Having worked in a similar environment to Needwood during the past, mom believes that she is at work and loves to ‘help’ when she feels up to it. The staff (nurses, carers/activities, laundry/cleaning and kitchen) are all wonderful; with mom and with us when we visit. All staff are friendly, some going above and beyond their duties.
My husband, sister and I viewed approximately ten care homes during December 2018 and my Aunt (mom’s sister) is of the opinion that we could not have found anywhere better.
Mom has been at Needwood since December 2018. The standard of care is extremely good and the staff can be approached at any time during visits, to ask questions or raise any that would make mom's daily life more comfortable. There are activities and residents are free to walk around. There are several rooms for mom to sit in with different views of the garden and interaction is encouraged for those residents able to. Food and drink is readily available. The care home has the feeling of being just that, a home.
As an agency health care worker who has worked in various other care home settings Needwood Care home has impressed me by their high standard level of care. The dedication and commitment from staff and management is admirable. One place I do not hesitate to go back and be part of again and again. Well done for your commitment to patient care.
As her health deteriorated she was always well looked after, and she recovered from a stoke amazingly thanks to the care and support she was given. In December a chest infection took hold and despite multiple courses of antibiotics she faded away. She was looked after wonderfully and had a peaceful and dignified death with famiily at her side. The feeling that we could totally trust the staff to look after her meant that a difficult time was made bearable and we had energy to look after my Dad.
Amazing caring staff. Nothing was too much trouble. My grandfather received nothing but the best care and utmost respect. He passed away in Needwood and the family were cared for and treated for wonderfully. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
The care and encouragement that my mother has received at Needwood House has been excellent and has greatly improved her quality of life. The carers are very interactive with all the residents and make sure that atmosphere is calm and pleasant. All the staff, including those doing cooking and laundry, are happy to be with the residents - my mother likes to walk around chatting and 'helping', and their gentle humour and kindness are a pleasure. The home itself is kept warm and spotlessly clean. My mother takes pleasure in eating and drinking, and the meals are very appetising, and snacks available day and night. In terms of personal care, they do everything to keep her as well as possible, in some trying circumstances - she is always wearing clean clothes that are right for the weather and circumstances, for example, and change dressings with gentle persuasion. We as a family feel fortunate that my mother is here, and the family is included in the support that is offered.
My mum is currently a resident in Needwood House and has wonderful care from the staff. She is always treated with dignity and receives lots of attention when required. The staff are lovely with my mum and even when she is having a "difficult" day they know exactly how to keep her calm and always have a gentle manner with her. My mum's room is spacious and modern and always very clean. She enjoys the food of which there is always lots of choices.
