Nestled in the heart of a Lincolnshire market town, The Cedars is a warm and inviting residence set in the grounds of the old vicarage, surrounded by mature gardens with views of The Bourne Abbey Church. The home provides residential, respite, and palliative care.

There are 56 bedrooms across five residential and nursing units - there is no segregation between the units; residents choose the room they would like to live in. Spacious lounges, dining rooms and quiet areas are situated in each wing of the home, meaning peace and quiet is never far away. All furnishings and decor throughout the home are of an exceptionally high standard. There are also picturesque grounds - the meandering Bourne Eau river flows through the garden and there is a sheltered decking area, perfect for outdoor socialising and enjoying the garden.

Trained chefs cook a variety of nutritious and tasty meals to provide residents with appealing daily menus. Special dietary requirements will be catered for.

The activities coordinator oversees a busy programme of events, planned with input from residents and relatives to ensure everyone's social needs are being met and exceeded. There are daily in-home activities as well as regular excursions and big events for special occasions.

My sister-in-law has resided at Cedars for just over a year. She settled quite quickly, is very happy and healthy. This is a tribute to the wonderful staff at Cedars. at all levels. I would recommend Cedars to anyone who is looking for a quality care home, quality in every sense.

My father was only at The Cedars for a short time; I wish he had been there all the time following his discharge from the hospital. The staff treated him with the greatest respect and compassion. His nursing care was excellent, and I was always confident that his needs would be met and any symptoms
managed to allow him to remain in comfort. The Cedars has a lovely homely feel, the staff always made us feel very welcome, and they really look after the well-being of their residents. Although my father was on a restricted diet, I could see that the food on offer was varied and of good quality, plus the complimentary cakes in the cafe were always really tasty! He wasn't able to join in any of the activities (and there are many on offer), but the staff still made the effort to get to know him as a person. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Cedars to anyone.

My father came to The Cedars Care Home at the beginning of March after spending nearly 6 weeks in the hospital which physically done him no good. The first couple of weeks was a hard transition for him but he has now settled in nicely and becoming more mobile and joining in the activities with the great
care the staff are giving him. He is really happy and would give The Cedars a high recommendation.

My father went into The Cedars for end-of-life care. During his short 4-week stay he was looked after so well by the amazing team. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, nothing was ever too much trouble. Despite his illness, Dad was happy and certainly felt looked after. I can't thank you enough.

My sister-in-law lived at Barchester The Cedars Care Home since March 2022. My wife and I chose Cedars because we were impressed by the facility and more importantly the staff. Since day one, all the staff have displayed genuine care for my sister-in-law and she has positively responded to that. My
sister-in-law appears very happy, has made new friends and her general well-being has definitely improved. We have no regrets at all.
Cedars is a first-class care home giving 5-star service.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Cedars Care Home. All the staff were really cheerful and helpful and greeted everybody by their name. There are many beautiful lounges beautifully decorated, with many seats and a wonderful view of the gardens; residents were allowed in the gardens with staff to keep
them safe. The menu was changed every day with a vegetarian meal also. The breakfast was a full English, porridge or cereal. The staff always made sure that you had your tablets. On Easter Sunday, we were all given an Easter Egg; I thought this was lovely.

Initially, my mum came for respite care but sadly her health deteriorated which then meant that she needed to become a permanent resident of the Cedars. From pre-and-post decorative updates the home presents itself as being friendly; with a homely feel and this is a reflection of the kind and caring
staff, and some certainly go that extra mile. When there has been an issue it has been addressed with immediate effect and the Manager herself openly invites feedback. Regarding food from my observations, it appears to be satisfactory and hopefully, residents can now enjoy some form of salad dressing or be prompted that there is some available - alas with dementia unless visibly evident my mum ends up going without. Just a minor point but it's what I know she enjoys. I know that the staff are sometimes stretched but would like to thank them for their kindness. As a relative and previous full-time carer for my mum, I'm reassured in knowing that my mum's needs are met.

I have been caring for my wife for nearly 3 years and was concerned about her moving into a Care Home.
However, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The staff at The Cedars are excellent in all respects, they are so polite, extremely professional and most of all, the support and care that they give
to my wife is second to none, in fact, it is exemplary. All I wanted was peace of mind, knowing that when I am not by her side my wife is being made comfortable and cared for by an excellent team who always put her needs first.

This care home advised they had experience with MND and dementia, were willing to accept both parents. Unfortunately, this was not the case. No experience with MND, and I was advised they would not take Dad (after admitting my mother). I made an official complaint, which was never actioned.
Upon
initial arrival, I was aware of how long call bells were ringing. I visited after two weeks and Mum had not had a shower or bath, just a bed wash. Her hands and feet smelled like cheese. After four weeks the same issue, no deep cleaning of Mum and the home had submitted their notice as they could not cope with the needs of my mother's MND.
After four weeks, medications were not fully given, they did not understand the complexity, monitoring and administering the many medications. I would Skype Mum and observe her choking on secretions and have to call the home to help, declined suction, not given fluids when she felt sick and safeguarding issues raised.

Covid restrictions are closely adhered to; staff are friendly, courteous, helpful. Staff appear very busy and tend to disappear but the call-bell was answered in a timely manner. Activities and mealtimes were not witnessed during my visits, therefore not rated.

It was very difficult putting my mum in a home as she has complex nursing needs, but she has been treated so well, she loves it in The Cedars. The staff are all outstanding and the level of nursing care, second to none. We are both overwhelmed with the kindness and respect we have both been shown.

Such a wonderful team. The staff have cared for my friend extremely well and are always quick to adjust to her changing needs and care. Even after her passing, they continued to help and offer support in the difficult days afterwards. I have enjoyed visiting, using the new visiting pod and the gardens
are tranquil and well kept. Everyone there have been very helpful and a big support when things get difficult. I cannot praise them enough. Many thanks in these difficult times.

My sister suffers from dementia but due to covid 19 visiting has been once a week and is distanced. It is now indoors and screened. My sister is very content and is well cared for. The carers are a delight as is the manager and her team.

I have been a second chef at the Cedars since 2024. I have over thirty years training and qualifications in various catering jobs such as schools, nurseries and restaurants. I enjoy experimenting with food- gathering varied (and sometimes unusual) combinations and trying to create a yummy and healthy end product.
As well as food, my main passions in life are my ‘three’ children- the youngest of which has four legs and a wet nose! As a family, we love to get together outdoors, enjoying nature and appreciating what can be so easily taken for granted in life.

I have 25 years of experience in facilities maintenance and management. For the last 15 ½ years I worked in a senior school with approximately 1600 staff and students. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and our Yorkshire Terrier.

Hello, I’m Leanne- Administrator at The Cedars. I am very happy to be able to support our residents and their families with anything relating to communications, finances or administration. If you have any questions about these aspects it is probably me you need to speak to. I have worked in care for over eighteen years, many of those here at The Cedars. I have worked across many different departments over time; which gives me a unique perspective about how everything works. I like being part of a team that I have happily worked with for so long. We will ensure that our residents enjoy the premium quality lifestyle that they deserve.

I joined Cedars Bourne as an Admin assistant in October 2023. I play a vital role in supporting our care home through liaising with all departments. I thrive on interacting with the residents who often spend time in the reception area, allowing me to form meaningful connections. I enjoy working in reception as I get to know everyone and meeting and greeting visitors gives me the chance to form lasting relationships. My hobbies outside of work include Karaoke, dancing salsa and bachata, travelling around the UK and different countries, and I cherish taking care of my cats.

Hi, I’m Rachel. I qualified as a nurse in 2008 and have spent a lot of my career in the RAF. Since I left I have done a variety of nursing and therapy jobs but I decided to return to my roots; where I started my nursing career. I have loved working with this group of individuals again.
I have only been here a short time but already feel part of the family.
Outside of work I am obsessed with decorating! My husband will quite often come home to a different coloured wall or ceiling. He’s use to it now.

Hi, I’m Alison, I qualified as a nurse in 2000 and started working in Preston Hospital in the Surgical Wards. I spent 12 years there; before I moved to Bourne with my 4 kids. I’ve worked in the local Doctors Surgeries and with the Palliative Care Team working in people’s homes. I have been working at The Cedars since 2020 and have loved working with such a great team since I arrived.

I’m Debbie, and I have worked at The Cedars since 2021. I qualified as a nurse back in the 1980’s, mainly working in Elderly Care at Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals. My life is centred around my four children and grandson, who I am very proud of. I adore football and tennis, days out with my many friends and holiday’s in the sun!
Throughout my working life I have met some amazing, caring people and the Cedars is no exception. Team Cedars work extremely hard to ensure our residents have the best life experience possible.

Firstly, I feel a real sense of privilege to be asked to step into this role. To support families who choose The Cedars as the home for their loved one or indeed for themselves as it really is a special place to be. A team that truly respects it is the 'home' for each and every resident, a place for their family to visit in the same way their family home was.


My Dad, Colin Norman has been in The Cedars since June 2023. When searching for the best home for him The Cedars stood out from the crowd. From Becky calling to introduce herself and offering to meet with me on a weekend, her day off... This spoke volumes to me and Becky still offers amazing support!


The one outstanding element for us as a family is how Dad's welfare is top priority, including enabling him to sit in reception, thus interacting with all the wonderful staff and visitors in a way that makes his world a happy place!


Having been on this journey over the past 8 years, full time for the past 5 years with Colin, I would like to support other families on their journey in any way I can. If I cannot help I will do my best alongside all the team at Cedars to direct you to pathways and other professionals that can.

Pauline is a very active member of The Cedars. An ex care-assistant; she has a unique insight into life in a care home, both as an employee and as a resident. Pauline will act as the voice for our residents, and is keen to help and support wherever she can in order to ensure that everyone receives the enriching, caring and fulfilling experience that they expect. She says: ‘I am particularly interested in helping new people and showing them the ropes. It can be quite daunting coming into an environment you don’t know or understand’.
