My father moved to Martin initially for respite care. All the staff are very caring and attentive. His needs were all met and he had a brand new room with ensuite facilities. A huge thank you to all the staff for their help over this period.

My husband was admitted to Martin Hall with delirium and challenging behaviour. The manager and team not only dealt with my husband in a very caring way (even with the abuse he gave). They supported me in everyway. I am pleased to say he is now home with me. I will be given respite allowance and I hope
Martin Hall will have room for him. I don't want him to go anywhere else. Would I recommend Martin Hall? 100%

Mum moved here a few weeks ago. Already she is looking settled. Weight done within 24 hours, yet the old home couldn't do. DOLs started the process - old one gave excuses as to why they didn't do finger nails cut, cleaned, shaped - old one, they were disgusting - which in turn led to skin rips, of which
her skin is healing now! Care here is how it should be.
Reply from Nicky Cox, Administrator at Martin Hall Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind review, we are pleased to hear that you are happy with the care your mum is receiving and I will be sure to pass your comments to the rest of the care team.

My husband was discharged to Martin Hall from hospital, and despite not being where we would have chosen, the overall experience was very good. the home is undergoing refurbishment, as it is very tired, and should be excellent when complete. We found the care to be first rate, compassionate and person
centred, and my husband would have remained there, had it not been so far from home. Sincere thanks is due to all the staff, manager and on site occupational therapy team.
Reply from Nicky Cox, Administrator at Martin Hall Nursing HomeIt is always so nice to hear positive words about our home and staff. It was a pleasure caring for your husband and we wish you both well.

This care home is such a breath of fresh air from the previous care home experience. They are very attentive to their residents and offer superb dementia care. If mother rings her bell they are there within a couple of minute and deal with whatever is needed. They go the extra mile when required to
offer comfort and company to their residents. Even the manager gets involved with the residents during her working day to talk or maybe assist. The food offered is of a very good quality and with variety. There always seems to be adequate staff on shift and I can recommend this care home enough.

My husband has lived at Martin Hall Nursing Home for over 6 years. He has always been well cared for and he enjoys the home cooked food. The staff have always been accommodating with his changing needs as his Dementia progresses. Any problems, someone always rings me to make me aware. The home is always
clean and the staff is always helpful. Occasionally, I have had a problem finding a member of staff but it is usually because they are busy with other residents.

I caught a member of staff trying to steal my money. Waiting too long for help to go to the toilet and even worse off at night. Haven't seen my room cleaned properly once.
Reply from Caron, Administrator at Martin Hall Nursing HomeWe are obviously disappointed that you have had a negative experience whilst staying with us. We are aware of your allegation and this was fully investigated at the time, you received regular updates from management throughout the investigation process and were also given the opportunity to move to an alternative setting which you declined as you stated you were happy at Martin Hall. All call bell alerts are monitored, we have checked our records and all call bells were answered within the acceptable time. With regard to the cleanliness of your room, daily cleaning schedules are completed by housekeeping and are readily available. We are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations.

Mum has Parkinson's so she spends most of her time asleep. Whenever we visit she is always clean and comfortable and nicely dressed, despite being fast asleep. Her room is clean and tidy and the staff often put things out for her to look at or a soft toy to sleep with.
I speak with the nursing and
caring staff regularly and they are always aware of her condition, her likes and dislikes.
I couldn't ask for a more caring and attentive home for her to be in.

With my stepmother's advanced dementia, and living 300-plus miles away from the nursing home, I'm very grateful for the updates and feedback provided by the nursing home, through the helpful administrative support and my stepmother's personal carer. This support is invaluable to me and more importantly
to my stepmother.

Overall we are very happy with Martin Hall.
Very clean, homemade food.
The staff are very welcoming.
Lots of activities for the residents.
We only have one issue and that is the record keeping. When we were trying to get Mum funding the social worker said at least twice that the records were
incomplete. The staff are familiar with Mum and so the records were not done. But they are still needed to be recorded accurately and regularly.
Thanks.

My father has been a resident here for the last four years. He has always considered the care home as his own home.
Over the years my father has had many different carers and he has always felt loved and looked after by them.
When we visit, all the carers and office staff are exceptionally helpful
to us and our father.
Now that my father's health is declining, we get regular updates from the front office staff and are always informed if any health concerns appear. Thank you, Martin Hall.

I would like to compliment all the people involved with the running and care given when my friend was with Martin Hall. As an ex-nurse, I was amazed at the cleanliness of this home, it was spotless and on every visit carers were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, she was sent home and is
now totally isolated and unable to care for herself. She would have loved to stay at Martin Hall and was very happy there.

Since my arrival at Martin Hall Nursing Home, every aspect of my care and ‘experience’ here has been exemplary. The carers themselves have been attentive, approachable and personable.
The administrators, nurses and therapists have all maintained excellent communication re. every aspect of my care plan.
Each and every day comes with a varied menu offering a range of delicious meals.
In addition to the physical recovery, a sense of well-being is supported by positively encouraging social interactions and a chance to participate in additional activities.
There is access to the beautiful gardens within the grounds - my room has uplifting views across the gardens - with a bird table right outside - this has undoubtedly supported my recovery.
What a privilege it has been to reside here for my transitional care.

My mum has been in residence in Martin Hall for the last four weeks. From the first evening my mum arrived and was met by two staff members who booked her in, everyone was very attentive, caring and compassionate to the highest level which put her at
ease straight away. The physiotherapy team were
great, very patient and attentive.
Nothing was too much trouble and as Mum put in when she left on Sunday, for somebody who has never liked the idea of being in a care/nursing home you all put me at ease straight away and I couldn’t have come to a better place. Thank you to you all for the love and care given to Mum.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.590)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.590) out of 10 for Martin Hall Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.665 for Martin Hall Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (161 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 206 Ratings = 4.665
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Martin Hall Nursing Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
