Well run caring and nursing facility. Complaint - very poor at dealing with phone calls, very often no one answers. Weekends it is hopeless, it needs attention.

This home has gone downhill in the last two years, it was a lovely clean and fresh smelling home. Now they are nearly always short-staffed and they are in and out as fast as they can, which is not good for residents who have mental issues. Some of them who need hoisting takes more time. My husband has gone from doing things for himself to being more or less reliable on the carers. They don't even have time to nip in and give him a sip of drink.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We were surprised to see your concerns, as sadly they were not raised with the home during your frequent visits.

We hope that the immediate contact, long discussion and agreed outcomes go some way to addressing your feedback.

Mum seems very happy here, so this makes me happy. Was slightly disappointed after ringing twice on Monday this week asking how Mum was, being told both times I would get a callback but did not receive one.

Hi Paul, thank you for your review of Hunters Creek. We are delighted your mum is happy at the home, but disappointed that you didn't receive a call back, this is not our usual practice. I have placed a friend under the care of this home and later, my mother. I find the standard of this home to be above those of others I have visited. The staff are friendly and helpful and treat the residents kindly.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the whole team at Hunter's Creek, Boston for the care and support you have given to my husband. The care my husband received was outstanding which is a testament to the management and staff at Hunter's Creek. Every member of staff treated him with such love, compassion, respect and I can't thank you enough for this. My husband who had dementia was very happy there and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful homemade food! There are no words to express how grateful me and my family are for all the hard work, love and care you gave him.

My mother has been in the home over 5 years now and has seen various management changes. The current management now seems to be more stable athough I do feel that they are short-staffed at times. My mother particularly enjoys the interaction with staff and the activities and has always complemented the activities coordinator on her commitment to arranging things for the residents. I do feel that there is not so much entertainment now but understand that the current pandemic has affected this. I really feel that the home should offer more trips out as there are residents that would enjoy this and I know my mother, in particular, would. This very rarely occurs and I feel the homes as a group could/should purchase their own transport to facilitate this and add to the quality of life for residents (if they can build 2 new homes in the last 3 years they surely can afford this). The care appears good, staff are friendly and the home is always clean, rooms a little small. Would recommend it.

Lovely home, run on a shoestring. Only 7 carers for 91 rooms. Carers are either very good or very poor. One nurse can be very hostile, telling Mum she's not got any pain, she's putting it on. The last time Mum had fractured her shoulder in 2 places and spent 16 days in hospital. Manager is very good and will act on any problems reported to her, but most residents are scared to report thing because it rebounds on them. Food, cleanliness and activities are very good.

My brother has learning disabilities, so at times it can be difficult to understand him if he comes unsettled, due to him not listening and absorbing what he has been told. My brother has become very settled with the staff, and especially the manager. My brother's close friend died and we were concerned about how my brother would react to the news, but with all the support from the staff and the manager, he has coped amazingly well. I must mention the cleaning staff/team, who have supported his too. It has helped my brother so much having the entertainments provided by the home, as the benefits enormously from this - the entertainments staff, in particular, are so supportive to my brother, it is so nice how they pass on how my brother has gained from different activities to the family too.

My Father is a resident at Hunter's Creek and I cannot fault the care he receives. During January he caught a cold virus and was quite ill. The staff contacted the doctor who visited quickly and they made sure he was comfortable and well-observed during his illness. Also, as he was in the RAF during the war, they arranged for some local students to interview him and he enjoyed recounting some of his wartime experiences and also enjoyed showing them his uniform and pilot logbooks.

My aunt is now bedridden and requires a lot of care and a special diet. When I visit, she is always clean and her room is tidy. She is regularly bathed and she is occasionally put in a special chair so she can sit with other residents. I have been in many care homes and believe this is one of the best. I'm very pleased with the way my aunt is treated.

Staff appear very knowledgeable and can prevent fights occurring between Dementia patients and relatives. The only time I have witnessed violence was at dinner times when all the staff were busy taking patients back to their rooms and no staff were present in the dining room. Once the staff are aware, they are great at stopping it. The artwork on the walls is very stimulating for the Dementia patients and is a very good idea. Overall, one of the best care homes for Dementia all of the family has seen.

My husband has been in Hunter's Creek nearly 3 years and has asked me to complete this on his behalf.
He is very happy with the treatment he has received and finds most of the staff very caring and helpful. The meals are first class and usually on time, with a variety of choice. Activities are good, but wishes there was some kind of activity at weekends, as not everybody wants to watch television or a DVD.

He does wish there was some transport - like there was at one time, to have visits to local garden centres or to Skegness for fish and ships!! Maybe something can be done about this.

My mother-in-law has been at Hunters Creek for four years now, and in that time has been very well looked after. It is not just the physical care we are pleased with, but the activities for the residents provide mental stimulation. Although my mother-in-law is not always a willing participant, we are certain it has made a big difference to her quality of life.

I visit my friend to do her hair most weeks. I always find the staff very friendly and caring. The home always looks clean and most important does not smell (odd times there has been a smell but that I know cannot be helped). The residents all seem happy and well looked after. I know several of them so therefore I chat to them in the communal areas. I love the fact that there's often people in to entertain which i know the residents love. I would be happy for any of my family to be cared for at Hunters Creek.

As most places, the feeling you get about the home depends on who is working on the day, who is working there to earn a wage and who is passionate about their job. We have been when the home smells of urine when you walk in and the person we are visiting hasn't been offered a drink. We have been there other times and there has been no smell and the staff have been fantastic. When we went yesterday everyone was lovely and helpful. My relative is well looked after and in this day and age of abuse I have no fears. They are happy and for their age look well. The activities in the week are great but lack slightly at the weekend. They look after them on their birthdays and work with the family. I don't think any home ever replaces their own home, but when need 24 hour care, this offers a home in a new building which looks well looked after and has plenty of lounge and sofa areas to sit away from your room. My relative has never mentioned the food once which suggests it is good. The only down side, which isn't anything to do with the home it is a long way from where I live so I don't get to see my relative as much as I would like, so to see when a passionate carer is working and talking to her like a friend is lovely.

My mother has been in the care home as a resident privately funded since October 2014, she enjoys the company but I know she is sometime disappointed by the food and feels more could be done for those residents that have full capacity and are somewhat independent. She appears happy. I would like to see them do trips out for those residents able to go (there are four homes in the group maybe a shared mini bus) I also feel it unfair that extra's have charges i.e escorts to hospital appointments. Value for money well it seems expensive at around £3,400 per month.
