My grandad was in Moorlands receiving care for Alzheimer’s after he passed. My grandma's health deteriorated and she requested to go to moorlands as well. The staff in Moorlands are honestly the nicest care home staff, my grandma viewed other homes and even went for respite somewhere else but ended
up preferring Moorlands. The staff here have been so helpful, not just for my grandparents but us too and have provided a lot of reassurance to us and have just been so lovely. Having dealt with our family for a few years they’ve seen every reaction possible from us and helped us through all of it, they have been amazing to my grandparents and often went in for chats with my grandma when she was unable to get out of bed to make sure she wasn’t lonely. I would not only recommend Moorlands to other people but I can honestly say if I ever need a care home this is the one I’d choose for myself.

My mother has been in The Moorlands for just over a year.
I cannot fault the home at all.
The care my mother is receiving is excellent.
The staff are always there if we need to discuss anything at all.
My family are all very happy with The Moorlands.

My mum going into a nursing home has been difficult to not only her but the rest of the family.
The staff have been absolutely fantastic in trying to not only support my mum and all of us but also in trying to help keep her mood up. Nothing is too much trouble to the staff.
The only slight negative
I could put is a slight language barrier with some of the night staff. (Their English is not great and neither is my mum's speech), saying this they are still nice.

Dad moved into The Moorlands and I was quite apprehensive as I had an awful year at his previous home. I needn't have worried, right from the start we were welcomed wonderfully. All staff showed compassion and wonderful care to dad and ourselves. As dad's only daughter I can, at last, come home after
visiting and relax knowing he is being well looked after.
Dad is starting to settle in now and continues to receive excellent care. Anything he needs is quickly adhered to. I am extremely happy to recommend the home to anyone.

All staff are caring and helpful.
The home is clean and well maintained. Mum has settled in very well. She gives the staff the runaround and enjoys singalongs, activities, laughs and jokes with staff.

Overall I am happy with the care. My relative enjoys the food and company. Whilst she is 96 years old, she is an intelligent person with a high administrative background and would appreciate some form of stimulation. I am unhappy about the fact that she is often wearing clothes that don't belong to
her and we have had 'special' labels made for her clothing to avoid this but it doesn't seem to be working too well.

I found the staff at The Moorlands very accommodating of an emergency referral. When the stay became permanent there was a professional induction of both the resident and the family. The whole team look after mum in a loving, caring and respectful way. Nothing is too much trouble for them even though
mum can be difficult at times. Family and visitors are always welcome and offered hospitality. Since mum moved in we have joined in with The Moorlands summer and Christmas Fairs, invited to a Christmas meal with mum and other residents and families and other get togethers. Residents birthdays are celebrated by the staff including cake, card.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.714)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.714) out of 10 for Moorlands Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.789 for Moorlands Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (165 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 199 Ratings = 4.789
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorlands Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
