Our father has now been a resident for around two years & we have always found all staff to be helpful, caring & polite.
Our mother spent her final week being cared for & we couldn't have wished for better care on her final days, both mum & the family members sat with her were looked after, the compassion
shown to the family was beyond anything we expected.
As a family we couldn't recommend Nightingale House highly enough.
Reply from Emma Steadman, Manager at Nightingale House Care Centre

Thank you so much Debbie for your lovely comments, it was a pleasure to have mum in her final days, after getting to know her so well caring for dad who is a treasured resident.

My mum has been here since Oct 2024. Mum has dementia. I have an iPad in her room and generally the internet connection is good enough for me to video call her nearly everyday and she also has a hub so I, and the staff, can put some music on for her if she is a bit agitated or just would like to listen
to some music. I go and see her every couple of weeks. The staff know me and are happy to update me on how mum has been.
Generally mum is quite happy and does get involved in some of the activities. She has a lovely view from her room and I feel as though I have made a good decision to have her looked after at The Nightingale.
Mum and others say that the food is very good. I think they make it there.
It's a bit out of the way, so not the easiest to get to, but I've never had a problem parking.

Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful review, mum is certainly a loved character in the home and we enjoy looking after her.

I have had nothing but good experiences. Staff are caring, supportive and extremely friendly. All supporting facilities are very good. E.g food, activities etc. The room is a little small and tucked away, but she does appear to be content with it. All in all, a lovely place for her care, safety and
companionship.

Great establishment. Far better than others we looked at locally. Staff are caring, friendly and empathetic. Leadership team in the home work well to ensure comfort, safety and dignity of relatives. The meals are great. Nothing is too much trouble despite, what I'm sure, are some demanding residents.
I'd certainly recommend Nightingale House Care Centre above any others I've experienced.

The kindness, caring and support shown by the team at Nightingale House during my dad's 2-month stay was very good. My dad arrived at the home, having not such great health and experiencing some tough situations. The team supported him and helped return him to fitness enabling him to come home. Thank
you!

My mum was admitted at very short notice and from the get-go was treated with utmost care and given great attention. She was very, very poorly. In 6 months the constant care, friendship and medical expertise has literally changed my Mum's life. I cannot praise the staff enough and I will be eternally
grateful to everyone involved in Mum's care. She now enjoys a very varied and happy life. Thank you all.

Initially, my sister was admitted to Nightingale House for two weeks respite care in early October. She was very disoriented at the time, but was treated with respect and care immediately by all of the relevant members of the care team. Wheels were quickly put in motion for her to be assessed and they
kept my husband and I up to date at all times. Four months later, my sister is a different person and is totally content to be looked after by the team. Without exception, they have been amazing with their care, attention and knowledge and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. She has finally been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but my family and I are very happy that she is receiving the best of care and is content to be looked after by the brilliant care team at Nightingale House. Thank you.

Our father has been a resident for a year and has always been well looked after. There are plenty of activities that he enjoys and the staff have a lovely relationship with him. This review is for a particular period in November when sadly our mother was on end of life care. Luckily there was a space
for her at Nightingale House and her last few days were spent in the wonderful care of the staff. Not only were all of her needs met but the compassion of the staff allowed my father and us four children time with her to say goodbye. We were made so comfortable, drinks and snacks were even offered to us, and they went beyond duty during the most difficult time. We will be forever grateful to Nightingale House.

My mum was in the care home for about fifteen months before she passed away. She loved it, she was well-looked after, all the staff were lovely, always had time to chat with Mum, she enjoyed playing bowls, board games and puzzles and she liked it when the children went to sing to them, she also liked
when the hairdresser did her hair. Mum was very happy there, she loved all the staff, they always had time to have a chat with her, she loved the food and loved the puddings. Nightingale House is the best care home and I'm pleased I was able to get Mum in. Thank you to all staff for looking after my mum so well.

My first experience at this care centre. Excellent greetings, plus a welcome card. My room is very good with adequate space - a cupboard, dressing table for my clothes. The laundry was very good with the daily collection and returned immediately. All staff are very good at being polite and helpful.
The meals were excellent plus cups of tea and plentiful fresh water.

I did not want my husband to go into a home but due to my own ill health, I had no choice.
I have been very pleased with the care my husband has had since last October,
I received so much understanding from the staff, and they give him a lot of personal care to help him to settle.

My mum was in Nightingale House Care Centre for 6-years until her death in October 2021, she was always very happy there and I was very happy with all the care she received. All the staff were always friendly and very caring and happily put up with all of Mum's quirky little ways. Mum loved the activities
provided on a daily basis and got involved as much as she could. I was always contacted when Mum was ill, and also kept well up to date with the situation throughout all of the stressful months of Covid. The end of Mum's life was very difficult for me and the help and support I got from everyone at the Home was second to none and I will always be eternally grateful for that. Nightingale House is a very friendly and comfortable home, and I would happily recommend it to anyone.

I am generally satisfied with the Nightingale House Care Centre. Whenever I visit or phone, the staff are friendly and courteous. My mother initially booked herself into the home and, though she does complain on occasions, seems generally satisfied. When it has been necessary, the home has not hesitated
to contact the hospital or ambulances, and their approach to the Covid situation has been very successful. Mum doesn't eat well, but the home is trying to get her to eat without forcing the issue.

Dad reluctantly went into the care home in April. After a rough start, he settled quite quickly but that's through the brilliant care he has received. Everyone is very friendly and the care given to dad has been excellent. I don't feel dad is alone at all and am really pleased we found a home that really
does have a passion for the care given and it's not just a job. I wouldn't want dad anywhere else. Excellent all round in my opinion.

My Mum needs 2 carers for all her needs due to a stroke. I think it would be nice if certain carers spent more time with the residents (for a chat etc). Generally speaking, the home is good but there is always room for improvement. Meals could be hotter. The variation is much better now menus are on
view for everyone to see. As with every job, some people are better at their job than others. We all have to accept that nowhere is like your own home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.760)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.760) out of 10 for Nightingale House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.860 for Nightingale House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.86
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nightingale House Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
