident's well-being. Dad was a handful, being aggressive and just walking about aimlessly and was very hard to look after but the expertise of the carers was second to none. I always felt that the staff showed compassion and patience, as they stayed with Dad, they were not 'in his face', they just walked around with him to make sure he was safe. The staff consistently demonstrated professionalism while going above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and dignified. The home is clean, well maintained and this last year has had a makeover due to being taken over from a different provider. The management team were approachable and attentive to any queries or concerns I raised. I would recommend Needwood and I could not be more grateful for what they did for my dad. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your feedback. We take our responsibility for the care of our residents very seriously, so it means the world to us that you felt assured that your loved one was well cared for. We will pass along your feedback to our team, and I'm sure they will deeply appreciate your thoughtful message.
But my son has always enjoyed his own space and freedom. His paranoia kicks in when there's loud noises. He objects to the ever presence of 1 to 1s and regularly shouts, "I want to come home."
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We deeply appreciate it. We understand that this can sometimes be a challenging process, and we strive to support families every step of the way. We will be sure to share your feedback with our team.
From the first day when we went to look around we got this instant feeling everything was going to be ok now, socially he is never in his room. We even joke we need to get him a diary for our visits.
He is so happy now and the change in him is so warming to see, we no longer worry if we can not get in to see him as we know he is just fine and has plenty of company.
We could not even begin to name staff who go above and beyond because every single staff member does, they are so warm and welcoming they really are amazing. They have so much care for every single resident.
We could go on and on about how amazing this home is, there are not enough words to express how much love there is all under one roof.
My biggest regret is not finding them sooner. Thank you. very happy relatives.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Your kind words mean the world to everyone here at Needwood House. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and working closely with their families to make the journey with Needwood House as smooth as possible. We'll be sure to share your feedback with our dedicated team.
All the staff do an excellent job of caring for my mum both physically and mentally. The home is first class, my mum has been there for nearly two years now and we have no faults at all keep up the good work and thank you all for being so caring and understanding with everyone’s individual needs.
We deeply care for each resident who chooses to make our community their home. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us, and we will be sure to pass it along to our dedicated team.
Previous experience of the care homes Dad had been in was poor so when he was offered a place at Needwood, we were sceptical. We had no need to be concerned. The team were warm, caring and considerate of Dad's needs and challenges. The team treated Dad with the dignity he deserved. Whenever we visited they welcomed us and ensured our visit was positive, if only Dad had been there a little longer.
I would recommend Needwood House to any family who are offered a place for their loved one.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review for us; feedback from the relatives of our residents means everything to us and I’ll pass your comments on to our team. We are dedicated to treating everyone with dignity and respect, we wish he had been with us longer too. We hope you are doing ok. From all of the team at Needwood House.
This home has been our saving grace! I’m writing this review because, when Dad was being transferred to this home from hospital in January 2023, there were no recent reviews to read and, as his daughter, I was worried. I had absolutely no reason to be anxious because this home is amazing on all levels. Dad was placed in this home having spent 12 months in hospital with Caspa2 autoimmune encephalitis, a condition which causes swelling of the brain and symptoms similar to dementia. He was very confused, overwhelmed and violent. The home manager assured me they could meet his needs and, oh my goodness, she wasn’t wrong. In the 2 months that he has been at Needwood House he has completely transformed. The staff are all wonderful, pleasant and smiley. Dad raves about the food and is in love with the cook! We are always made to feel welcome during visiting and are happy that dad’s needs are being met. He always looks smart and well kept and we could not be more grateful. Thank you Needwood
Thank you very much for your review. I will pass your lovely words onto the team
As relatives, we are treated as part of an extended family, welcomed by name when we arrive and the care team have built a rapport with both Dad and us. We cannot fault the level of care he is given, always plenty of carers on hand, medical needs attended to and any issues raised with the home resolved quickly. We have been able to personalise his room, have planted a pot which sits by his favourite window seat and the home are allowing us to celebrate Mom and Dad's Golden Wedding at the home with friends and family. We would recommend Needwood to anyone who is facing having to entrust their loved one into the care of others!
I always find him clean and smart, always with a carer nearby.
He has been taken out on various trips/excursions.
He had sepsis at one point and it was spotted immediately. He was taken to hospital and I was informed quickly. The hospital staff were very impressed.
The staff all seem to be 'on the ball' and I think this comes from good leadership.
I have peace of mind that all of his needs are being met and wouldn't want him anywhere else despite the fact that I live 30 miles away.
My mother has been a resident here for 2 years and has severe dementia. During her time here her condition has deteriorated but the care that she has received has been wonderful. She is treated with dignity and with respect and although her behaviour can be challenging her needs are always thought of first. We had to move her from her previous care home due to poor standards and this is the best decision we ever made. The staff are always pleasant and welcoming and we feel totally satisfied in the knowledge that she is safe and settled.
We moved my mother here from her previous care home as her dementia has deteriorated and during her time here she seems a lot more settled. Her needs have been taken care of and she is always treated well. The staff show her respect and treat her with dignity even though her behaviour can be very challenging at times. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and they are always pleasant and happy when you visit.
