My mother was placed here for rehab - following a really nasty fall, with 10 days spent in hospital. The staff were unfailingly friendly, kind and supportive towards my mother & myself. The therapy team did a great job in re-mobilising my mother. The room she was in was very gloomy but my mother said the bed was comfy. The TV didn't work on arrival, but was very quickly fixed.

My husband suffers from Alzheimers, COPD and heart problems. We are both well into our eighties and I was totally stressed out and cracking up with my caring roll. We looked at several care homes for his needs for respite care and decided this was the very best. What we noticed after looking at four to five home that this was the only one where everyone smiled. That was important to us as staff and residents were all a happy smiling bunch. My husband stayed for a week to give me a break and they could not have been more caring . He very quickly settled down and was happy. They gave him all his huge amount of drugs on time. The food was very good, also non stop snacks and drinks whenever required. Fellow residents were interesting and happy and he enjoyed the social inter action during meal times in the dining room. He also found the activities fun. We couldn't fault the home and I know that next time I get run down it is reassuring to know that he would be very happy to return

The care home keeps me updated and the communication with all the service personnal, nurses, Doctor, care staff is good.

My Step-Dad, David, was recently a resident in Culm Valley Care Centre having been transferred there after a long spell in hospital. From the moment I walked through the door I was made to feel welcome and the staff were incredibly caring and helpful. Everyone I met said hello and was friendly. The room David was in was light and airy and very clean. The home was extremely clean throughout. The care David had in the short time he was there was exemplary. I cannot speak highly enough about the nursing staff - so kind and caring. David only ended up being there for a few days, sadly passing away quite quickly, but I am very happy knowing they made his last few days comfortable. I will be forever grateful. Wendy

I always felt welcomed by staff whatever day or time I visited. Residents were able to pursue their own interests in small areas, e.g. painting in a window, watching TV in a small corner, chatting outside, meeting friends and family. Mum was involved in activities morning and afternoon which was essential for her sense of belonging as her Alzheimer's progressed. I have visited several care homes and Culm Valley far exceeded all of them.

I had a very positive initial experience with the lovely lady on the front desk who welcomed me and showed me to my father's room. I felt a good general atmosphere within the care home. My father's room was well equipped ( though I personally found it rather hot, even with the two fans he had running!) - during my multiple visits I found the staff friendly and supportive. I would definitely recommend the Culm Valley Care home.

We can't thank the wonderful staff enough for their care of my dad during his last 2 weeks in palliative care. They made a difficult time so much easier, for us visiting as well as for dad. He was always dressed nicely, his diet was catered for, and they attended to medication in a timely manner. Communication via phone was excellent, and they were so kind and compassionate when he finally passed. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and the location is lovely and quiet. We are forever grateful for this experience.

Mum has just moved into the home and we couldn't of hoped for a warmer welcome from the whole team. The staff we've met so far are so helpful, attentive and caring. I'm sure mum will settle and be well looked after.

When my dad was given a place at Knappes just before Christmas, lots of people were horrified, 'I wouldn't even put an animal in there!', 'horrible place'. I was really concerned as was all our family - but it's close so we thought well we will move him if necessary. Our fears were unfounded!!! Kind, caring attentive staff - lovely food, beautiful surroundings. It took Dad a little time to settle, but now it's lovely to hear him laugh again.

The staff are lovely, very caring and helpful, in fact I can no speak highly enough of them. The food is very good, very good quality. My only criticism would be the cleanliness of the home.

The care staff are above and beyond. The care staff all have great dispositions. The care staff all have smiles only and good humour. Management/reception most welcoming. Food/chef commendable of good value! Cleanliness 11 out of 10! Laundry - turn around first class! Activities are well, I am speechless .... so good.

Very disappointed that my dad was put into bed on arrival in Sept 25 and he has not been out since. Disappointed that Dad does not have a shave, he was always a proud man when he was able. Dad always seems to need a drink when I visit as I don't feel he is offered it often enough. One plus is he is always clean.

All in all very happy with things

Mum seems happy in her home. The staff are very kind and she responds to them well. She can be difficult at times, but they leave the room and returns later, and she normally agrees to her personal care taking place. She is safe in the home, and procedures in place to stop falls. Home keeps me well informed and always encourages visits. Office staff also very helpful and always happy to answer questions regarding her fees etc. When I have had an issue last year, it was dealt with straight away, and all has been good since then.

Visiting is always pleasurable, staff are very helpful at all times and on all occasions, extremely accommodating. Home is pleasant and very comfortable. Would recommend Knappe Cross.

All the staff are very caring and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. You can pop into the office anytime to have a chat. I would recommend Knappe Cross Nursing Home to anyone. Thank you for supporting my dad and family.

I am so pleased that my wife Rita is here in Ashdowne Care Home, she is being very well treated and cared for. Thank you very much.

Staff very friendly, they always do their best to keep my father comfortable and happy. Room is nice and always clean.
