I cannot speak highly enough about the care my father receives in this care home.Dad has been here for over 18 months after moving from another care home. All the staff are compassionate and go above and beyond to ensure his comfort, dignity and wellbeing. The staff are highly professional and always
treat us with kindness and keep us informed and involved with all aspects of dad's care. The home itself is always clean and smelling fresh and welcoming, there is entertainment and everyone is welcomed to join in.
I am just so grateful for everything you do, Thank you doesn't seem enough.

I currently live at Margaret House because of my physical disability and mental health issues. I am the youngest resident at Margaret House. The majority of the residents are elderly, but not all. Margaret House provides care and support for all ages (25+). The atmosphere at Margaret House is very friendly
and jovial. The staff are kind, caring and professional. Staff are available 24/7. I am very independent but a member of staff will assist me out in the community if required because of my mobility issues. Margaret House is a lovely home and from my own personal experience is highly recommended.
Reply from Daniel Cleough, Group Operations Director at Margaret HouseThank you so much, Mark, for taking the time to share your experience. Were delighted to hear how positively you feel about living at Margaret House. Our team works hard to create a friendly, supportive environment for residents of all ages, so it means a great deal to know that you feel both welcomed and well cared for.

Your independence is important to us, and were pleased that the balance of supportboth in the home and out in the communityhas helped you feel confident and included. Were also grateful for your kind words about our staff; they will be thrilled to know their professionalism and kindness have made such a difference.

Its wonderful to have you as part of our Margaret House community, and we truly appreciate your recommendation.

My very dear friend has now been a resident at Talbot House for three years. She is extremely happy, healthy and content there. This, as I have said before, is due to the brilliant care and support shown to her and all the other residents. The Talbot House team are excellent and provide a fantastic
home life for them all. I call it a home as that is what it is for the residents it is their home. The regular festivities, shows and singers all play a great part. Some kind of activity takes place every day keeping them entertained. I get a wonderful and very happy feeling every time I walk through the door. I have been shown around the newly completed extension which is a very welcome addition to Talbot House. The fact that they have been shortlisted for another award speaks for itself. Well done Talbot House team and a big thank you.
Reply from Dr Vivek Gupta, CEO at Talbot HouseThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a lot to the whole team at Talbot House.
We are delighted to hear that your friend is happy, healthy and feels at home with us - that is exactly what we strive to achieve every single day. Our team work incredibly hard to create a safe, caring and engaging environment, so it's wonderful to see that reflected in your experience.
We're especially pleased that you've noticed the activities, atmosphere and our recent extension - we're always looking for ways to improve and enhance life for our residents.
Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to share your feedback. It genuinely motivates our team to continue delivering the highest standards of care.

This care home provides an exceptionally high standard of care within a genuinely warm and welcoming environment. There is a strong family feel, where residents are known as individuals and treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. Staff are consistently attentive, compassionate, and responsive,
nothing is ever too much trouble, and care is delivered with patience and genuine warmth.
The home offers a rich and varied programme of activities, ensuring residents remain socially engaged and included. Seasonal celebrations such as Halloween & Christmas, along with national and significant events including royal weddings, are thoughtfully planned and inclusive, involving residents, families, and friends alike. These occasions foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
Quality of food is outstanding, with careful attention paid to individual likes, dislikes, and dietary needs. Meals are clearly prepared with care, and residents are supported to enjoy food as a meaningful event.

Southwoods Nursing Home

from Paul F (Husband of Resident) published on 23 January 2026

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I have an excellent rapport with the home's manager, deputy manager and lead nurse. Starting in the new year I would like to have a one on one meeting monthly with the home's management to review my wife's ongoing care. In an ideal world I would like to see more carers on duty per shift but I am well
aware of the nationwide problems of recruitment and retention in the care sector. I must make a special mention of the home's activities coordinator who organises excellent in house entertainment for residents. Finally a heartfelt thanks to the dedicated carers who look after my wife 24/7. I know she is not always easy!!
Reply from Daniel Cleough, Group Operations Director at Southwoods Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about your wife's care at Southwoods Care Home. Your kind words about our manager, deputy manager, lead nurse, and especially our activities coordinator and dedicated care team mean a great deal to us. They work incredibly hard to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for every resident, and feedback like yours truly encourages them.
We're really pleased to hear that you feel comfortable raising ideas and working closely with us. Your suggestion for regular one-to-one meetings is very welcome, and we look forward to continuing those conversations in the new year to ensure your wife's care remains fully aligned with her needs.
We also appreciate your understanding of the wider staffing challenges in the care sector. Despite these national pressures, our team remains fully recruited, and we are continually committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care around the clock.

Southwoods care homes comes with my highest recommendation!
My father was most lucky to be given a place here after I popped in when passing to be greeted by the most wonderfully friendly staff. My father has settled amazingly with the comfort and warmth of the incredible staff here! One hopes to care
for one's loved ones but when this becomes too difficult Southwoods is the ultimate place, home from home. The care given here is second to none. No matter what time of day or night staff are always happy as are the residents.
I would like to take this opportunity to show my appreciation and thank all the staff!

Unfortunately my dad, Michael, passed away on 11th Nov. I wanted to just say that the staff could not have been any kinder or supportive during his time with them. They took excellent care of him. The hospital at home team also commented, when visiting dad that they were impressed with his care and
lack of bedsores. (dad was bed bound in the end) I can't speak too highly of them. When going back to thank them it felt like coming home.
Reply from Daniel Cleough, Group Operations Director at Southwoods Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share these kind words at such a difficult time for you and your family. We are truly sorry for your loss and send our heartfelt condolences.

It means a great deal to the whole team to know that Michael felt supported and well cared for during his time with us. Your comments about the kindness of the staff, the standard of his care, and the feedback from the hospital-at-home team are deeply appreciated. Ensuring comfort, dignity and compassion is at the heart of everything we do.

We are also touched that returning to the home felt like coming home to you. Your gratitude and trust mean more than we can say, and we will make sure your message is shared with all the staff who supported Michael.

Thank you again for your thoughtful review. We wish you and your family strength and comfort in the days ahead.

1) Visited relative small room with poor access to toilet. Has commode in room which takes up large space. Relative used commode and staff were told needed emptying 11:30am. It took until further visits 4pm and 6:30pm before emptied despite telling staff.
2) Staff response is variable some seem to
care and empathy others not.
3) Clothes appear to disappear despite clear labels.
Reply from Daniel Cleough, Group Operations Director at Southwoods Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear about your recent experience and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.

We understand how important timely personal care is, and we are looking into the delay you described regarding the commode. This is not the standard we aim to provide. We will also be reviewing staff communication and consistency to ensure every member of our team offers the same level of care and empathy at all times.

Regarding clothing, we know how frustrating it can be when items go missing. We have clear procedures in place for labelling and laundry, and we will be reviewing these to make sure they are being followed correctly.

We have spoken with the family recently and have arranged a meeting in the coming weeks so we can discuss their concerns in more detail and work together on any improvements needed."

The staff members are very caring ensuring that all residents are monitored and attended to as necessary. My sister has been resident for over 2 years and is very happy at Marine Park View, which is great for our family, especially as she did not want to leave her apartment. She is happy about the
meals, the way she is treat, the attention she gets, including her medical needs, as are we. Whenever she has an occasional fall or mishap, we are advised about it as soon as it happens and what the staff have done to care for her, which has included them contacting A&E for a first responder to visit and on one occasion she was taken to A&E for attention. It turned out not to be too serious, the only requirement being to adjust her medication, which was all done over the phone with a family member without having to visit my sister until our regular visit. I have said before, I have no worries about my sister's care or attention. She is in safe hands. Marine Park View was and still is, a great choice for us.
