My Mum has been here for over six years. We've had huge ups and downs with her health and is presently on end of life care. We live down in the south east so we have needed to feel that she is well cared for and safe. I would highly recommend Southwoods.

Overall Experience
My father now 100%confirmed a permanent resident here of which I and family are elated! We could not have wished for better care. The staff are wonderful the care my father receives is second to none, also notice how lovely they are with all of the residents during our visits.
I highly recommend! my father has dementia but settled in immediately when we had to make the sad decision as we could no longer look after him ourselves safely. From the day I wandered in here adhock august bank holiday last year with no warning i was welcomed by the wonderful Mickey who gave me a tour, chatted and reassured me, her care and warmth was not at all what I expected within a care home! I Instantly knew this was the place for my father a home from home! Manager Helen secured him a space of which I am most grateful which is now permanent. It certainly was the best decision made. All of the staff nurses reception entertainers caterers housekeeper handyman all are incredible feel like family THANK YOU

My father in law has been a resident in Southwoods Care Home for only several weeks having spent a significant time in hospital and little time in his own home prior to his transfer to Southwoods.
Both he and the family have been made to feel very welcome. Feels more like his own home. It we have any concerns, very few, they are dealt with immediately and with kindness and professionalism. As a family, we are happy in the knowledge that he is safe and well cared for.

Review of Westwood Lodge from Catherine T (Wife of Resident) published on 8 May 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
My husband has been in the care of Westwood Lodge staff since 2013. He has been well looked after during this time. In March this year he became very frail and a member of staff phoned to let me know he was close to end of life care. I went to be with him and stayed with him and the staff kept vigil all night by seeing to my husbands care needs and also looking after me too.
I cannot thank the staff enoogh for the care and compassion they have shown us both over the years.

Overall Experience
I cannot praise Amanda and her team at Abiden enough for the exceptional care they provide. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and truly homely. The staff are incredibly dedicated, compassionate, and professional, always treating my sister with dignity and kindness. She has settled in wonderfully and enjoys the varied daily activities, which have made a positive difference in her wellbeing. The food is good and the facilities are always kept impeccably clean. As a family we feel reassured knowing she is in such safe, caring hands. Abiden is truly a home from home.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care my father receives in this care home.Dad has been here for over 18 months after moving from another care home. All the staff are compassionate and go above and beyond to ensure his comfort, dignity and wellbeing. The staff are highly professional and always treat us with kindness and keep us informed and involved with all aspects of dad's care. Review of Margaret House from M I (Resident / Service User) published on 12 March 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
I currently live at Margaret House because of my physical disability and mental health issues. I am the youngest resident at Margaret House. The majority of the residents are elderly, but not all. Margaret House provides care and support for all ages (25+). The atmosphere at Margaret House is very friendly and jovial. The staff are kind, caring and professional. Staff are available 24/7. I am very independent but a member of staff will assist me out in the community if required because of my mobility issues. Margaret House is a lovely home and from my own personal experience is highly recommended.

Review of Talbot House from Jennifer M (Friend of Resident) published on 24 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card•
Overall Experience
My very dear friend has now been a resident at Talbot House for three years. She is extremely happy, healthy and content there. This, as I have said before, is due to the brilliant care and support shown to her and all the other residents. The Talbot House team are excellent and provide a fantastic home life for them all. I call it a home as that is what it is for the residents it is their home. The regular festivities, shows and singers all play a great part. Some kind of activity takes place every day keeping them entertained. I get a wonderful and very happy feeling every time I walk through the door. I have been shown around the newly completed extension which is a very welcome addition to Talbot House. The fact that they have been shortlisted for another award speaks for itself. Well done Talbot House team and a big thank you.

Review of Talbot House from Helen J (Friend of Resident) published on 29 January 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
This care home provides an exceptionally high standard of care within a genuinely warm and welcoming environment. There is a strong family feel, where residents are known as individuals and treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Staff are consistently attentive, compassionate, and responsive, nothing is ever too much trouble, and care is delivered with patience and genuine warmth. The home offers a rich and varied programme of activities, ensuring residents remain socially engaged and included. Seasonal celebrations such as Halloween & Christmas, along with national and significant events including royal weddings, are thoughtfully planned and inclusive, involving residents, families, and friends alike. These occasions foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
Quality of food is outstanding, with careful attention paid to individual likes, dislikes, and dietary needs. Meals are clearly prepared with care, and residents are supported to enjoy food as a meaningful event.

Review of Southwoods Nursing Home from Paul F (Husband of Resident) published on 23 January 2026 Submitted via Postal Card•
Overall Experience
I have an excellent rapport with the home's manager, deputy manager and lead nurse. Starting in the new year I would like to have a one on one meeting monthly with the home's management to review my wife's ongoing care. In an ideal world I would like to see more carers on duty per shift but I am well aware of the nationwide problems of recruitment and retention in the care sector. I must make a special mention of the home's activities coordinator who organises excellent in house entertainment for residents. Finally a heartfelt thanks to the dedicated carers who look after my wife 24/7. I know she is not always easy!!

Unfortunately my dad, Michael, passed away on 11th Nov. I wanted to just say that the staff could not have been any kinder or supportive during his time with them. They took excellent care of him. The hospital at home team also commented, when visiting dad that they were impressed with his care and lack of bedsores. (dad was bed bound in the end) I can't speak too highly of them. When going back to thank them it felt like coming home.

As a family we are over the moon with everything about Abiden, from the warm welcome and detailed information we received when looking around to the level of care mum receives. I cannot speak highly enough about Amanda and her team, they are attentive and caring and go above and beyond to ensure mum ( and all residents) are settled, happy and well looked after. To hear mum call it her home speaks volumes. She looks well and feels safe there. We cannot thank Abiden and all the amazing staff enough.
