I can't find the words to describe how amazing the staff are in every department and I cant thank them enough for the care given to my husband. There is always someone to talk too, give you advice and sometimes a shoulder to cry on.
My husband who has Dementia and a severe stroke calls it home he's happy, adores the food ( which is excellent by the way), loves the staff who are very kind and patient with him.
Also I don't know how they managed it but he was taken out of the home in a wheelchair for a trip around Bakewell and he loved it, thank you.
I know my husband can't be easy at times but

If ever there were angels on earth they work a Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home.

Upon arrival from hospital for a respite period I was welcomed warmly this has continued throughout my stay. The food is excellant and prepared to individual requirements and served livingly.

Nothing is too much trouble. I am astounded at the way every person is treated with friendliness. My health is important to me and this is something that the staff are eager to uphold

A very good friend of ours struggled for a considerable time trying to manage alone at home.

It became evident that he required more care. We arranged for him to be admitted to Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home. We have visited him regularly each week and have found him to be content and happy in his surroundings. He loves the food and has settled well. The staff are very kind and helpful and work to a high standard. The Manager and support team are also very helpful with any queries or concerns. The Home is managed to a very high standard. I would highly recommend Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home to anyone looking for a safe and comfortable home.

It's taken me some time to write this. My mum was transferred to the cottage for end of life care. Sadly it was only for a few days but I was overwhelmed by how wonderful the staff were during this time. My mum received the utmost care in a clean and comfortable room, a home from home. The food looked and smelled lovely. The staff were wonderful caring for my mum and to the family showing compassion and understanding at a very difficult time. My mum passed away peacefully and with dignity in a beautiful room in her home town. The staff were incredibly kind and I will be forever grateful that mum was able to be in such surroundings with caring staff where nothing was too much trouble.

We are incredibly grateful for the outstanding care our grandmother received at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home. From the moment she arrived, the staff welcomed her with warmth and compassion, treating her with genuine kindness, dignity, and respect.
The home is always clean and has a true family feel. Staff took time to understand her needs, preferences, and personality.

Knowing she was so well cared for gave us immense peace of mind. We can't thank the team enough and would highly recommend Bakewell Cottage to anyone looking for a loving, supportive environment for their loved one.

We recently moved my father from his care home to The Cottage as he needed extra nursing care. The staff have been incredibly kind and helpful and he settled in much quicker than we dared to hope. After eating like a mouse at his previous home he is now eating for Britain! The catering staff take great pride in the food they prepare and serve and rightly so. Being in the middle of town is a joy as we can now push my father down in to Bakewell for ice creams and to feed the ducks on the river.

Thank you to all staff involved.

My mother-in-law is very happy in the home. It is well staffed, and those who work there are always friendly and kind (to her and to us) . This makes a very big difference to my mother-in-law's state of mind.

My mother will have been in the home for two years on 2nd December, following a stroke. Initially Mum thought she could cope at home with a little bit of help, but unfortunately, this wasn't practical due to her being paralyzed down the left side and all family members working full time. The carers soon took Mum to their hearts due to her sense of humour and she slowly settled into care home life. The staff at the home have been very friendly to me and my family and are always approachable if we have an issue. The food is fantastic, cooked on-site with lots of variation. There are activities most afternoons, if she wishes to join in. The gardens are lovely and private where she can sit out and enjoy the fresh air. They also hold events where family members can join in. I will admit I hated the thought of Mum being in a care home but I can't thank the staff enough for their care and patience, which puts my mind at ease as I know she is well looked after.

My father has been a resident of Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home since May 2024 and has really thrived there. The staff are lovely and very caring. There are always activities and events going on, in addition to clubs he can join. He wasn't able to live independently alone anymore but he has quality of life at the Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home and is very settled and happy there. I visit a lot of care homes in the course of my job, and the Cottage is the best I have seen. It really is in a class of its own.

Nurses and staff are all very kind and efficient and soon attend any problems that may occur. The highlight of this month was the outdoor barbecue which I believe all who could, in fact did attend with their photograph taken and displayed on the noticeboard for all to see. During each month, there are regular female and male singers, pub quizzes, flower arranging, table games and floor games. Including modified pilates class every fortnight which are enjoyed by all participants.

Our Mum came to Bakewell Cottage recently after we became dissatisfied with another local care home. It wasn't a quick or easy decision to uproot and move Mum but it only took a few days at Bakewell to realise that we'd made exactly the right decision. My 'mantra' for Bakewell Cottage compared to the previous care home is 'calmer and less drama'. As a family we have all been shown the greatest respect and kindness by all the staff and Mum's care has been wonderful from day one thus making the transition from the previous care home as good as seamless. In particular the thoughtfulness of all the staff has been outstanding as is the quality of the food. The ambience and overall calm feeling of the whole place has also been perfect. Thank you to all concerned for your support and help to this point.

Dad moved to the care home after the loss of Mum and being in hospital. Dad is a stoical man who does not take care lightly but I was amazed at how he settled in so well. To be frank, we did not think he would survive six months but over six years later is a testament to the wonderful care that has been provided at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home.
Dad, not really knowing the area, has been made to feel very welcome and although not one to socialise, he has found the kindness of the staff wonderful. Dad's health has been seen to in a caring way and both my sister and I value the strong bonds staff members have created with him. Dad is not one to suffer fools and is stubborn but the staff have handled him really well.
A special mention to the kitchen who have really tried with Dad, in terms of choice and quality despite his grumpiness.

The home has felt like a secure and loving environment which has really tried for Dad.

When our mum moved to long-term care we were pleased that she could be accommodated at Bakewell Cottage; however we did not fully appreciate at the time how fortunate this was. Two and a half years on we are very thankful for the wonderful care she is receiving. Our dad passed away earlier this year and we are so grateful that he had such a positive experience of her care. It is an inspiring place, with dedicated, professional, helpful and friendly staff and management team, clean homely rooms, an extensive well-kept garden, and excellent food, including regular home baking and tea parties. The special events are wonderful, involving great food and excellent live music, a huge effort is made by staff on these occasions but they always have time for warmth and fun. Updates regarding our Mum's health are always delivered in a caring way. We value that the staff have a strong appreciation of our mum's former character and have the time and interest to learn more about her earlier life.
