Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home is located in the centre of Bakewell in the Derbyshire countryside. The home provides residents with a peaceful and tranquil environment where they can relax in the homes comfortable surroundings and socialise with family and friends.

I'm floored by how great everyone is. It's the best place for Mum, to be surrounded by the common sense, humour, and (now that her eyesight's failing) accents that she grew up with. Wonderful place and people.

In memory of a great man, my utmost thanks to the dedicated, professional, personal care he received, a great man and what the great man deserved. Allowing him to pass with dignity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my sister drew great comfort from what was/is a very difficult time. Care homes
do get bad press, it's a difficult time and we don't always reflect properly, I am not going to single out any member of staff because all staff were brilliant. Finally, God bless you all.

My husband went into the home for end-of-life care when I could no longer look after him at home. He deteriorated quickly and should have had a “good” death. Unfortunately due to the attitude of the home and the brick wall they built he did not have a good death and I so regret sending him there.

I'm surprised to hear such comments about the excellent team at Bakewell Cottage. It would seem that our recollection of events in regard to 'attitude' and apparent 'brick wall' differ. Our dad needed to move from a residential home when he needed extra support and care following another stay in hospital. We looked around several homes in the area and we all decided that we wanted him to go to Bakewell Cottage. We have been really pleased with our decision.
Dad is well looked after
and has a lovely room which is always sparkling clean.
Although he can be quite a fussy eater and knows his own mind, the staff always provide food and drinks to tempt his appetite.
Dad has a good sense of humour and enjoys joking with the staff.
All the staff are always friendly and informative when any of us visits and we can visit at any time.

Bakewell Cottage took my mum in and transformed her care 360 degrees, her previous home had been awful and we had no confidence in the system at all. The staff and matron were so caring they made mums last days very comfortable, she was clean and warm and well fed. As her family, my sisters and I were
welcomed each time we visited and provided with refreshment. The home itself was clean and bright and the other residents seemed very happy and we enjoyed chatting with them. We can not fault the care and support given to us and our mum, thank you so much.

My 91-year-old father suffered a broken neck in February meaning that, once released from hospital, he would require a residential home offering not only a comfortable and safe living environment but also specialist nursing care. My mother was a resident in Bakewell Cottage for 3 years until her death on 14th July 2017.
The care she received was excellent.
The staff and the manager treated mum with compassion, respect and sympathy at all times.
The standard of cleanliness in the home and the food were excellent.
Mum's room
was bright and airy and until her health began to fade she enjoyed living in the home and joined in some of the activities.
I cannot fault the care my mother received.

I cannot praise Bakewell Cottage enough. The extremely clean, comfortable and beautiful home and it's amazing staff cared not only for my father but also for my sister and myself when we visited. Putting a loved one into care is a very distressing thing to do but every time I left dad after a visit
I smiled all the way home knowing he was safe and happy in their hands. In his final days, the nursing care was exceptional. The compassion and treatment he received was beyond belief. He passed calmly away with great dignity, a massive thank you to all the staff, my last memories of dad are good ones thanks to you.

The nursing home provided sensitive and excellent care in the last 18 months of my relative's life and ensured that even though the circumstances were difficult, he had the best quality of life possible. My brother has been in Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home until he passed away earlier this week. I can find no bad criticism of anything during his stay. The atmosphere was always welcoming. He had an attractive comfortable room and was cheerfully attended by the staff at all times. They gave him a birthday
party on two occasions. The manager was perfect, always placid and ready with a cup of coffee and caring to the patients. The only problem was that of parking.

In August 2015 I attended five nursing homes for my mother as she was very unwell and needed 24/7 care. I was shocked by some I visited. Two homes when I visited were excellent and I had a feel the homes were suitable for the needs of my mother, the home at Bakewell Cottage is very good on all counts
and they support me by taking the worry of my mother's care into their daily work.

Dad had excellent care from all the staff. Staff very compassionate on his death. Felt like we were going to his home. Always clean and tidy. We were always greeted in a friendly way and nothing was too much trouble.

My father spent more than three years here after he became unable to look after himself as a result of dementia. He remained content, well cared for and safe.
He passed away at the end of this period. The care home handled his death with compassion and the staff made every effort to support the family
at this difficult time.

My father became a resident of Bakewell Cottage in August 2016. He had suffered a stroke in May. The manager and all the team at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home made him most welcome and treated him with real care and the dignity he so deserved.
The staff have all been so attentive especially during
my father final days before he passed away. Nothing was too much trouble for the whole team of nurses and carers even with regards to the counselling of the family which really helped.
My sincere gratitude goes to Bakewell Cottage what more can I say!

Until her recent death, my mother was a resident at Bakewell Cottage Nursing Home. Whilst not too obviously delighted to be living in a home she found living there easy, comfortable and was on the whole happy there. My brothers and I felt that she was in safe hands with professional and caring staff,
she particularly enjoyed being teased and laughing and joking with some of her favourite members of staff. A big thank you to them. When the end came, the manager and her organisational flair made everything so much easier for us.
