I always felt welcomed by staff whatever day or time I visited. Residents were able to pursue their own interests in small areas, e.g. painting in a window, watching TV in a small corner, chatting outside, meeting friends and family. Mum was involved in activities morning and afternoon which was essential
for her sense of belonging as her Alzheimer's progressed. I have visited several care homes and Culm Valley far exceeded all of them.
Reply from Ann Bright, Registered Manager at Culm Valley Care CentreThank you for your lovely feedback, we are so glad it was a positive experience for you and your Mother

I had a very positive initial experience with the lovely lady on the front desk who welcomed me and showed me to my father's room. I felt a good general atmosphere within the care home. My father's room was well equipped ( though I personally found it rather hot, even with the two fans he had running!)
- during my multiple visits I found the staff friendly and supportive. I would definitely recommend the Culm Valley Care home.

We can't thank the wonderful staff enough for their care of my dad during his last 2 weeks in palliative care. They made a difficult time so much easier, for us visiting as well as for dad. He was always dressed nicely, his diet was catered for, and they attended to medication in a timely manner. Communication
via phone was excellent, and they were so kind and compassionate when he finally passed. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and the location is lovely and quiet. We are forever grateful for this experience.
Reply from Ann Bright, Registered Manager at Culm Valley Care CentreThank you for your feedback, our condolences to you and your family at this time.

My grandfather, Miroslav ("Mirek"), spent the final part of his life at Culm Valley Care Home, and my family and I will always be grateful for the care he received there.
I would especially like to thank the nurses, carers, and management team for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism. They
treated my grandfather with dignity and respect and supported our family through an incredibly difficult time.
One small area for consideration is accessibility for disabled visitors. As a wheelchair user, I experienced some challenges accessing facilities during visits, and I hope this is something that can be reviewed in the future to make things easier for other disabled family members.
Thank you to everyone at Culm Valley Care Home

Mum was placed here for STC in February following a fall, losing mobility and UTI resulting in a permanent catheter - whilst waiting for 4 visits a day homecare. The management and support staff ensured mum was looked after with dignity, she gained weight as a result of eating well, and her fluids went
up too. After a diagnosis of VD, Mum is now a permanent resident. The transition was made so easy by the support of all staff during a stressful time for our family living away.
Reply from Bogdan Florea, Manager at Homer Lodge Care CentreThank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased to hear that your mum has been well cared for and supported with dignity during such a difficult and emotional time for your family. Its wonderful to know she has settled well, improved her nutrition and hydration, and that the transition to becoming a permanent resident was made easier through the support of our team. Your kind words about our staff, care, and environment mean a great deal to us, and we will ensure they are shared with the whole team. Thank you for trusting us with your mums care.

My mum came here recently for a short stay. She was made welcome from the very start. The rooms are spotlessly clean, airy and spacious with plenty of personal storage. Her clothing was laundered and returned to her, taking the pressure off the family. The staff are caring and treated her with dignity
and respect. The food is lovely too. The managers are lovely and even gave her a sandwich to take home to eat later. I can thoroughly recommend this place.
Reply from Bogdan Florea, Manager at Homer Lodge Care CentreThank you so much for your kind words and recommendation. Our team works hard to provide a clean, homely environment where every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Its lovely to know that the care, food, laundry service, and support from our staff and management helped make her stay a positive experience for both your mum and your family. Food not appetising enough especially for one that hasn't got an appetite. A much better variety of foods available could be more appealing i.e. spices, like chillis, currys, spag bol or toasted sandwiches. Food tends to be quite bland. Also meal times need to be spread out more -
Breakfast - 7.30
- 9.30 Elvenses 11am
Lunch - 1.00 - 2.00 Mid afternoon 3-4pm
Dinner - 5.00 - 6.00 Supper/snack/drink 8pm - 9pm.
Activities not suitable for people who have their faculties so not to be treated like children but as adults.
Reply from Cliff House, Natalie Bullimore Manager at Cliff HouseThank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the food has not always been appetising, particularly for residents with a reduced appetite. Your suggestions for a wider variety of meals have been noted . The home also provides an additional menu alongside the main menu to offer residents more choice and flexibility. Meal times are suggestive times rather than fixed, and residents are able to choose when they would like to have their meals, snacks, and drinks wherever possible. We also appreciate your comments regarding activities. We agree that residents should always be treated with dignity and as adults, with activities that are meaningful and appropriate to their interests and abilities. Your feedback will be shared with the activities team and any suggestions of any additional activities would be greatly accepted . If you wish to discuss your feedback further we would be more than happy to accommodate this.

When my dad was given a place at Knappes just before Christmas, lots of people were horrified, 'I wouldn't even put an animal in there!', 'horrible place'. I was really concerned as was all our family - but it's close so we thought well we will move him if necessary. Our fears were unfounded!!! Kind,
caring attentive staff - lovely food, beautiful surroundings. It took Dad a little time to settle, but now it's lovely to hear him laugh again.

The staff are amazing, always so friendly and helpful! My mum is very well cared for and always has a smile on her face. The staff are always there to answer questions. My aunt & uncle came to visit, and the staff made us tea & coffee with biscuits, and we didn't have to ask! Just always nice walking
away knowing my mum is getting looked after so well.

What an incredible care home. Bursting at the seams with kindness, hard work and a dedication to every single resident. Monson is without doubt one of the best care homes in Lincoln - as the daughter of resident with complex needs they provide a safe and loving environment. The management are hands
on and communication is first class. In my opinion it's really hard getting older and making the transition to living in a care home harder and yet all the staff at Monson do all that is possible to ensure residents feel that this is their home.As a relative am welcomed, I can visit anytime, I can participate or spend time in with my mum in her lovely room or one of the many additional spaces . Her friends are welcome too and are all guests are treated to great hospitality. The location in the heart of a busy, diverse university city is brilliant, literally a stones throw from the city centre and with so many opportunities for the local amenities to be on hand. I would highly recommend

Mums transition into residential care was quite hurried as her needs changed after a fall at her home. Staff were welcoming and friendly and tried hard to make mum feel an individual by encouraging personal possessions. Initial assessment and care plans were put in place to keep mum safe. She had a
health assessment within days from the GP practice. Food is varied and offered appropriately. Staff are responsive and friendly to residents and family. We feel mum is well cared for and safe.
Reply from Cliff House, Manager at Cliff HouseThank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear that your mum's transition into residential care, despite happening quite suddenly after her fall, was supported with warmth, kindness, and professionalism. Our team works hard to ensure every resident feels valued as an individual, and it's wonderful to know that encouraging personal belongings and creating a familiar environment helped your mum settle in. We're also glad the initial assessments, care planning, and prompt GP health review provided reassurance that her needs and safety were being carefully looked after. It means a great deal to hear that you feel your mum is well cared for, safe, and supported, and that both residents and families experience our staff as responsive and friendly. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Our mum has been in The Nightingales for just over a year after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's & was unable to stay in her own home. From the start of the process of admitting mum, we were all treated with the upmost respect especially initially mum was not the easiest person to deal with due
to her illness.
The Nightingales is an extremely well managed care home, and all the staff are amazing and they go beyond their duty to make sure, firstly mum is well cared for and all her needs are met, secondly they look after the family. It is not easy putting your parent in a home, all the staff keep us well informed about mum, and we are rung and informed of any issues the crop up, illness etc.
There are activities most days and this is great for mum as she is very active and likes to be involved, from keep fit, bowling, knit & natter to name just a few.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home, well done to everyone.

My father was living in another care home, he became very depressed and withdrawn, refusing to leave his room. After speaking to the Matron at The Firs and explaining his situation she reviewed dad and offered him a room. The transformation was immediate he joined other residents in the lounge, interacted
with activities and began to smile again. It was the absolute best decision to make. Towards the end of dads life the care and attention he received was brilliant. Calm, respectful and dignified. Thank you.

Unfortunately my mother in law only resided at The Firs for a short time. During her stay mum was treated with the utmost care and with the respect and dignity she deserved. All the staff, health carers, cleaning and catering staff, nothing was too much trouble. The manager was a breath of fresh air,
honest, reliable, well informed and extremely caring. My family and I would not hesitate to recommend The FIrs to anyone who is going the difficult process of having to find a nursing home for much loved relatives.
Reply from Helen Grigg, Manager at The Firs Care CentreThankyou, It means a great deal to us to know that your mother-in-law was cared for with the dignity, respect, and compassion she deserved during her time with us.
