This care home is a period house with a purpose built care unit, providing nursing and social care for older people who are physically frail and older people with dementia.

Accommodation at The Elms is provided in single occupancy rooms and many have en-suite facilities. The Elms features several lounges and separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy the company of others at mealtimes. Traditional home cooking using fresh products are served and daily choices are available. Special diets can be catered for.

A hair stylist visits the home regularly. Laundry for residents is undertaken by the home. Residents can enjoy a varied programme of activities.

During the last two months, there has been a change in unit managers; there are now two, and they are joint unit managers who are approachable, cheerful and very welcoming. The atmosphere in the unit is much more friendly, and the staff are welcoming. We know when we have queries or concerns, we can
go the either of them, and these are acted on promptly and professionally, and nothing ever seems too much. As a family, we are extremely happy with the unit managers and staff, and long may it continue.

Following a fall at home in January of this year, and a transfer from Lincoln hospital to Louth, in order to receive the full-time care she needed, Mum moved into the Elms in February. She moved initially onto Larchwood. I live some 120 miles away, but visited as often as I was able to and my sister,
along with Mum's carer, a good friend, visited regularly. Our impressions were of a team of caring, loving professionals who always made time to talk and help if needed. They made such a fuss of Mum, she was called a beautiful lady on many occasions. Unfortunately in recent weeks, Mum's health deteriorated and she was moved to Woodlands for palliative care and again the staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble and they really made her comfortable and took good care of her until she sadly passed away last week. Staff from downstairs came to visit her which was over and beyond what they needed to do. We appreciate everything they did for Mum and cannot rate them highly enough.

My father was admitted to The Elms under the end-of-life care process, and remained there until July when he passed away. We found the staff to be incredibly dedicated, and hardworking. My Mother and I visited every day and got to know many members of the staff, who treated us brilliantly. We came to
consider them friends by the end. The effort they put in was superb, and they did all they could to keep my Dad comfortable. We were made welcome at any time of day or night, and our needs were also catered for. It was a traumatic time, and without such amazing staff, I don't think we would have coped. I can't thank everyone enough.

Our mother received excellent care during her year at the Elms. She was always comfortable, safe and well cared for. She was helped to be as settled and happy as possible, given her challenging medical situation. The whole team are friendly and helpful, always welcoming during visits, with no query
too much trouble. Mum’s room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and light, with a good-sized window. Overall, I was so impressed and appreciative of the high standard of care provided.

My mum was a recent resident in the home - I was very impressed with the care given to my mum. The home was very clean and the staff friendly and professional. I was kept informed about her condition and was always made to feel welcome when visiting.

My 102 year old mother only recently had to go into respite care due to a family bereavement. Following that she was then brought to The Elms Care Home in Louth to be nearer family. Since her arrival we have only been met by kindness, sympathy for our family loss and made to feel very welcome. My mother
has settled extremely well after only a few weeks. She is always well dressed, treated with dignity and friendliness. Staff are helpful in providing updates on how her day has gone.

I find the care and support given to my Mum are extremely helpful. During this last year of many challenges, Mum has found life very difficult. She has moved to this care home only recently, but I am well assured by the care team that all her needs are being met on a daily basis. The management of the

For the last five years, we have been part of the unit. The care and attention to my husband and all of our family have been excellent. The staff are amazing, treating us with respect and my husband with dignity at all times. The management team are available at all times.

My father was admitted to The Elms in May 2020, and in June 2020 my mother was admitted, initially for respite care but is now a permanent resident. The standard of care, attention and dedication to duty shown by the staff is second to none. They have made a very distressing time for my family more

During this very difficult time, the home has done all it can to keep residents safe, for oakwood unit this has meant visitors sit outside and communicate with residents through the floor to ceiling windows of the sitting room. The staff have been excellent in facilitating that communication for mum
who is unable to speak and finds it hard to focus.
The staff make a particular effort to dress mum prettily for our visits, knowing that this has been important to her in the past. They take time to update me on the details of mums week.

Today I visited my parents for the first time since the easing of lockdown measures, it had been three months since I last saw them. The staff were welcoming and made last-minute changes to accommodate my parents' individual needs so that the visit could be successful for all of us.
It was a joy to
be able to see and talk with my parents and to share that joy with the staff who have been looking after them so well through these very difficult times. Thank you.

As we entered The Elms we were struck by the pleasant surroundings - a bright and well-appointed reception area, and a warm welcome. Compared to other Homes in Louth, many of the residents seemed more active and responsive. The lounge and activity area was, again, nicely decorated, with a pleasant
ambience.


The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and it was this that tipped the balance in favour of The Elms. No Care Home will ever be perfect for a loved one, but surely a key factor is the staff, and how they relate to, and care for, residents.


We had no regrets about our decision. My mother was in The Elms for eight weeks, the final three of which she was bed-ridden and very poorly. The professionalism, sensitivity and good humour the staff showed towards her, in particular in the last 48 hours before she passed away, was, it seemed to us, over and above merely doing their job.


Good food. Could do with a make-over in some areas.
