Pinxton Manor holds the DELQA award (Derbyshire End of Life Quality Award) and is developing an active partnership with Marie Curie, including Life Cafes and dedicated staff support for end-of-life care. Pinxton Manor is now part of RDCP Care, having joined the group from Monarch Healthcare.
Step into the garden at Pinxton Manor and there is something genuinely unique to discover: the Prestland Arms, the residents' own named pub, and Amelia's Cafe, both housed in the large summer house and open for residents, families, and friends to enjoy together. Whatever the occasion, the summer house is the heart of social life at Pinxton Manor.
The home's connection to the village is deep. The village Christmas parade passes the home and residents line up to watch it each year. Residents visit the local library when local historians come to speak. The home attends the local church for craft mornings, Christmas hymns, and Armistice Day. Local schools and nurseries visit, and the children send birthday cards to residents.. These are not marketing claims. They are things that happen here, week in and week out.
Sing Along with Ellie, the home's dedicated singing for dementia group, visits twice a month. Mini zoos, pet therapy, and animal visits bring life and joy throughout the year. Residents visit Matlock Bath, local garden centres, shopping centres, and the local football ground to watch a live match.

If you are looking for the very best of person-centred care then Pinxton Manor provides it. The whole team show real skill and care in working with people with advanced dementia. From comforting my mum using a doll as a baby (Mum loved children) to providing sandwiches before her lunch when she was disturbed about being hungry nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Pinxton Manor. The management and administration is excellent, the care staff extremely caring, the nursing staff are knowledgable and incredibly human and the place is always clean, tidy and provided great food.
Throughout Mum's time there I was kept informed about her care and included in any decisions that needed to be made. Mum was included in a host of lovely activities all appropriate for her needs. When Mum's end came she was treated with amazing dignity and respect throughout the whole period of her terminal phase. So was I, I will miss the tea, offers of food and entirely welcome hugs!

When my mum was unable to live at home after a fall. I visited Pinxton Manor due to its convenient location. I was impressed by the facilities and the friendly staff and chose it over another local home I visited. Mum settled in well and quickly became a favourite with the staff. Everyone I met genuinely seemed to care for the residents and I enjoyed the freedom to visit Mum whenever I wanted ( although I did avoid mealtimes as suggested). After a few weeks, Mum told me "I like it here" which was a huge comfort to me. Unfortunately Mum was only a resident for a couple of months but in her last week, all the staff went out of their way to make a very sad and difficult time as easy as possible. I can't praise them enough for their support and am so pleased I chose Pinxton Manor for my mum.

I have worked at Pinxton Manor for just over 22 years, starting as a Care Assistant with only a year of community care experience. Over time, I progressed to Senior Care Assistant after completing my NVQ Level 2, and also became a Moving and Handling Trainer. I continued my development with NVQ Levels 3 and 4, alongside a leadership and management course, before moving into roles as Care Supervisor and then Deputy Manager. Becoming a manager was never something I had planned, so when I was asked to step into the role, I felt both surprised and honoured. Having lived in the village all my life, it means a great deal to me to provide high-quality care to people I have often known for many years, as well as those new to the community. I have now been in the Manager role for 10 years, navigating many challenges, including COVID, and I remain incredibly proud of the strong team and community spirit we’ve built together at Pinxton Manor.
Care wasn’t something I originally planned to go into, but after raising my two daughters, I wanted to do something for myself and decided to try working in a care home. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I find so much joy in seeing the happiness and comfort we can bring to residents each day. Creating and maintaining a warm, family-like environment is at the heart of what we do, and we extend that feeling to everyone who walks through our doors, including families and friends.
I would say my strengths lie in supporting others and being there when people need me most. I find it especially meaningful to help families spend quality time with their loved ones, particularly during end-of-life care, where compassion and understanding are so important.
My approach is to be open, honest, and approachable at all times. I believe in treating everyone fairly and making sure residents, families, and staff feel supported, listened to, and valued.
Family is everything to me, and that belief carries through into my work. It helps me support residents and their loved ones in maintaining strong family connections, especially during difficult and emotional times.
