Hunters Creek was my Mother's home for nearly 2 years. The warmth of the welcome she received on day 1 from Edgars immediately filled me with confidence that she was in the right place. I have never had cause to lose that confidence. She was treated with kindness, respect and infinite patience by all
the staff. I was always impressed that any staff member I approached on the first floor knew what she was up to and where I was likely to find her despite this being a really large nursing home. I can't name every person who looked after her but we will be eternally grateful to all of the staff who were so kind, caring and supportive; from Calan who sourced her favourite ginger beer when there was a shortage and Lola who travelled and stayed with her in hospital to Lewis who made emergency arrangements for medical care. Mum was not always an easy person to be around but the Staff at Hunters Creek are made of Special Stuff. I salute them all.
Reply from Jenny Bellwood, Marketing Director at Hunter's Creek Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. It means a great deal to all of us at Hunters Creek to hear how warmly your mother was welcomed and how supported she felt throughout her time with us. We're truly touched by your recognition of the team's kindness, patience and commitment.

Your comments about the staff's attentiveness and the individual examples you've shared, from finding her favourite ginger beer to accompanying her in hospital and ensuring she received timely medical care, reflect the compassion and dedication the team strives to provide every day.

It was a privilege to care for your mother, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us over the past two years. Your kind words and appreciation mean more than we can say. We wish you and your family all the very best.

Mum came to this care home and they have done wonders. She is starting to walk slowly again after breaking her foot with the patience of all of the carers. Cannot fault anyone one person they love Mum and make us so welcome when we visit as well. Nothing too much for them and if we ask questions always
help and if can't find someone who can. Entertainment lads Tyler and Toby are great and make the residents time enjoyable with their activities. Would like to say thank you to every single one of you from carers, entertainment, reception, nurses, kitchen staff, hairdresser, cleaners and anyone I may have missed for looking after Mum so well and always making us welcome and our visits enjoyable. I feel content that Mum is safe and being looked after 24/7 with great care and that she has always got someone about which is what she likes. Thank you once again to every single one of you.

My husband was a resident in Hunters Creek and I have to say the care he received went way beyond my expectations. Everyone from the front desk and cleaners to the nursing staff were a credit to the manager. Staff always knew where he was or had been, phone calls kept me updated with any problems
and most importantly he was always happy. From the day we visited to choose a place for him, there was never any doubt that this was the best choice of others visited. Many thanks to all who cared for him. 5 stars are not enough.

This home is wonderful. I have never seen a grumpy member of staff. They are always happy and never look stressed. The entertainment team are amazing, they have such fun with all the residents. Today there was a singer in, everyone had a great time, lots of singing, dancing, laughter and smiles. This
home is 10 times better than Mum's last home. I'm extremely happy to leave Mum there.

Let's be honest, none of us want our loved ones to have to go into care, however, sometimes we have no other option. My relative spent some time at Hunters Creek. I have read the negative reviews but I have to say, in all honesty, my experience was quite the opposite. The reviews must have been taken
seriously as we did not have any issues. I found the home to be inviting and caring. The staff were wonderful. My relative was kept clean and treated with the utmost dignity. Us, as family members, were kept "in the loop" and were treated with care and compassion at all times.. I, sadly, have another family member who requires long term care, Hunters Creek will be my first choice.

My father has been a resident since January and is very settled. The care is excellent and the staff are lovely. There is a homely atmosphere and it has a relaxed friendly feel. The food is well presented, and my father says it's very tasty. There are always drinks available both in his room and via
the regular tea rounds. There are plenty of activities to do including trips out. Overall we are very happy with Hunter's Creek.

I'm incredibly grateful for the wonderful care my Nan receives at Hunters Creek Care Home. The environment is warm, welcoming, and always spotless, which really puts our minds at ease. The atmosphere throughout the entire home is calm, friendly, and full of genuine care.

A special mention goes to

My grandad was looked after by the care team at Hunters within his last weeks of life, I can honestly say that they treated him like the amazing person he was from the start of his stay till the end of his life, the care was exceptional and couldn't fault them. The deputy manager Edgars was impeccable,
I was able to witness on multiple occasions his coming out of the office and make effort with residents (which isn't often found), and the duty of care and respect carried out towards us as a family let alone to my grandad was personally appreciated, as a team they worked brilliantly to tend to Grandad's needs, honestly couldn't have asked for him to receive better care, and I know that he would agree as he would tell us how he liked it there. I would just like to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much hunters creek!

Mum lived with dementia for too many years, 8 of those years were spent at Hunters Creek. Mum was well cared for at the home, by staff that liked her and even loved her. Food was nutritious, the environment and her room were regularly cleaned. Staff were friendly and chatty, whilst mum was able to partake,
various daily activities were available including live entertainment. During mum's final days, the staff really stepped up. The loving care they showed mum was touching. The support they offered me was invaluable. I'll miss my regular visits. Thank you Hunters Creek.

My partner was in this home for respite. He was put on to the dementia floor. There he lost most of his clothes. I found him wearing someone else's clothes. I had taken his clothes in labelled with his name, but they still went missing, coat, shoes and finally his toiletries bag and glasses all gone
missing. So he had not shaved in days because he had no means to do so. All his washing soap etc. had gone. When I mentioned this to the staff many times nothing got sorted. I did try to find his glasses myself and looked all over for his toiletries bag but nothing happened to turn up. I then found a plastic bag with dirty clothes in e.g. dirty pants covered in poo, which I took home and disposed of.

All I can say is that this place was chaotic. My partner did not receive good quality care and £££s worth of his belongings went missing. The place stank and our shoes stuck to the floor every time we visited.
Reply from Rebecca Yeomans, Home Manager at Hunter's Creek Nursing HomeI am deeply saddened and rather shocked by this. Whilst the gentleman's children were happy with the care provided, we had separately received concerns from the reviewer which we take incredibly seriously. We are acting upon this concern and will endeavour to assure the reviewer where we feel developments to the service are required. My dad has Alzheimer's and is cared for by Hunter's Creek. Each time I visit, I am so impressed by the care given to him. Many of the carers have spoken to me about him - they are warm, knowledgeable and know him well. Last time I visited, he was dressed in his Wolves top, ready to hear about the day's
football matches. We have experience at another care home and this one surpasses that in every single way. It is the carers and nurses who make this place.

Well I am moving out of here. I have been here 2 1/2 years now. I have not had a good Christmas in here, management has spoiled them both. The careers are 100%, put us residents first priority, the hk, chefs, nurses, senior nurses and the one female floor manageress and the under manageress are absolutely
brilliant and outstanding. They are all too good to work here, they get no respect or appreciation from the CEO, manageress, the male floor manager and all the visitors that have put a review on here don't see what goes on after they leave. They think their love ones are being cared for properly but they are not, I wouldn't class this place as good as a pet cemetery. If you have a loved one that needs care please don't let social services adult care talk you into letting a family member here. I can't speak for all Tanglewood care homes apart from Hunters Creek and the one at Spalding. The food in here is great if you're not diabetic. Tea time it's all cheesecake or pastries, nothing at all for diabetic people.

My father sadly died at the end of last month after spending sixteen months at Hunter's Creek Nursing Home. He was admitted from hospital after being treated for sepsis and he was suffering from dementia. I was very happy with his care. The room was pleasant, always clean and looked onto the garden.
The staff were excellent, a variety of ages, lots of young people, always attentive, if you asked them to do something for my dad, it was clear they were fond of him and knew his particular needs. The manner of his passing was dealt with great compassion. The activities organised, very good.

My mum spent what turned out to be the last 3 months of her life here May - September 2022. Our family never wanted to put her in a care home but her dementia made it unsafe for her to stay at home any longer.
We knew as soon as we visited Hunters Creek it was the right place for her. The facilities,
activities and atmosphere were just what we wanted. I had visions of her sitting in her room all by herself in a care home but it soon became clear this was not going to be the case. The staff were fantastic to mum and always available to us to discuss our concerns, they even offered to feed us if we were there at mealtime. It's taken me a while to write this review butI will always be grateful to all the staff and some of the other relatives for their support and a shoulder to cry on. Far from being a sad place, the atmosphere was wonderful and Mum was convinced she'd lived there for years. We still miss her desperately but thanks to Hunters Creek staff she had a wonderful last 3 months.

The Average Rating of 4.313 for Hunter's Creek Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (180 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (24 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 278 Ratings = 4.313
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hunter's Creek Nursing Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
