I cannot speak highly enough about the care my father receives in this care home.Dad has been here for over 18 months after moving from another care home. All the staff are compassionate and go above and beyond to ensure his comfort, dignity and wellbeing. The staff are highly professional and always
treat us with kindness and keep us informed and involved with all aspects of dad's care. The home itself is always clean and smelling fresh and welcoming, there is entertainment and everyone is welcomed to join in.
I am just so grateful for everything you do, Thank you doesn't seem enough.

My very dear friend has now been a resident at Talbot House for three years. She is extremely happy, healthy and content there. This, as I have said before, is due to the brilliant care and support shown to her and all the other residents. The Talbot House team are excellent and provide a fantastic
home life for them all. I call it a home as that is what it is for the residents it is their home. The regular festivities, shows and singers all play a great part. Some kind of activity takes place every day keeping them entertained. I get a wonderful and very happy feeling every time I walk through the door. I have been shown around the newly completed extension which is a very welcome addition to Talbot House. The fact that they have been shortlisted for another award speaks for itself. Well done Talbot House team and a big thank you.
Reply from Dr Vivek Gupta, CEO at Talbot HouseThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a lot to the whole team at Talbot House.
We are delighted to hear that your friend is happy, healthy and feels at home with us - that is exactly what we strive to achieve every single day. Our team work incredibly hard to create a safe, caring and engaging environment, so it's wonderful to see that reflected in your experience.
We're especially pleased that you've noticed the activities, atmosphere and our recent extension - we're always looking for ways to improve and enhance life for our residents.
Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to share your feedback. It genuinely motivates our team to continue delivering the highest standards of care.

This care home provides an exceptionally high standard of care within a genuinely warm and welcoming environment. There is a strong family feel, where residents are known as individuals and treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Staff are consistently attentive, compassionate, and responsive,
nothing is ever too much trouble, and care is delivered with patience and genuine warmth.
The home offers a rich and varied programme of activities, ensuring residents remain socially engaged and included. Seasonal celebrations such as Halloween & Christmas, along with national and significant events including royal weddings, are thoughtfully planned and inclusive, involving residents, families, and friends alike. These occasions foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
Quality of food is outstanding, with careful attention paid to individual likes, dislikes, and dietary needs. Meals are clearly prepared with care, and residents are supported to enjoy food as a meaningful event.

My mum was a resident of Talbot House for almost two years. During this time she had numerous health issues which were well dealt with. The home is very professional, staff are also caring + respectful. My mum could be a handful at times. She struggled with losing her home and independence. The home
involve as many residents as possible in the events etc. The food is good. I can't praise the home enough for their care of my mum. Especially towards the end.

Love Talbot House Care Home. Staff are lovely and friendly, always chatting to you and the residents. Lovely and clean, the food is outstanding, if a resident fancies something different the chefs will go out of their way and provide it. I generally can't praise them enough. and visit. Good job to everyone who works there.

Mum came to Talbot House after a stay in hospital following a stroke. Mum was only with Talbot House for just over two weeks and in that time they cared for Mum and showed her compassion, empathy and dignity. They also cared for my sister and I during this upsetting time. All the staff went above and
beyond their remit and for that I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Mum spent 3 and a half years living at Talbot House. When she first moved in we thought the home was very good, but since then it has continued to get even better! She loved her room and all the staff. She enjoyed the various BBQs and entertainment. After experience of other homes with my father-in-law,
Talbot House is first-class for care.
We found each and every one of the staff and the manager to be proactive, caring and considerate. Nothing has been too much trouble to make Mum happy. Thanks, once again, for all your care and love provided to Mum.

Mum settled in quickly since moving in back in February and calls it her home. The staff are all very caring and nothing's too much. We take Mum out and about but she's always glad to get back to her home. Mum's always praising the amount of food she gets and the entertainment they provide. Staff will
always offer me a hot drink when I visit or even food if they are having a celebration. I couldn't wish for a better place for my mum to be. Well done to the manager and all his lovely staff.

Last week, Talbot House arranged a singalong/singer for the residents/friends and family of residents. It was a most enjoyable time, with tea and homemade cakes. The staff were really good at getting residents etc. involved and joining in. My mum has been there for two months and has settled well.

Mum has been here at Talbot House for a year now. Her health has improved dramatically since she has been at Talbot House. Whenever I visit, I am always greeted with a cheerful happy smile. All staff are so friendly making me tea as well as the residents. If I have any concerns the office door is always
open, and the manager is always approachable and solves any concerns at the time. Mum has an excellent rapport with all of the staff. Mum can be very particular at times however her needs are always catered for. Mum is included in activities and also in charge of laying the tables as well as being included in the fire marshal training in the home.

My mother received respite care at Talbot House in June 2023 and experienced a positive and enjoyable stay at the home. Upon arrival the staff made my mother welcome, introducing her to various residents and carers. The check-in process was smooth and handled professionally and all my questions were
answered clearly.
During her week at Talbot House, my mother enjoyed the various activities organised and she was very complimentary about the food! Given her stay coincided with nice weather in Staffordshire, my mother loved the fact that she was able to spend time in the lovely garden, something she had not experienced for a long time.
Her care needs were met with dignity and gentleness and the staff were always attentive. My interactions with the team at Talbot House were always friendly, considerate and helpful - I cannot speak highly enough of them.
Overall, the care was of a high quality and I would have no hesitation in using Talbot House again if required.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.694)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.694) out of 10 for Talbot House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.844 for Talbot House is calculated as follows: ( (145 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 167 Ratings = 4.844
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Talbot House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Daniel Feneysey

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2023

My name is Daniel (Dan) Feneysey, I started out in care as a care assistant and worked my way through various roles and climbed the ranks to the position of CQC Registered Manager.

I have been fortunate to have progressed onto managing a range of different services over 5 counties. I have a unique insight and first-hand knowledge of all roles so I can understand and empathise with the team. I am an experienced Manager who is very passionate about the standard of the service that we are providing to the people who are living with us. Since becoming the CQC Registered Manager for Talbot House I have been very lucky to be part of a growing home and with supporting the home to move forward with the support of the lovely people who use the service.

There are many reasons on why I love working at Talbot House, to name a few, the Residents and staff are wonderful, and it is such a pleasure to be able to support people to live well. Another reason is the support that we receive from the Directors, anything we need is provided for to ensure the continuous improvement in the home and for the comfort of the Residents. I am proud to be part of the team here at Talbot House and am very excited to see what the future has in store for Talbot House!
