Care Homes Owned by Halcyon Care Group

My husband suffers from Alzheimers, COPD and heart problems. We are both well into our eighties and I was totally stressed out and cracking up with my caring roll. We looked at several care homes for his needs for respite care and decided this was the very best. What we noticed after looking at four to five home that this was the only one where everyone smiled. That was important to us as staff and residents were all a happy smiling bunch. My husband stayed for a week to give me a break and they could not have been more caring . He very quickly settled down and was happy. They gave him all his huge amount of drugs on time. The food was very good, also non stop snacks and drinks whenever required. Fellow residents were interesting and happy and he enjoyed the social inter action during meal times in the dining room. He also found the activities fun. We couldn't fault the home and I know that next time I get run down it is reassuring to know that he would be very happy to return

However, my father's dementia was not as advanced as that of many other residents. We felt he needed more stimulation, activities and opportunities to spend time outdoors. At times, we were also concerned about the effect that some residents' challenging behaviour had on his overall wellbeing. I felt that the environment was not the right fit for him. We therefore moved him elsewhere. This reflects his individual needs rather than the quality of the staff.

After experience a medical problem and having to go into hospital, my family and I had to place my wife who has advanced dementia into a care home and due to our age and my medical problems, it's going to be a on a permanent basis. I was extremely reluctant to do this but needs must however she has been there for two months so far and I try to go most days to see her, and what can I say? The staff I've been. Fantastic. Helpful, kind, courteous nothing seems to be too much trouble for the them, on one visit, I noticed that someone had taken the time to cut and paint her nails and today I mentioned that next week, was her birthday they already knew and were arranging something on that day for her, I could go on but you get what I'm saying they care, which is what I want.

Mum has been living in Cliff House for six months now. The atmosphere is so friendly, the Manager and the Administrator are supportive and all the Staff are caring and ensure mums needs are met. The home is very clean , the food is plentiful and choices are always offered at meal times. There is a varied Activity programme , held in the lounge/communal areas or on a 1-1 basis in the residents rooms if they prefer.Mum particularly enjoys having her nails done and attends the in house hairdresser weekly.I am very pleased with mums care and feel reassured that she is in a safe and caring environment.

My mum was placed recently and the staff have been so kind and caring. I love the fact the visity hours are so "open" this tells me the care home deliver the quality of care all the time not just at set visity hours. It's brilliant the staff phone to update if my mum has had a fall - she often does and did this before the care home. I feel reassured she is in safe hands. My dad is so happy because she looks happy. Thank you!

Also a worker got aggressive with my 89 year old father I would not recommend this care he to know one.

The care home keeps me updated and the communication with all the service personnal, nurses, Doctor, care staff is good.

Excellent care given to our mum in extreme, sometimes challenging environments. Our mum had dementia and was given an abundance of care from all the team at Oaklands Care Home. The team were very supportive to the family throughout her stay. The family would like to personally thank Sam and all the team for all they did for our mother.

My Step-Dad, David, was recently a resident in Culm Valley Care Centre having been transferred there after a long spell in hospital. From the moment I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome and the staff were incredibly caring and helpful. Everyone I met said hello and was friendly. The room David was in was light and airy and very clean. The home was extremely clean throughout. The care David had in the short time he was there was exemplary. I cannot speak highly enough about the nursing staff - so kind and caring. David only ended up being there for a few days, sadly passing away quite quickly, but I am very happy knowing they made his last few days comfortable. I will be forever grateful. Wendy

My Mother had been at Manor Care for just over 7 years. She had vascular dementia & Alzheimers disease. Since Covid she has been bedridden. Every visit Mum was the same. Taking her medication, food & fluids from the carers. On Saturday 18th July I got a call from Manor Care to say mum had deteriorated very quickly that morning. I went in and me Mum wasn't right. Good conversation with senior carer. I then got my sister & nephew to come up. Mum died 19 July 2pm. We were with her. Those carers that day were absolutely brilliant with mum & us - thankyou.

The rooms are very clean and great care is taken to ensure that the residents are comfortable. There is an excellent choice of food available for all.

Every staff member is a credit to the care home, being friendly, supportive and taking good care of my wife. The facilities are just what are needed and the patience of the staff is exceptional in sometimes very trying circumstances. Thank you Cliff House for providing the care I was unable to give at home

Dad passed away in June at Nightingale who gave him dignified and loving end of life care. As a family we will be eternally grateful to all of the wonderful staff, and their care of us through our grief.

When my mum was first admitted to Oaklands me and my son went to visit. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to her room. As the time went by we got to know the staff very well. They've always treated my mum with dignity and respect. They made us feel so welcome - a strong family feeling. Nothing is to much trouble for any member of staff. They always make time to have a chat with me and my family. The last 3 days have been very hard on myself and my family when my mum was put on end of life. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were all looked after, offering us food and drinks, a shoulder to cry on. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't thank them enough. The amazing nurses, the excellent care staff, the brilliant house keeping team, office staff and OTs. Sam is a brilliant manger she is always there to listen. I'd definitely recommend Oaklands to other people wanting a living caring care home for their relatives. I will honestly miss going to Oaklands.

Friendly, clean keep the residents occupied lots going of.

I am really happy with the care my mum as received while she has been here. She is happy and content. All the staff are lovely towards Mum and her family.

My mum has just had 18 days Respite Care, to help her, but to really help me out has her main carer with health problems of my own. The care she has been given was exceptional and I cannot thank them enough. I look forward to her next respite break. The staff from the manager right down to carers and kitchens staff have all been amazing. And the gardener/maintainance man made Mum happy by filling up the bird feeders outside her window
