Tynefield Court is a well-established nursing home in the Derbyshire village of Etwall. Operating since 1989, the home has been part of the local community for many years and provides high-quality care in a peaceful countryside setting. The home has been part of the Oak Tree Care Group since 2006 and is considered the flagship home within the group.

The home sits on the edge of the village surrounded by open farmland, with no neighbouring residential properties. Despite its quiet and private setting, Tynefield Court benefits from excellent transport links, with easy access to the A50 and Derby bypass, making it convenient for families visiting from Derby, Burton upon Trent and the surrounding areas.

Tynefield Court is a single-storey nursing home designed to provide comfortable and accessible accommodation. The home specialises in supporting adults and older people living with dementia, complex nursing needs, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health needs, including those who may present with more complex behavioural needs.

The home provides 51 single bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, arranged across three wings to create smaller, more homely living areas. Each wing has communal lounges and dining areas where residents can relax, socialise and take part in activities. Communal spaces include comfortable lounges, dining areas, a sensory room and a pub-style social space for residents and visitors. The experienced staff team delivers high-quality, person-centred care, supporting residents with dignity, independence and respect.

Adjacent to the home are Tynefield Mews, residential rental properties owned by the same provider which operate separately from the care home. Tynefield Court is currently undergoing significant development, with a large purpose-built extension being constructed to further enhance facilities.

Private fees typically range from £1,200 to £1,500 per week, depending on the bedroom selected and the level of care and support required and resident complexities. Fees are determined following a pre-admission assessment, which helps establish each resident’s individual care needs and any associated complexities.

I found this care home to be very good all round. The staff were the best I have seen, with smiles and making you feel at home. The home is very light and with private ensuite rooms. Also, the meals were just like meals at home. Very good. The only thing I can fault, the staffing levels are too low
at dinner times as having to wait to go to the toilet seems longer. Apart from that, they are very helpful. A good home that has improved a lot since my mother was first admitted, praise to the organiser.

I visited my grandmother to give her Christmas cards and presents. I hadn't been to visit for a while and was shocked to see the changes made within home décor wise. The home looks welcoming and fresh. My grandmother seemed very happy and on visiting was joining in with the Christmas party the home
had arranged for all residents. I was asked if I would like any refreshments when I arrived, new staff members from my previous visit but were friendly and polite.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.007)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.007) out of 10 for Tynefield Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.909 for Tynefield Court is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.909
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.098 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tynefield Court is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.098
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2026

Hi, I’m Katie, and I joined Tynefield Court in February 2026 as the Home Manager. I have worked in the care sector for many years and have extensive experience supporting residents with complex needs.

Most recently, I worked as a Registered Manager overseeing two large nursing services that supported people with complex health conditions and behaviours that may challenge. This experience has helped shape my approach to leadership and care.

I am passionate about leading with kindness and compassion and about ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care. I strongly believe in continually improving the experience of those who live in our homes, making sure Tynefield Court is a place where residents feel safe, respected and truly at home.

I am very happy to have joined the team at Tynefield Court and look forward to meeting residents, families and the local community.

If you are considering care for a loved one, please feel free to give me a call and arrange a visit. I would be delighted to show you around our residents’ home.
