After experience a medical problem and having to go into hospital, my family and I had to place my wife who has advanced dementia into a care home and due to our age and my medical problems, it's going to be a on a permanent basis. I was extremely reluctant to do this but needs must however she has been there for two months so far and I try to go most days to see her, and what can I say? The staff I've been. Fantastic. Helpful, kind, courteous nothing seems to be too much trouble for the them, on one visit, I noticed that someone had taken the time to cut and paint her nails and today I mentioned that next week, was her birthday they already knew and were arranging something on that day for her, I could go on but you get what I'm saying they care, which is what I want.

My mum was placed recently and the staff have been so kind and caring. I love the fact the visity hours are so "open" this tells me the care home deliver the quality of care all the time not just at set visity hours. It's brilliant the staff phone to update if my mum has had a fall - she often does and did this before the care home. I feel reassured she is in safe hands. My dad is so happy because she looks happy. Thank you!

My first visit I was impressed but second visit wasn't gd .A worker told my father she would duck tape my father's mouth if he didn't stop talking .My father was pressing his buzzer for 2 hours to go toilet I know this was true as I was talking with my father on his mobile. This happened a lot ,I was ringing the office they would not answer and eventually I was not allowed to ring the office after 6 30.

Also a worker got aggressive with my 89 year old father I would not recommend this care he to know one.

My Mother had been at Manor Care for just over 7 years. She had vascular dementia & Alzheimers disease. Since Covid she has been bedridden. Every visit Mum was the same. Taking her medication, food & fluids from the carers. On Saturday 18th July I got a call from Manor Care to say mum had deteriorated very quickly that morning. I went in and me Mum wasn't right. Good conversation with senior carer. I then got my sister & nephew to come up. Mum died 19 July 2pm. We were with her. Those carers that day were absolutely brilliant with mum & us - thankyou.

This review is to cover nearly four years of Dad's care at Nightingale House. He had complex mobility and cognitive needs but the caring staff were patient and kind, and always found a way to resolve any worries. He enjoyed the activities and was encouraged to participate in them if he was doubtful. He was definitely respected, not just as an older gentleman but someone who had lived a full and interesting life before his debilitating stroke. An example is that staff members would join him in his room for the two minute silence on Remembrance Sunday, something that they did through choice. If we ever had any concerns about his care or staff attitude it would be dealt with immediately with no repercussions. This was a very rare event however and for that we are grateful.

Dad passed away in June at Nightingale who gave him dignified and loving end of life care. As a family we will be eternally grateful to all of the wonderful staff, and their care of us through our grief.

Reply from Emma Steadman, Manager at Nightingale House Care Centre

Sue this is the most wonderful review. It's hard to express how much we thought of dad but he really was special, and a pleasure to care for. Thank you to you all for entrusting him into our care, and thankyou to the family for supporting the home through his time with us. I will be sure to pass this on to staff, your comments really do mean the world to us.

My stay at Homer Lodge was extremely helpful. It enabled me to get onto the road to recovery + independence. It was comforting that I knew there were always staff at hand who would show me aid if I needed it but would also encourage me to do it myself. All the staff from managers to domestic help were excellent most supportive and most pleasant. Naturally I wanted to be at home but I enjoyed my recovery there.

Mum was placed here for STC in February following a fall, losing mobility and UTI resulting in a permanent catheter - whilst waiting for 4 visits a day homecare. The management and support staff ensured mum was looked after with dignity, she gained weight as a result of eating well, and her fluids went up too. After a diagnosis of VD, Mum is now a permanent resident. The transition was made so easy by the support of all staff during a stressful time for our family living away.

My mum came here recently for a short stay. She was made welcome from the very start. The rooms are spotlessly clean, airy and spacious with plenty of personal storage. Her clothing was laundered and returned to her, taking the pressure off the family. The staff are caring and treated her with dignity and respect. The food is lovely too. The managers are lovely and even gave her a sandwich to take home to eat later. I can thoroughly recommend this place.

The staff are amazing, always so friendly and helpful! My mum is very well cared for and always has a smile on her face. The staff are always there to answer questions. My aunt & uncle came to visit, and the staff made us tea & coffee with biscuits, and we didn't have to ask! Just always nice walking away knowing my mum is getting looked after so well.

Review of Monson Care Home from M L (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

What an incredible care home. Bursting at the seams with kindness, hard work and a dedication to every single resident. Monson is without doubt one of the best care homes in Lincoln - as the daughter of resident with complex needs they provide a safe and loving environment. The management are hands on and communication is first class. In my opinion it's really hard getting older and making the transition to living in a care home harder and yet all the staff at Monson do all that is possible to ensure residents feel that this is their home.As a relative am welcomed, I can visit anytime, I can participate or spend time in with my mum in her lovely room or one of the many additional spaces . Her friends are welcome too and are all guests are treated to great hospitality. The location in the heart of a busy, diverse university city is brilliant, literally a stones throw from the city centre and with so many opportunities for the local amenities to be on hand. I would highly recommend

Review of Nightingale House Care Centre from Wendy P (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our mum has been in The Nightingales for just over a year after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's & was unable to stay in her own home. From the start of the process of admitting mum, we were all treated with the upmost respect especially initially mum was not the easiest person to deal with due to her illness.
The Nightingales is an extremely well managed care home, and all the staff are amazing and they go beyond their duty to make sure, firstly mum is well cared for and all her needs are met, secondly they look after the family. It is not easy putting your parent in a home, all the staff keep us well informed about mum, and we are rung and informed of any issues the crop up, illness etc.
There are activities most days and this is great for mum as she is very active and likes to be involved, from keep fit, bowling, knit & natter to name just a few.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home, well done to everyone.

After receiving a diagnosis of confusion/pre dementia from Lincoln County Hospital we had to find a suitable care home for my mother. Nightingale House was recommended as one to visit on our list. We felt right from the first time we spoke to the manager that this was the right one for mother. From the first visit we found the home to be spotlessly clean, smiling friendly staff, easy approach. Really attentive to residents needs and my mother is really happy.

My mum suffers with late stages of dementia and care at home was becoming too much. Martins care home took on the care of my mum very quickly. I cannot praise them enough for how well the staff made her feel at home and put all her family at ease. Very flexible with family visiting and very polite and make you feel welcome.

They have many activities and also extra perks that my mum has enjoyed very much. They have made the change for my mum seamless and very efficient. Don't think i could recommend a better place. If someone is looking for a great clean place and great staff this would have to be one of the best out there.

Can't thank them enough for what they have done for not just my mum but also my dad.

I am happy and feel safe here, now I'm not fit enough to live on my own. The staff are very patient with me if I forget anything and they are all very caring. Below is to justify my interest in the medication I'm given and why! I'm aware things change! I worked as a district nurse then sister before moving into general practice, 2 "shared" me, as I was. We had many meetings in Europe and America when drug companies started paying for us to study for many health diplomas and drugs involved.
