Overall Experience

My mum has recently moved into The Elms and loves the care that the staff give her she had gone downhill in her previous care home and we weren’t happy so decided to move her here and she is now much happier and looking a lot healthier than she has done for a while. The staff are doing an amazing job and we are very grateful to them all, although she likes to walk the corridors the staff always seem to know where she is which is reassuring.

Staff are friendly and kind and try to resolve any problem to the best of their ability within a good timeline. Feel staff should check residents' draws and wardrobes at least once a week to ensure things like "old bread/food" are not put in draws by residents with dementia. This has happened on occasion when we haven't been able to visit and sort out the facilities in the room to keep it tidy and clean.

The Elms Care Home is taking care of my brother-in-law. He has numerous health problems and his wife is unable to cope with them, so he is now a resident at this excellent care home.
On our first visit, we were impressed that parking was easy. Our reception was friendly and very helpful and we were taken to our relative's room and introduced.
The room was pleasant with a window giving a view over the fields behind the property. It was well-equipped and included a television.
The resident hairdresser popped in for a brief chat with our brother-in-law and we found she had recently given him a haircut.
On a second visit, our view was confirmed that this is a very well-run establishment with a high standard of care and cleanliness. Our relative said the food was good and he enjoyed choosing from the menu.
All the staff we met seemed very competent and friendly.

My wife and I believe this is a first-class care home and we would recommend it to anyone looking to place a relative in care.

During the last two months, there has been a change in unit managers; there are now two, and they are joint unit managers who are approachable, cheerful and very welcoming. The atmosphere in the unit is much more friendly, and the staff are welcoming. We know when we have queries or concerns, we can go the either of them, and these are acted on promptly and professionally, and nothing ever seems too much. As a family, we are extremely happy with the unit managers and staff, and long may it continue.

Overall Experience

Following a fall at home in January of this year, and a transfer from Lincoln hospital to Louth, in order to receive the full-time care she needed, Mum moved into the Elms in February. She moved initially onto Larchwood. I live some 120 miles away, but visited as often as I was able to and my sister, along with Mum's carer, a good friend, visited regularly. Our impressions were of a team of caring, loving professionals who always made time to talk and help if needed. They made such a fuss of Mum, she was called a beautiful lady on many occasions. Unfortunately in recent weeks, Mum's health deteriorated and she was moved to Woodlands for palliative care and again the staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble and they really made her comfortable and took good care of her until she sadly passed away last week. Staff from downstairs came to visit her which was over and beyond what they needed to do. We appreciate everything they did for Mum and cannot rate them highly enough.

My father was admitted to The Elms under the end-of-life care process, and remained there until July when he passed away. We found the staff to be incredibly dedicated, and hardworking. My Mother and I visited every day and got to know many members of the staff, who treated us brilliantly. We came to consider them friends by the end. The effort they put in was superb, and they did all they could to keep my Dad comfortable. We were made welcome at any time of day or night, and our needs were also catered for. It was a traumatic time, and without such amazing staff, I don't think we would have coped. I can't thank everyone enough.

Our mother received excellent care during her year at the Elms. She was always comfortable, safe and well cared for. She was helped to be as settled and happy as possible, given her challenging medical situation. The whole team are friendly and helpful, always welcoming during visits, with no query too much trouble. Mum’s room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and light, with a good-sized window. Overall, I was so impressed and appreciative of the high standard of care provided.

My 102 year old mother only recently had to go into respite care due to a family bereavement. Following that she was then brought to The Elms Care Home in Louth to be nearer family. Since her arrival we have only been met by kindness, sympathy for our family loss and made to feel very welcome. My mother has settled extremely well after only a few weeks. She is always well dressed, treated with dignity and friendliness. Staff are helpful in providing updates on how her day has gone.

I find the care and support given to my Mum are extremely helpful. During this last year of many challenges, Mum has found life very difficult. She has moved to this care home only recently, but I am well assured by the care team that all her needs are being met on a daily basis. The management of the care home is second to none, and I would highly recommend it.

My father was admitted to The Elms in May 2020, and in June 2020 my mother was admitted, initially for respite care but is now a permanent resident. The standard of care, attention and dedication to duty shown by the staff is second to none. They have made a very distressing time for my family more acceptable, as we know that both our parents are receiving the best quality care possible.

During this very difficult time, the home has done all it can to keep residents safe, for oakwood unit this has meant visitors sit outside and communicate with residents through the floor to ceiling windows of the sitting room. The staff have been excellent in facilitating that communication for mum who is unable to speak and finds it hard to focus.

The staff make a particular effort to dress mum prettily for our visits, knowing that this has been important to her in the past. They take time to update me on the details of mums week.
